Oh Diet Coke, How I've Missed Thee...
NDN_RN replied to LT1002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So how did you soda addicts shake the addiction? Did you curtail or stop before surgery, or simply lose the taste for it after surgery? This is my opportunity to change the way I eat, think about food and entertain a healthier lifestyle. i certainly have no intention in undoing this opportunity by slipping back into old habits by eating cake or drinking soda. I am the first to admit, as an RN for 33 years (my weight issue for the last 15 of them) that I don't practice what I preach, and realize the do as I say, not as I do tactic is getting harder to convince patients. Luckily, I have a good rapport with my Vets (i work for the VA doing home care on disable and infirmed vets) -

Diet caffeine free pepsi addict here. I can down a 12 pack in a day and a half. My husband joked that he should have invested in pepsi, we would be rich on me alone. It's going to be hard to give it up, once I am sleeved, but I plan to. It is not healthy, at all. Given the fact i am having my stomache reduced to 15% of it's size, go through the dangers of major surgery and the sacrifice afterward, i am no stupid enough to ruin it by stretching my sleeve with worthless carbonation. To each his own, but no need to be venomous when people give advice. That's what this Vertical Sleeve Talk is all about...learning from eachother, and supporting eachother. I hate to say, some lawyers make the lawyer jokes actual reality. -

Someone Pls Be My Saviour?!what Are The Best Protein Shakes Out There?
NDN_RN replied to Vixkey's topic in Food and Nutrition
Ijust went on the chike site. 11 g of carbs per drink seems high? -
Hi folks. I havent been sleeved yet. Hoping for late sept date. I am reading about the carb/ mashed potatoes. I believe though the bulk of your meal should be protien. You should have 20-40 G of carbs to give you enough energy to digest your protien and keep your body from going into starvation mode No less than 800 cal a day . I am an RN and i do a lot of diet teaching. Go figure

So The Hubby Likes An Ample Rear, What If I Lose It All?
NDN_RN replied to Mzluvee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same problem. My husband loves my curves and although very supportive he gets this forlorned look and asks, "are you sure you want to do this" i remind him my rear is disproportionately larger than the rest of my plus sized body (always hated thet) so i assume it will be larger than the rest of my body as I reduce. Exercise to keep it bouncy and firm! -
I Am currently starting the second week of my 2 week vacation on Cape Cod. luckily, we are camping at our favorite state park we go to yearly and the folks are always friendly and dress is very casual. i have never been this heavy. i am embarrasses to put on my giant bathing suits and walk the 100 feet to the wonderful lake. Went to Provincetown to go whale watching and notice myself in the shop windows and got so depressed. I want to wear cute sundresses, not moomoos. i want to wear shorts and tank tops, not stretch capris and double x flowy tops. i want to be able to buy the bohemian skirts and dresses you find on the strip. I am tired of hiding behind my kids in group photos. I have to wait and see, finish my requirements and hope to Gosh, my insurance company approves. i want a different body, next time I visit P-town

I will definitely keep you in my meditations and prayers. Have faith, you will heal and it will only be a distant memory once you have regained your strength and lost the weight. -
Last Summer Of My Discontent
NDN_RN replied to NDN_RN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you guys! Those are only 5 of 9 kids. The four youngest are adopted, one with very special needs. The others are in their mid to late 20s and on their own.. I am blessed, but I somehow lost myself in caring for them. It's me time! -
Maybe. I dont think so. The requirements were triple checked with 3 different costumer service representatives by my surgeons patient advocate, me, and my primary MDs office. Also, my surgeons office has done several sleeves on federal BCBS patients and the requirements were the same.
-
I am certain the federal employee bcbs plan req are different. They require 3 monthly nut visits one psych eval and a letter of medical necessity from your PMD. You must have a bMI of 40, or a BMI of 35 with one comorbidity such as diabetes hypertension sleep apnea or hyperlipidemia.

Also looking forward to wearing shorts that dont have the pant legs ride up between my thighs., and wearing even mid rise jeans without having half my butt cheeks showing
