Do You Find That Some People Find It Odd That You Would Do This So Late In Life?
NDN_RN replied to smartypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I guess this is why I have opted to tell no one except my husband, my 19 year old daughter and my closest friend. I am doing it because I do want to look good again. Tired of: being tired, pain, slow, frumpy, dumpy and depressed. I am doing this for me, and me alone. I figure as a 50 something, i have less time to possibly gain the weight back! Just kiddding...really looking for a slimmer, sprier me -
Justine, i am so with you. I have granny panties look like sails, mom jeans, oversized shirts. I wear maxi dresses and I look like I am wearing hawaiin mumus. I have 2 pair of 18 talbots kakis (talbots runs really big, BTW) and stretchy shirts I wear to work almost everyday, because nothing else fits right. I cant remember last time I dressed up.

Help! Best Fast Food Option W/ Protein?!
NDN_RN replied to KikiCC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:-x staying quiet on the recent Chick Fil A controversy. I think if there is any chance at a convenience store, supermarket, bodega, vegetable market, you can find greek yogurt, cheese stick, muscle milk, even gerber graduates meat sticks..has to be better than any fast food. -

All good suggestions. My two cents: who cares what people think? No explanations necessary. If they ask, I'll go with "i don't have much of an appetite". -
Will This Go Away ?

Fyi, i was told by my nutritionist not to take viactiv or any calcium gluconate. The only good calcium is Calcium citrate.

If you are self pay, I guess it's up to your surgeon. For insurance, it usually has to be at LEAST 35 with at LEAST one comorbidity (HTN, Diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol) or 40 with no comorbidity. -

Comment My Doctor Made That I Worry A Little About- Maybe Don't Look At This If Pre-Surgery
NDN_RN replied to CelticHarpist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's true. Many surgeons have very poor bedside manner. They may be amazing with a scalpel, but terrible at human relationships, which is why they l,ike their patient's asleep. Believe me, as an RN of 33 years, I have seen and delt with a lot of surgeons. NOT ALL are like this, but certainly, many are. Take what he/she said with a grain of salt and chalk up their insensistivity, to their own social awkwardness. The incisions with likely hurt to some degree, but how many of us actually know what being stabbed 5 times feels like? -
Former New Mexican here (las Cruces). Good luck you all!

A fellow camper!! I have a 27 ft trailer. Just got back from 2 weeks in Cape Cod. Can't wait to be able to fit around my "walk around bed" without having my butt stick out half way into the bathroom.
