Hiv & The Sleeve Desparate For Answers
NDN_RN replied to mpositive's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HIV should not be a deterrant to any surgery, if a surgeon refuses that would be unconscionable. As far as the meds, there must be liquid formulations to your antiretrovirals, or some sort of alternative. You should speak to your ID doc first about formulations for your meds post sleev, and then find a surgeon to do it. good luck! -

Apple juice is naturally fat free. There is no such thing as fatty apple juice. Confused at that statement -

Did you have a preop diet? Sorry to hear this' date=' I would be beside myself.. But be strong, lose the 20 and move into your new life! -
Week 1 clear liquids 20g protein a day Week 2 full liquids 40-60g protein Week 3 pureed Week4 soft 60-80g protein Week 5 regular with some restriction 80+ g protein 6 to goal add foods as tolerated
-
Ok, your surgeon is different than mine. At 5 days post op, I would still be on clear liquids, no powders allowed. Also I would only need to take in 20g of protein a day the first week, which is half a bottle of isopure or 3/4 bottle of cytosport. Just had my last nut visit today and those instruction were pretty specific. Week 2 is full liquids with a 40-60 g of protein intake, and just increases from there each week. Puree, soft, then regular with some restrictions...protein first, always

Failed Over Night Pulse Ox

Insurance usually covers it. I am pretty sure you can rent it. -
Fed BCBS requires 3 monthly nut visits, psych eval, and letter from PCP recommending wls. If your bmi is less than 40, you must have at least one comorbidity sleep apnea, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, heart disease. They dont count arthritis, or any orthopedic issues

Thanks' date=' I am praying for good results. i am of lower BMI 36-37 but have HTN. i work for the VA as well. CT system, where are you? what dept? -
Can I suggest a fellow program at NY Eye and Ear Hospital? I had a mommy makeover (in 2 steps) by a plastic surgeon fellowing in cosmetic plastics and a park avenue plastic surgeon for the unbelievable cost of 6000 total. That is a full lower bodylift and tummy tuck (stage 1) and a full breast lift (stage 2) each stage 3000. I did this after a big weight loss about a few years ago, then gained it all back (now I am pre sleeve, oct date hopefully). I am even contemplating letting my college daughter get implants with them (she is thin as a rail and a 32 A). The program is top notch and the care was great. they also have a higher cost program (no fellow involved), which is still a good price. I can give you the info if you in box me. Obviously, I only speak to my experience, which was awesome.

Does Anyone Go Back And Forth With Doubts?
NDN_RN replied to Optimist01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go through the "I can't waits" to the " what if I die?" several times a day. I actually found and pulled out a life insurance policy I had and forgot about and gave it to my husband. Needless to say, he was not pleased. -
