  1. Has anyone tried the smoothe move tea post op for constipation? I used it before many times but am concerned about irritating my sleeve. I'm 3 weeks post op and still on liquids. The tea is caffeine free herbal stuff. Thanks!
  2. Thanks. I hope it works for you. I think I will try it tonight.
  3. Hi everyone. I just got my surgery date of Oct 9th. Any surgery day buddies out there? I'm scared and excited. It doesn't seem real right now because its taken so long to get an actual date. I decided to pursue this about a year ago and because of my insurance requirements it has taken a while. But I am scheduled and excited for this tool that will help me to finally be the person I am inside.

    Oct 9Th Anyone?

I am also struggling to get my fluids in. I have felt great and almost back to normal. I also had a possible incision infection but my surgeon cleaned it out yesterday and it seems much better now. As far as the scale, I'm down 9 lbs since the morning of surgery. Today it hurt a bit when I drank anything so I hope it feels better tomorrow. We have to stay strong and get through these few challenging days so we can reap the rewards of this surgery. We can do it!
  5. This sounds like my story! I was sleeved a week ago also (10/9) and I feel like the 6 pounds lost is ridiculous! Seems like it should be more. But then again 6 is a great number to lose in 7 days. I don't know why either. Hopefully at least you know you're not alone. Good luck to us both
  6. Hi everyone. I wanted to ask around before I started to worry. I was sleeved on Tuesday and today is Saturday. My abdominal pain is almost completely gone but I still have sharp pains in my left shoulder or upper chest area. Anyone else having this 5 days post op? Is this the gas pains everyone talks about? Is it trapped air from the surgery? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the advice and reassurance everyone. Its good to know what it is!

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Just wanted to check in with you all. I was sleeved on Oct 9th. I was extremely nervous headed into it and was pretty much wandering around with all kinds of scattered thoughts running through my head. The surgery itself went great and the surgeon even told my husband I would most likely go home the following day. However, I learned that I don't tolerate pain well at all and had a miserable first night. When the surgeon's RN came in the following morning, I was in tears telling him this was the biggest mistake of my life. He was truly wonderful with me and shared his personal WLS journey and the emotions that come with it. By the middle of my second post op day I was up walking the halls and sipping chicken broth. I came home today. The pain is still pretty bad but I am controlling it with the meds. My new tummy gurgles a lot! Anyone else have this new feature? I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for reading my post.

    Oct 9Th Anyone?

How are you all doing? I had my egd done today and it really wasn't a big deal. I was tired from the anesthsia but managed to take a nap and then headed to work. I was a bit off my game but mostly ok. Pre-op education is next week then liquids. Oh my gosh. Its happening so quickly now!

    Days Off

Skinnieminnie, thanks for your response. I was beginning to think I was taking too much time off. I am also taking 6 weeks. Btw we have lots in common because I also work in the medical field. I am an xray tech which explains the lifting. Good luck. Hope to see your posts along the way. My surgery is Oct 9th, one week after you.

    Days Off

What about the lifting restrictions? I have a pretty physical job and my surgeon says no lifting more than 5 pounds for 4 weeks. Anyone else have this concern?

    4 Weeks Liquid!

My surgeons nurse told me I will be on liquids only for 8 weeks total. This includes 1 week pre op. My doctor is extra cautious with the sleeve versus bypass post op diet. So, you aren't the only one! Be strong.
  16. I understand your frustration with the whole approval process. I am also having problems with scheduling appointments and such. I suppose all we can do is jump through the hoops to get on that surgical table. I just wish someone would hold the darn hoop up for me. Lol. Hang in there.

    Bcbs ***?

Hi everyone, Does anyone have BCBS HMO (Blue Advantage)? I am in the process of completing my pro-op testing and have to get referalls from my primary care physician for all the testing that my surgeon wants. It is very frustrating! I was scheduled for my cardiac clearance tomorrow. After wating almost a month for the appointment they called me today to reschedule. GRRRR. SO frustrating. I am rescheduled for nest week and I hope ther aren't any more delays. My question is if anyone else has this HMO how long was your insurance approval process? I have done the 8 months of required weight loss classes and it will be over a year since I began this journey before I even get a surgery date! I am frustrated but trying to take it one day at a time. I am afraid I will fall apart if I am denied after this long annoying process. Thanks for any advice/support! Cosmo95
