The best advice I ever got is to chew. Trying to swallow things that are too large will cause pain.

Said Good Bye To The 300's

Great! Keep up the good work. -
Thanks for having the courage to share. You look awesome!!

I guess the $3000-4000 that I was quoted for the procedure may be better spent on brachioplasty.

Thanks for the info Jill. I thought it was too good to be true. The docs offering the procedure give some info, but I definitely needed the opinion of others ho have seen it. Hope you feel well soon.

Any Massachusetts Banders
barbie64 replied to barbie64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Would like to set up a support group in the Springfield area. There doesn't appear to be that many of us out there. -
I've been doing a lot of reading about Smartlipo. I've got arms that make me sooo frustrated. Even at 150# my arms never budged more than an inch or two. I have a hard time believing that Smartlipo will tighten all the lose skin. Hoping someone has some experience or knows someone who has.

Still Upchucking After 2 Years Banded!
barbie64 replied to PennaPandora's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Penna, I can identify with some of your experiences. I was banded April 2009. The first year was ok. I lost about 50# slowly, but would throw up 1-2 times a day. This lasted for about 7 months. I had xrays, swallow studies and just about every test you could imagine. Nothing definitive. I continued to loose weight, but never felt 100%. I eventually lost 148# over the two year period. Finally all fluid was removed from my band. This was fantastic but not feeling totally geat and daily vomiting is no fun. Keep seeing your surgeon. Don't just believe that it can't better. Good luck. -
Just wondering how soon after surgery did you start exercise? And what kind is most people doing? Cardio?

Still On The Fence....
barbie64 replied to SqueakyV's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Speaking from experience, when my band slipped insurance paid to remove it. I was extremely disappointed as I was just 5# short of goal and 150# down. Sorry to say I have gained 50#. Insurance has paid for a new band and I started over last week. Even with the complication, I am happy that I decided to repeat the band. Good luck with your decision. -
Also nine days out and feeling much the same. It has been a little better last day or so.

It's a shame that not everyone can understand the significance of weight loss surgery. Keep your head up and lean on those that support you.

After Reaching My Goal Weight Labband Slips - Should I Do Revision Surgery Or Leave It Alone?
barbie64 replied to GipsyGirl's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My band slipped 1 year ago. My doc decided that removal would be my best option at the time. I was sure that I would never gain the weight again. I was at goal. Well 50# and 1 year later I am banded again. This was a tough decision, but I could not be over 300# again. It's a tough choice. Do what your heart tells you. -

I received my second band June 27, 2012. I had been without a band for 1 year. Somehow I managed to gain almost 50#. The last week has been almost totally new. Hoping to develop a good support network this time. Good luck with the urgery. You are beginning a wonderful journey.
