I don't know who posted about this first, but I just want to say THANK YOU! to whoever mentioned drinking peppermint tea. It goes down so easily and really makes it easy for me to "up" my liquid intake each day. Plus...it's really yummy! So, thank you, whoever you are!

I thought I saw someone post something about it having to do with acid in the stomach? I could be way off base though. I'd love to know too since I have had it too.

Birth Control Pills And Surgery?
kerryk replied to Bufflehead's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my surgeon about my birth control pills. He said I could continue taking them as normal since they are such small pills. No issue with having to stop them beforehand or afterwards either. -

One night was plenty for me. After going back in for the IV, I was feeling pretty good. I was feeling minimal pain, so I was ready to get home. Bumpy roads were a bit bothersome, but just take something like a small firm pillow to hold across your belly during the drive. I was only taking a half dose of the Roxicet at the hotel the night of the surgery, and just a half dose the night I got home. I haven't taken any since, so I was fine going home after one night in the hotel. By the way...the Best Western that is down by the ferry dock is a good hotel to stay at. Room was nice...not too expensive...but stayed away from the seedier areas near hwy 99. -

Haha! That's Crackerjack! He and his sister Isabel, were chasing each other around upstairs, and he came running downstairs and onto my husband's recliner. He propped himself up like that, looking for Isabel to come aftere him. It wa too funny! -
Shout Out To My Hubby
kerryk replied to phillygirl8133's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband has been awesome as well. He wasn't really happy about me getting sleeved. He supported my decision because he knows how much I have struggled with my weight, he just was concerned about complications and such. He has been right by my side the whole time, holding my hand, reminding me to drink, asking f I need anything. I couldn't ask for a more loving, caring husband to spend my life with! -
Pre Op Diet Question
kerryk replied to JourneyOfAFatKid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I did not need to do a sleep study. Everything was pretty straight forward. Wasn't expecting it, but they did need to fix a small hiatal hernia while they were in there. They said its pretty common even though I wasn't exhibiting any symptoms of having one. I would think you'll be able to get in on your timeline. Good luck and keep us posted! -
Pre Op Diet Question
kerryk replied to JourneyOfAFatKid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would bet you'll be able to be fast-tracked. I was in the same situation as you...low BMI, no complicating factors and self-pay. I was in a bit of a time crunch to get it done because of a pre-planned trip at the beginning of August and then going back to work at the end of August (I'm a teacher). So it was pretty important for me to get it done at the beginning of July. My first appointment was June 27th and I was sleeved on July 12. Pretty quick from start to finish! -

Iggy...when is your surgery date? I wish you the best o flick and a speedy recovery. And don't worry a bit. As I said, you will be in great hands. I really liked dr. Billing. I also posted a little "review" under the thread that talks about surgeons and hospitals...just in case you want a little more info. And any questions...just ask! -

I was just done by Billing at PGSC. He was great! You will be in wonderful hands with him and the rest of the.staff there. I was sleeved on Thursday (7/12) and am home resting comfortably. Pain is minimal...mostly just from gas. -

Just got sleeved on Thursday, July 12 by Dr. Billing. I just want to mention to anyone thiinking about using them for your sleeve...DO IT! They are awesome. From the office staff, to the nurses, to the surgeon and anesthesiologist. I felt completely comfortable in their hands. When I woke up after surgery, I was quite nauseaous and in a bit of pain. The nurses were right there anytime I needed them. They did everything they could to help ease the nausea and pain. Dr. Billing came by to check on me as well, and made sure I was doing okay. The sleeve is done as an outpatient surgery here and I and planned on going home for the night (about 2 hours away) and then going back the next morning for an IV. Dr. Billing insisted that I stay at a local hotel for the night and I sure am glad that he did. The drive home and then back up the next day would have been too much for my new little tummy to handle. I was given three bags of fluid before heading home on Friday. I was feeling a little pain, but the Roxicet wiped that right out and helped me sleep soundly. Of course, being in my own bed helps too. Today is even better. No need for the Roxicet. Just some gas pain after I take sips, but it passes quickly. Feeling pretty good, really. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. Billing and staff!!!
