Interesting. Getting sleeved in mexico on august 18th. Didn't think about the 3 month labs. I thought it was 12 months.

I am self pay (obese but not fat enough for insurance to pay). I researched dr. Lavin ($13k ish plus hotel and travel) initially for the POSE procedure (one of the few places that do it in the country) I spoke with the surgeon and really liked him. He said I would be eligible for self pay for the sleeve and that documented weightloss is greater with this procedure since it has been around longer. I started researching the sleeve on YouTube and google and found dr. Alvarez in Mexico. I decided not to go with dr lavins office office because they were not incredibly responsive (I'm not that patient once i set my mind on something) after a while and they were a lot more expensive then dr Alvarez. (He is $8,700 with hotel plus airfare). Initially my husband wigged out about me going to mexico (especially by myself) but I've done my research and have been impressesd with how responsive they are and how happy their patients are.

I know everyone is different but can you folks share your experience? I'm female, 5'9" and weigh about 220. I'm getting sleeved on 8/18. How much are you losing per week? At what point has it slowed down for you? Thanks!!

Congrats in your success! You must feel great! What was your starting weight? How tall are you?

Do you have any tips on what to eat the first few weeks after surgery? I'm starting to buy stuff for my surgery (8/18/2012 with Dr. Alvarez). He has provided clear liquid diet instructions but if folks have tips on what kind of unflavored protein powder (what do you add it to? water? broth? or do you buy the protein broth?). I don't want to stock up on a bunch of stuff that I won't actually eat/drink. Any thoughts on the Isopure drink (it seems expensive...I was going to see if anybody uses unflavored protein powder with crystal lite or vitamin water zero? Not sure how that would taste). Any tips are greatly appreciated!!

Thanks! I actually have been watching your youtube videos and went to your blog to see some recipes - I hope camping for the 4th was fun! I'll look at the early blogs to see post-op stuff. Thanks for both! i have found them very helpful! I'm excited to get on the losers bench!

I'm in Charlotte. Getting sleeved in mexico by dr. Alvarez in august 18th. How have your sleeves turned out? Are you pleased with the results?

I'm an august sleever! August 18th with Dr. Alvarez in piedro negres Mexico! Bought my plane ticket today and getting very excited! I'm 5'9" and weigh between 215-220lbs. I would be happy to lose 45lbs. Thrilled to lose 60-70lbs! No pre-op diet for me but I am trying NOT to have last supper syndrome this far out (making excuses to eat what I shouldn't because I know I won't be able to after surgery).

I travel a lot for work and won't be taking much time off for surgery. I am having surgery on saturday, august 18th with dr. Alvarez. How soon afterwards will I be able to travel for work (I'll be flying home from Texas on the 21st but may have to travel later that week for work)? I know it is pretty individual but would appreciate your experiences. Thanks!!

Where so you order your protein supplies? I want some decent broth and maybe protein I can add to water.

Thanks for the information! I imagine I'll be saving my company a lot if money too once I'm post-op. I'm going to pull out my rolling computer bag instead of my tote and probably check my luggage.
