    Hunger Returns...

I was banded on Aug 1, 2012. So I am now 6 days post op yeaaaaa! I got my appetite back about day 3. What I noticed though is that I find myself drinking a few sips of say my protein shake.. then I lose interest in it, and think hmmmm I wonder if something else will be better, so I go and trade it for some jello, take a bite .. lose interest... go back and see what else there is.. hahah.. I think that means I'm full, but since I have never felt "Full" before.. I'm having a little trouble recognizing it. lol.

    4 Das And Counting

Hi I had my band placed August 1st. I know we can do this. I had the same thoughts though right before surgery. I kept hearing that little voice telling me that it wouldn't work for me. ha.. well I think that's the great design of this, you really don't have much of a choice when you get it on. Its gonna limit your intake, and maybe just that little bit of help will be enough to help us get past the food and get a hold on our eating. Besides if your mom had it done too, that's a great mentor!!! Good luck with your surgery!
  4. probably gas, but if it doesn't get any better, or gets worse then call your Dr. thats what you paid him for!!!

    Liver Not Small Enough

I think my Dr. explained that the one person he couldn't do, with the "buttery liver" was because they have to use a retractor to hold the liver up out of the way when they are doing the lapband, and when he pulled the retractor back against the liver it slid into the liver cutting into it. So definately do the right pre-op diet... makes me shiver to think of that happening.

    Liver Not Small Enough

My doctor told me there was only one time in all the time he had been doing the surgery that he couldn't do it because the persons liver was so "buttery" (his phrase) I think that if you stick to your diet and try to start incorporating a lot of raw veggies and fruits in now, you should be fine. Its the fats and sugars that cause the problems in your liver.

    Waiting On Insurance Approval...........

I waited a long time for my approval too. I have been denied several times through the years due to insurance company that my work chose didn't or wouldn't cover bariatric surgery. I found out in April that the company we have this year did cover it. SO I was in a mad rush to get all the testing and approval done before we changed insurance companies again in August. I submitted June 26, got approved July 18, had my first appointment with my Dr. on July 24 and had surgery August 1. So talk about a whirlwind. haha.. But I got my lap band and they can't take it back now!! I will pray for you. I know that I will be a little ahead of you, but maybe that's a good thing, I can warn you about any issues. hehee.. like the fact that I can't eat more then a dinky cup of jello at a time. lol.. I LOVE IT!!!!

Just Got My Surgery Date!! 8/23

I got banded on 8-1-12. I understand your excitement and nervousness about the insurance. I have been trying off and on for 20 years to get some kind of bariatric surgery. I found out in April that the Cigna my company paid for this year would cover it. So I was in a crunch to get the approval and all the testing and jump through all of the hoops before they changed it again the end of August! haha. But its mine now and they can't take it away from me!!! The surgery went great, but then if you want this and need this as badly as I did, anything short of excruciating pain would be worth it!!! I am only 4 days post op and I can feel the differences already. My skin feels looser and my face looks different already. I have to lose 170 lbs to reach my goal weight. I feel better already. Good luck on your surgery, keep us updated. I'm so excited for you!
  10. If that's true, I will donate all my extra skin. They can have it all!!!! Do you have a site where I can go to see if this is the case? Or a number I can call?

Need A Lap Band Buddy In Houston, Texas

That's awesome, how are you feeling? I'm not to bad I guess, but then the truth is I would have walked through hot coals to get this surgery so anything short of horrid pain would be nothing to me. My intake has revolved around sugar free jello, water, and chicken broth. Oh and I had my first protein shake today, of course it took me 3 hours to drink 1/4 of the can. hahaha. but hey... Let me know how you are!!! I wanna know the details!
