what is considered a full band?
lucie159 replied to stephinfection's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am starting to feel the same way.. I got my band on August 1. I am now at 8 cc's in my 14 cc band and finally feel the restriction that makes me not think about food... for a very long time. I just have to remember to drink my water because pretty much it makes me not think about any kind of intake. -
What's Your Current Band And Fill Size?
lucie159 replied to Banderina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a 14 cc band.. I just went in and got a fill Tuesday bringing me to 8 cc's and I think that will be my green zone for a minute... I feel pretty tight. -
The tube turkey is nasty anyway.. you should try the other kind like.. Jenny-o. It will turn out much better, I promise. and maybe try browning the turkey meat first.

That is so NOT pathetic! I want to wear all the smaller sizes!!!! -
So... It's Thanksgiving next week, and I have been dreading it. You know.. all the foods that bring back memories of happy childhoods and family gatherings. Those are my real comfort foods. So since I have been banded this year and won't be able to do the whole eat until you drop thing.. I decided to Theme it. I told the family I am not doing huge Turkey dinner and all the fixings this year.. I am making itty bitty cornish hens (they will look like tiny turkeys...hahhaa) individual cups of mashed tatters and tiny individual pies. Of course they aren't happy about it....I say... COOK YOUR OWN DANG TURKEY THEN! hahahhaha HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

My small tidbit of information on this is that I find that I get stuck most often when I wait to long to eat. Causing me to want to "wolf" down those first few bites. So it's best not to wait to eat, small meals all day help avoid this.

Lucky you, you won't have to deal with Thanksgiving, cause you won't even be hungry.. hahah

I've had 2 different digital scales in the last 3 years.. neither one seems to work correctly. Wish I had a suggestion. I only trust when I go to the DR. that I am gonna get an accurate weight. I'm not saying I don't still use the lying piece of crap, but if It tells me I weigh 10 lbs more then the day before I just scream.. LIAR, LIAR PANTS ON FIRE! and go on about my business.. ahhaha.. its a great stress reliever!

So I Got My Ban But...
lucie159 replied to ChiefNoHow's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Awe honey.... if you think its gonna happen that quickly that you will get to skin and bones before you can control it.... well that's just silly, and you know it. And no one is gonna understand exactly what you are going through but US. Since we are going through it too. Your gonna do great. It will take time. But you did this for you. You need to get comfortable with you. They'll come around. And when they do, you'll be a happier and healthier you! -
I'd be careful of the sweet tea, its the sugar you want to avoid.. if you make it yourself with artificial sweetner.... well then I say ok... but don't use regular sugar.. just a bunch of empty calories.

Food Hoarder Discovery
lucie159 commented on Patience is a virtue...'s blog entry in Patience is a virtue...'s Blog
I DO THE SAME EXACT THING!!! So what are you doing to stop the process? I swear if I am not buying some new low carb, low fat, diet-whatever, just so I have variety to eat.. (which I never eat... most often I eat soup)!!!(I'm almost 3 months post op) then I am buying stuff to make some incredible dinner for my husband.. which is stupid cause if I fed him manwich everyday he would be happy. He doesn't care about fancy crap. Now my pantry is overflowing with food that will probably never get eaten, I would donate it to the food bank, but do they really want mediteranean quinoa?? lol Hello, my name is Lucie and I too am a food hoarder! -

7 Days Post Op - Waves Of Pain In Chest (Likely Stomach)
lucie159 replied to diamante's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
did you have a hernia repair? Thats what it felt like when I had mine. and though in our minds we parallel the band right behind our port, its actually up in our chest. Right center behind our breast bone, and the hernia, right there in that area too. so I would say its your healing.. give it time, but if it becomes unbearable... def call your Doctor. -
On my 3rd fill, (I've had 4 now ...yea me) I decided I wasn't gonna follow the Dr.'s orders... I was hungry dangit!! SO I went to subway... I got a 6" veggie sub..on flat bread... (it's a salad on cardboard how bad can it be??) anyway.. I took two bites and it all came back in reverse.. When they do the fill... (per my Dr....) he says that it may cause a slight bit of swelling in the area of the band.. and that you need to give it a day or two to let the swelling reduce before you stress it more. Or maybe Towanda..(that's my band's name) doesn't like her salad on cardboard.. who knows.. haha!
-
BE CAREFUL!! They are not lying when they say the alcohol will effect you differently after the band! A few sips will feel like you drank 2 glasses!!! Go SLOW!!! And make sure you have someone there who will take care of you!!

Question: Can "my Time Of Month" Or A Highly Charged/emotional Situation Earlier In The Day Affect The Tightness Of My Band? (Btw, No Fill Yet!)
lucie159 replied to LiveStrong41's topic in The Gals' Room
Yes! Its been my experience.. its temperamental!! It has a mind and personality of its own! That's why we name them!! Mine's name is Towanda!!!! Sometimes she will take something NO PROBLEM.. three days later I try to eat the same thing.... NO WAY!!! (whispering... I think she's crazy) -
GIRL!!! GO FOR IT! It is so hard to get approved through your insurance for this surgery nowdays. I say go for it. I missed my chance for some sort of surgery once upon a time... it took 20 yrs to get approved again! And it wasn't something I could afford on my own. I hope you go for it! You should be glad your Dr. is willing to do it without doing the pre-op diet! It will be a struggle in some ways, but how bad do you want this???? HERE IN HOUSTON, CHEERING YOU ON!!! Let us know!

I Messed Up... Bad :(
lucie159 replied to chellbell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You've had your first "stuck" moment.. you say you won't do that again.. but .. yes you will.. : ) It's not pleasant "WE" know! When your Dr. says Liquids... that means Liquids!! It's human nature to push the boundaries. It will be ok though. You'll learn.. its a mantra you should repeat to yourself over and over again..... "chew, chew, chew!! hehe -
Girl I ache for the day when I can say I wear a size 14!!! your doing awesome and don't let anyone tell you any differently.. are you still losing??? have you gained anything??? do you feel like crap??? well I say RUN DANGIT!!! RUN TILL THE WIND SWINGS YOUR PONYTAIL AROUND LIKE A WINDMILL!!!

Hello. Newbie From Houston
lucie159 replied to DBRN1972's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's the caffeine and sugar withdrawals. Sorry, you will feel that for about 3 or 4 days. It does get better though. Just try to get plenty of water in. I found that the more elaborate you made the process of making your protein shakes the better.. Add some fruit, put it in a fancy glass.. Heck, put a dang umbrella in it!!! Your on your way to better things!!! CELEBRATE! -
awe sugar I can so sympathize with you. I just changed schedules myself. I worked a night shift driving the city bus. So in addition to not being able to heat anything up, I didn't get a chance to eat a regular meal either. I did a lot of tuna and cold salad type things. And I had to learn to eat luke warm meals from a thermos.. I wish you luck, I had to change my schedule to be able to try to get the right nutrition in. If you figure anything out let me know, cause there is no guarantee that I will be able to keep this schedule past 6 months so I will be right back in the same boat. Good luck. Try doing your bigger meal in the beginning of your shift when you can get it kind of hot from a thermos, and then do protein meals the rest of the night. stop eating when you reach a "sevenish" time on your schedule. Those late night meals will kill you! Figure out what time your bedtime is after your shift and treat that like your time point.. If you got off like a normal person and went to bed at 10 then you would stop eating at 7... if you get off at 10 and go to bed at say 12 or 1.. then you shouldn't eat past 9:30 or 10. Again.. good luck!
