cbd replied to VitaleEM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How about mixing a fruit smoothy and adding the no taste protein drink? -
You look amazing...congratulations!

Good suggestions folks. You may be like me twho feels comfortable in a group but not in the spot light. You probably look soooo great that you don't want all the attention! Be proud of your accomplishment,

I am a little worried about clothes to wear while loosing weight. Someone suggested that I shop at the good will store. They said they have some nice clothes and then you won't feel so guilty about buying something and wearing it once. I plan on donating all of my clothes to goodwill that are too big as I go along.

So I Got Denied Today
cbd replied to DreamsOfSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was initially denied because they said I didn't submit the needed documentations for co morbidies. I resubmitted after seeing my primary and getting new labs done. I called to check on the resubmission and the insurance person told me that they had received it and didn't see any new info so sent out another denial letter. I nicely started to ask her if she saw then latest office note and new labs....she started looking and behold...she found the information...emailed the medical director and approved it within hours. i don't thing they even read it. Moral....keep calling and be persistant. Good luck. My sleeve date is January 10th. -
Yea!! I received the phone call....surgery date set for January 10th. Are there any other January sleevers out there? It would be nice to compare notes as we go thru this.
-
Well I hope it works out for you. Good luck and hopefully we are both January sleevers.

OMG!! I received approval from my insurance today!! I am sooo happy. I was in such a slump...this has been such a roller coaster so far. After being denied by BCBS of IL a few weeks ago (said I needed more documentation for my two co morbidities) I went back to my primary MD, had more labs done and resubmitted. I called the insurance yesterday and was told it was denied again because there wasn't anything new submitted. I very nicely started to ask questions about the new info we had sent...hight cholesteral, started on new med, etc. She had not seen that and started to look thru my submission again. She agreed to send an email to the doctor that decides. Today I received a call from her and the new information was enough to get it approved for the vertical sleeve. I am so happy. This just goes to prove what everyone else has said...keep trying. Surgery date won't be till around 1/13.

Got a call yesterday with my surgery date! I get sleeved January 10th. Are there anyother sleevers out there with the same date? Yeah!!
-
good luck on your journey
-
Looks like my surgeon is booked till January also. Hoping to get a date soon.
-
My BMI is 37. If it is 40 or greater you do not need any co morbidities. When I was talking to BCBS after my first denial she made the comment "you know, if you were just 3 points higher we wouldn't need anymore information". You shouldn't have any problems. Good luck!
-
Yep....January it is. I just received insurance approval yesterday and my surgeons office said they will call me soon with a date but that the surgeon is booked until Jan. I look forward to talking with the rest of you Jan. folks to compare notes and give support.
-
Good luck.....I guess my surgeon is booked till January so I have to wait. I've got my fingers crossed for you..hope you hear positive news soon.

She doesn't sound like a person you would want to be around or even CARE what she says. Good luck!

So I Got Denied Today
cbd replied to DreamsOfSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right there with you. Been working on this since May, submitted in Oct and one week later was denied. They said I didn't have enought documentation supporting my two co morbiditys. I have high bp and have been on medication for 13 years and have high cholesterol and have been unable tobring it down with diet and fish oil. I returned to my GP last week, had additional labs done. My cholesterol has gone up another 25 points..started on medication for that. She resubmitted labs and treatments. I called insurance today and they said they denied it again cause we didn't submit anything new. I asked them about the office visit not and labs from last week and she looked and acted like it was the first time she saw that. She sent the new info to the medical reveiwer and will call me when she hears an answer. I am sooo dissappointed and am not expecting to hear a good outcome. -
Hi...I am so disappointed today. My insurance (BCBS of IL) denied my surgery request. They said that the reason was that my hypertension and hi cholesteral were missing the documentation that those conditions have been treated with agressive medical management and still were not stable. I am waiting for a call from the insurance coordinator at the surgeons office to see if we can appeal. I have been preparing for this both mentally and physically since May and now this....I did not have a plan B. Somehow I knew this was too good to be true.
-
BCBS wants to see it in documentation that my bp and cholesteral are not under control after exhausting aggressive medical interventions. I am not sure that I can provide that documentation. I have been on medication for bp for 12 years and it is in a good range now. I have a PPO and it approved my surgeon appointment. I have gone thru all the steps required just prior to surgery (informational meeting, bod pod, three month supervised diet, surgeon visit and psych appoint). All was submitted to the insurance and I had called to check on the status of the pre authorization request and that is when the insurance told me that they had mailed out a denial letter the day before and why. I called my doctor and she wants me to come into the office, have some labs drawn and work on the documentation.
