Pain can give you some crazy dreams. Not a fruit cake. Walk around a lot! Take some simethicone for gas. If nothing works, Go to the ER of a teaching hospital. Tell them about your surgery and they will order the appropriate tests, starting with abdo xray, maybe a CT scan, a songram and finally an endoscopy if needed. I am an RN with 33 years behind me, -
I am in CT. My husband also has his own fep blue standard option. He would have to pay more if he was to have the sleeve done . With basic, you have to use a preferred provider and hospital, standard you don't, i wonder if there are more rules to the standard option because of this.

The nurse at the bariatric center told me no, at my consult. I hope she's right. They called directly to fepblue to get the requirements. Uggh. Now I am nervous. I'll know for sure next week.

I think it depends on the intermediary for your state. My fepblue does not require 3 months, just the letter from the pcp, one nut visit one psych visit. My surgeon requires the upper endoscopy to make sure I don't have ulcers.

Uncooperative Pcp?
valerie vargas replied to Christine1322's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My bariatric surgeon gave me a sample letter to give my pcp. I went one further and constructed my letter using the information needed about me according to the sample they gave. I printed it out with room for a the office header and all it needs to be copied on to their letter head and signed. Lets see if he goes for it -
I read my fep blue basic policy and it said 150 for the surgeon and 150 a day for overnight hospital stay...that's it. And the requirements are pretty shhhhhh

Uncooperative Pcp?

I too had a pcp who told me she wouldn't recommend it unless I weighed 400 pounds! I am 235 at 5'7" and hypertension severe plantar faciitis, arthritis . I immediately found a new and competent physician who agreed WLS was a good option for me.
