    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

Hi ya Buddy. Congratulations. I got home yesterday had to spend the night, surgery went well but they got back logged and I could not get my upper GI until yesterday and my prostate had a reaction to the anesthesia and swelled cutting off urine flow - I love my catheter.

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

I am diabetic and a low for me is when my blood sugar drops somewhere lower than 80. I get light headed, start getting confused and begin perspiring and I suppose I could pass out but I don't let it get that far. At that point I need to take in carbs. Well 7 days down and 7 to go on the liquid and then the big day. I spend a lot of time in front of the TV but now that the heat has broken looking forward to start walking again. Fred

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

This is my 6th day of liquid, not sure I may have slipped last night. We were out(date) and I felt a low episode coming on so I jumped into a chinese place and bought a large egg drop soup, it fixed the low but I feel a little funny about possible cheating. Not loosing any sleep over it though. I don't envy you on the 12 hr shifts, I did that for many years with the Navy and the airlines - Communications. Fred

Anyone Use Dr. Barba - Connecticut

I am still pre-op but so far I like him. Today he did my Endoscopy and Colonoscopy, Endo for the lap-band and the colon because I was due and he could do both in the same visit. Overall he and the staff at the Bariatric center have been great for me Fred

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

I have sort of an advantage as I live by myself with my dog. My girlfriend canceled our 4th celebration so that I could sit here by myself and not have to worry about outside influence. Prio to starting prep liquid, I cleaned out my fridge so there is nothing in there to go to - it works for me. Yesterday I had my pre surgery work basically just a blood draw and hospital procedures. Today I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy, on the endo dr found a little hernia that he will fix during the lap-band surgery. The colonoscopy was a failure as the eves prep didn't do its job and he could not see anything, it sure felt like it did it's job but I wasn't the guy looking down my colon so I guess that will have to be rescheduled but won't interfere with the lap band. Have you had your pre surgery tests yet? Fred

    Anyone Getting Banded In July?

For me it was about 6 weeks. 2 nutritionist meets, a physc meeting, a stress test, tomorrow a pre-surgery meeting at the hops and Friday an endoscopy/colonoscopy. The colonoscopy is not part of the lap-band but I was due and they said they cud due them at same the. my surgery is on the 17 july.

Ok buddie I will be watching for you. How is ur pre-op going. I am suppose to be doing 5 shakes a day but the best I could muster is 4. I find they just bloat me and fill me that I am just not hungry.
  9. In CT stop & shop has chicken broth with no fat, no sugar and 4 calories per cup and I can drink it cold or hot. My plan also includes sf jello and sf popsicles, decaf coffee and tea and crystal lite type beverages.
  10. I bought the chocolate and the banana so that I can take them alone or mix the choc/banana. So far the problem I am having is drinking 5 of them a day they just keep me bloated and have trouble with the 5th one yesterday. Hoping I will get hungrier and I can do the 5. My instructions are that I need an additional 48-64 oz liquid each day and I can use sf drinks, no caffeine( decaf coffee or tea is OK) no carbonated drinks, sf jello, sf popsicles. I guess each Dr has there own routine that they want you to follow.
  11. Started my liquid diet yesterday using "bariatric advantage" a product sold at my dr.'s office. Seems I am on a more restrictive program as all I can have in addition to the shakes is water, crystal lite, sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles or other sugar/fat free liquids. My main concern right now is blood sugar levels and insulin usage and testing a lot just to keep from going low.
