I have the lap band currently and im having the sleeve done March 4. When I'm nervous about something I think about the pros and cons and which outweighs the other. I will Be in some pain. I will have to work my way up to eating regular food again. I will be out of work for 9 days. I will have help losing weight!! I will finally be able to win this struggle I've had all my life!! I will feel amazing about myself. I will be able to.get pregnant without hormones and medicine. I haven't been hearing a lot of good.things about the lap band. Rumors of a recall because like us so many people are not losing weight. Its not working. I was talking to my nutritionist the other day and she even said the lap band is like a torture device. You're hungry but you can't eat. I couldn't even eat Protein. It got to the point where all I could get down is Ice cream. I only lost about 30 pounds. Do not think of this as a failure! Think of.this experience that the sleeve will not be anywhere near as hard as the lap band is! We've had it the worst! Its been really hard! But you have decided that you are not.going to Be a victim to.your weight anymore! You are going to be triumphant!!

They haven't given me any information yet. Just scheduled my gallbladder ultrasound and endoscopy.

Ouch! Pain Scale from 1 to 10? I have my surgery march 4th and im not looking forward to the pain.

I've seen skin bleach creams. Ive thought about using under my arms.Never used it though. Lol. Just saying I've seen it.

I'm pre op. I have the lap band now and I'll be getting the sleeve soon. I'm just wondering if you still feel the same restriction as with the lap band? Any differences? Any similarities? I hate feeling tightness in my chest from the band being at the top of my stomach and bottom of esaphagous and constantly throwing up and feeling the food go down. Anyone out there that went from lap band to sleeve? Please share! Any information and suggestions is helpful!

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant too! It's been a really depressing time and we've only been trying for 9 months. But I know if I lost weight I'd become more fertile and I'm so excited to have kids. I'm a little upset I'll have to wait a few more years after the surgery. But i'll get over it.

Hey guys! I am new to this forum. First let me say that it is so inspiring to see how supportive y'all are with each other. I am so excited to get this surgery and feel some support from other people going through the same thing. I'm 23. I got the lap band 3 years ago. At this point the sleeve hadnt been approved yet. And before surgery I was 250. After surgery I really got on the bandwagon, but I just couldn't lose the weight. I struggled with trying to eat constantly. I threw up constantly. Even Protein that I was supposed to eat, I couldn't get down. It was depressing. It was enbarassing. I couldn't go out to eat without staying in the bathroom throwing up all my food. It was awful. I got down to 230 and that's where I stayed. After 2 years my stomach started growing over my band and I had to get all the Fluid taken outta my band and I've gained all my weight back and more. I am now today July 4th at 265 and these past few months have been the most depressing of my life. One night last month I laid awake at night and couldn't stop thinking about getting weight loss surgery again. I considered bypass but that's just too major for me and idk about having children after that. The sleeve sounds perfect! I really hate the band. I hate throwing up constantly and being on the bathroom at all social occasions cause I can't get food down. Are there any quirks I need to know about? Foods that make you sick or what happens if you eat too fast? I'm waiting to hear back on my insurance but Im pretty sure they're going to approve it. I've already called and asked. So I'm very excited!! And I can't wait! I just hope I don't have to do the 6 month criteria. I look forward to the support from y'all and I'm excited to start this journey!

Thanks! lol. I'm looking forward to it. I just hope it would happen already!! lol!! I was looking at your first posts when you were debating and I was thinking DONT GET THE BAND!! lol. One thing I heard a dr say was with the sleeve you have quality of life and I thought to myself, "Quality of life?? WHat is that?" Lol. THere is no quality of life with the band.

You know I feel like if I do have any flabby skin or hanging fat, anything is better than how i look now, you know? ****, if I can lose 100 to 150 pounds? I DONT CARE WHATS SAGGING!! lol. I'm gonna show that **** off! Lol!

You are going to do great! Yes there will be some pain but trust me it will all be worth it! If I were you I'd just wake up and say "ok I made it through. I'm ok. I'm alive." and then just relax. Your throat is going to be dry because of the tube they put down to help u breathe. But you'll be ok!!!

How are you feeling? Any nausea? Anything you'd like to share? How long did your surgery take?

Yeah I have the lap band now and I hate it!!! I'm waiting on my insurance to approve getting the sleeve.

I would definitely wait! Follow doctors orders! If you can just hold on it'll be worth it! Just think you're not getting rid of it forever, just for right now. You can do it!!
