Have you tried the centrum flavor bursts? I am sensitive to smells and tastes so I have issues with a lot of foods/shakes/vitamins. They look like tiny gum balls and taste good. I just had my blood work done last week, I am 5 months out and everything was PERFECT. Even my doctor was pleasantly surprised. So they must work!!

The way it was explained to me is if you put a gummy bear in water, it expands. So it would do the same in our tiny sleeves.

You too! How are you?

I was told I didnt need one, only ID and birth certificate but I had already ordered it. My sister brought her ID and birth certificate and they didnt care one bit. I am glad I had mine, it made me feel at ease.

Potential emergencies and insurance
Losin4good replied to SoCalDixieGal's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My policy does also. The only "complication" I encountered was dehydration. And my insurance covered the 2 times i went in to get a bag of fluids. Good for you for checking! I am sure it eases your mind! -
I LOVE sushi and was really worried about having to give it up. I think I was around 12 weeks post op when i tried it again. it went down PERFECT! My favorite sushi place knows about my surgery and they were very happy to accommodate my new eating style. One of my favorite things to have was a salmon hand roll. So i just asked to make it minus rice. I used to be a rice fanatic so i do miss it, but i havent even tried to have it yet. I am 5 months post op as of yesterday. The longer i can go without it, the better I also eat sashimi a lot. Fish is so good for you, and my sleeve loves it!

my dr. of choice kelly wants to do 36 bougie i ha e low bmi help
Losin4good replied to Kristy Giovanelli's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
It really isnt a very big difference in size. The overall outcome of weight loss will not be determined by that tiny difference, it will be determined by you. I know people who had a smaller bougie size and eat more than i do. So i never really understood why the size mattered. If a doctor chooses the size for safety purposes, that would make me feel at ease. Go will your instinct -
Omar really is the best. I still text back and forth with him.

They sell them at Walmart where I live.

I bought a few to have in case I am in a bind. I like them. I am almost 5 months post op and one atkins meal can last me at least 2 meals.

Gallbladder Surgery After VSG?
Losin4good replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had vsg in august and gallbladder surgery exactly 3 months later. My gallbladder surgeon was fine doing my surgery, even though i had sleeve surgery somewhere else. He said the scar tissue was no issue. The recovery was a worse (for me) the first few days after surgery. By day 5 i was completely back to normal. I knew i was getting gallstones. I kept getting these little pains and finally went to the doctors. The next day i ended up in the ER with a gall bladder "attack". Worst day of my LIFE! Please dont wait for that. -
I am going shoe shopping tomorrow. Mine are 9W and my feet move around so much that the top of my foot hurts by the time i am done jogging.

ADDICTED TO DIET COKE
Losin4good replied to msreaina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep I used to go to McDonalds for a large diet coke all of the time. I swear they put something in it to make it better than anywhere else! -
ADDICTED TO DIET COKE
Losin4good replied to msreaina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a major diet coke addiction. I started weening off of it a few weeks before surgery. I was afraid that i would crave them uncontrollably after surgery, but i was so terrified of it causing problems in the sleeve that i wouldn't dare try one. I am 4 1/2 months post op now and i still haven't tried. I am afraid i will fall off the wagon if i try one. Or it will hurt. I have only craved it once. And that was at a bar while watching football. I stuck with water. Pre op.....that would have never happened! I would have had glass after glass. -
I knew it would happen, but I wasn't expecting this! I might be bald soon!
Losin4good replied to sarah14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My stylist said she definitely notices its thinning, but so far no bald spots! Fingers crossed! -

I am 4 1/2 months post op. i started shedding lightly around 3 months and now its pretty steady. Pretty much exactly what sassafras wrote. When I was pre op I swore I would not cut my hair. Everyone i know who had wls cut their hair and i have long thick silky blonde hair that i refused to give up. That didnt last long! Chopped it about 3 weeks ago! I have such thick hair I am actually liking the fact that i dont spend an hour blow drying it! Trying to look on the bright side ha ha -
If you were a binge eater before
Losin4good replied to amytug's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was a binge eater. My best friend is my food scale. Or for lighter things, my measuring cup. I measure or weigh everything before i eat. Another thing for me is to make a meal an event. That way it isnt mindless eating. Its planned. So even if its on the go, its thought out, planned, And weighed, so i cant overeat. i eat 2-3 ounces every 3-4 hours. I am 4 1/2 months out and my favorite thing about the surgery is its pretty impossible to binge eat, at least for me. When i get to 2 ounces, i am usually satisfied and its time to stop. I do not like the restriction feeling, so i will not eat until i feel restriction. Only until satisfied. I hope this helps. Good luck on your surgery! -

New guy here, you've GOT to read this!
Losin4good replied to BigFrank's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so glad someone finally said it. I dont even like to comment half the time because of the negativity. There is a way to support someone without being Rude or condescending. Its called respect. I dont know about everyone, but i practice what i preach. I cant tell my kids to be respectful and kind and then jump on the internet and do the exact opposite. I am also in a private group of people that all met here. There are 115 of us. And i can honestly say that we have not had one issue of people being rude or condescending. We choose to act like adults. And respect that we are all different and so are our plans. You are not going to like what everyone in a public forum writes, but if it causes you anger or for you to feel writing something rude is necessary, maybe its time to back up and do some re-evaluating. -

Losin4good replied to bbbslady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 1/2 months post op. some days i miss soda so bad! Like yesterday when we went to the bar to watch a game. I drink my water faithfully but OMG what I wouldn't give to order a large diet coke! Don't even miss beer..... but I used to be a diet coke addict. So i am facing my cravings for soda the same way i faced cigarettes when i quit 3 years ago. I am stronger than them! -

WLS and C-Sections
Losin4good replied to lwilliams65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had 2 c-sections and neither surgeon I seen seemed the least bit concerned about it. My c-section scar wayyyy lower than my sleeve incisions and gallbladder incisions. I cant see how it would be an issue at all. Has your surgeon mentioned it?
