Awake During Endoscopy?
jusstice replied to Fallenangel2904's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mine yesterday. They also game me Propofol. Don't remember anything after cursing out the stupid anesthesiologist who did not warn me that he was injecting the drug into the IV and that I should expect my hand to feel like a burning inferno. -
Thanks for the suggestions! I am off to the nearest Walgreens to buy me some relief. I was able to get a doctor's appointment- but not for two weeks. I think the worst part of this ordeal is not be able to see what the issue is. I have to rely on my husband's help. Another thing I can look forward to when I lose the weight- being able to tend & care for the kitty on my own.

Tonga it is. I did find this factoid a bit disturbing: If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would add 341,712,475 tonnes to the total weight of the world's population

It Was All A Fake!
jusstice replied to gelen's_change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi- glad it all worked out for you! I am in NJ, but I work in Manhattan. Nice to see some local folks. I hope to get sleeved sometime in Sept/Oct. -
Sleep Apnea...question
jusstice replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BTW- I saw the coolest CPAP mask yesterday. It was a soft-material mask, instead of plastic. It looks like it is made for women, and even comes in animal prints. I so want to try it. -
Sleep Apnea...question
jusstice replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just went to my followup visit yesterday to discuss the results of the second sleep study (with CPAP). Apparently, I went from having 28-100 interruptions an hour (without CPAP) to only 2 (with CPAP). I also had no leg movements. CPAP machine has been ordered and they said it should be delivered to me by the end of the week. Can't wait to get some quality sleep. -
Have I Been Forgotten?
jusstice replied to sramos89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you contacted your insurance to see what your coverage is and what their requirements are? That was the first thing I did, even before going to any seminar. This way I knew what to expect, which doctors and hospitals were in- network, etc. -
I hope it all works out for you. I asked someone about this, and they said that blockages are a concern for people who have had WLS (mostly bypass), and adhesions are concerns, especially for people who have had multiple abdominal surgeries. This may be the doc's concern, considering you already have had a blockage.

Oh, and for aerobics, the swim unitard is more comfy than a regular suit because it provides support to all the jiggly bits. It's not just better from an aesthetic perspective.
-
If you are going to be doing water aerobics you should invest in a unitard. I bought one online at swimsuitsforall.com and loved it for water aerobics. You look better than in a swim suit because it holds all of you in and, since it has legs (thigh coverage), nothing can hang out.

Awake During Endoscopy?

I am waiting for the nurse to call so that I can schedule mine. I hope to remember to ask. -
Sleep Apnea...question
jusstice replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had such a horrible night's sleep last night compared to the night with the CPAP. I am tired, groggy and achy. Maybe this is a good thing come of all this testing for the sleeve. I am looking forward to be well rested. -
Surgery Tomorrow! But Had To Go To Er

According to my brother- Kidney Stones are the closest men come to experiencing child birth. -
Sleep Apnea...question
jusstice replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got home from my second sleep study- had to be fitted with the cpap machine. They say I have sleep apneas and hypersomnia to the point where I can almost qualify for disabilty. I was not too impressed at first with the machine. The tech tried on a full face mask, a nasal mask that looked like a pig snout and 2 nasal pillows. I did not like the full face one, or the nasal pillows. I tried to sleep with the nasal pillow becasue it seemed like the most comfortable looking one. I woke up in the middle of the night because of leaks and pressure points. I switched to the piggy snout and slept like a baby. I cannot remember the last time I woke up feeling so refreshed. It may not be pretty, but if it makes me feel better I am all for it at this point. -
I get the same thing from my hubby (it's easy way, if you went to the gym more, try the liquid diet and if it works why have surgery, blah blah blah). I choose to ignore it and then he gets back on board. He knows I need to get healthy. i think somewhere it has to do with insecurity- you were big when we met & married, why are you trying to change now? I think if he feels I am trying to change me, then maybe I will want more changes. Men don't like change, IMHO. We are here for you!

It is one of the things I am hoping for. Not that it is bad now, just harder. -
Aug 22 Marks My One Year!
jusstice replied to fat yes ugly no's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love it! You were about my size/shape (before), so I love to see how you look/feel now. I can only hope to be as confident & successful as you look. -
I can't help you with your questions. but just wanted to say good for you for taking charge of the situation and making the decision. I sometimes wish I could, but I have to wait out the insurance scheme.

This May Be Inappropriate, Forgive Me :)
jusstice replied to futureskinnypants's topic in The Gals' Room
Thank you for this thread! I am pre-sleeve. My hubby made a comment about Ms Kitty and how she was fatter and would she shrink. I thought I could find out here if MS Kitty would lose some padding, and I guess I was right! Still laughing about this thread. -
Pre Op Pulmonary And Sleep Study
jusstice replied to chad2rad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did the sleep study and also the study for daytime sleepiness. I was there from 7:30PM to 4:00PM the next day. The daytime test started when they woke me up at 6:30 AM. I had to stay awake for two hurs, then nap for 20 minutes for the rest of the day. I was exhausted, grumpy and to rip the wires off and kill someone by the middle of the day. -
Awake During Endoscopy?
jusstice replied to Fallenangel2904's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the redhead thing. While not a total redhead, I have lots of natural red streaks & freckles. Novocaine does nothing for me unless you up the dosage. Unfortunately, found out that lidocaine is useless as well during a lumpectomy! So far, knock on wood, have never had a problem during surgeries. -
Hi- I am somewhat in your shoes. I am also 42, overweight my whole life, and have a similar bucket list. I am in the midst of a 3 month insurance regimen. If I have one more person tell me that I should be able to lose weight without surgery, I may harm them. Hang in there!

Previously Unknown Health Problems Found While Getting Pre-Op Tests Done?
jusstice replied to Christine1322's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have discovered so far that I am prediabetic, severely Vitamin B deficient, Vitamin D deficient and Zinc deficient. Also, tested for sleep apnea but I don't think so (probably a teeth grinder though). Let's see what else the rest of the hoop-related testing discovers. -
Does Anyone Have Aetna Insurance? And Did You Have Any Problems Getting Approved?
jusstice replied to LizR's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Aetna. My BMI is 50+, prediabetic and high cholesterol. I am in the middle of my 90 days here, visiting the Dr, doing the NUT visits, scheduled Psych eval, and completed sleep study. Hopefully, these few months will go by quickly and I won't have any issues getting approval.
