What Do You Tell People About Ypur Weightloss?
petite-size-me! replied to dooter55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My issue to telling the world is that I worked hard pre-op to lose 45 lbs, healthy diet and exercise. Now 18 days post op and it hasn't been easy. And you know what, I will still have to diet and exercise, this is just another tool. So my issue is ppl who think WLS is for the lazy fat ppl to have an easy way out. So not true. And I dont have the time nor inclination to reinform the closed minded masses. -

In Australia I use actilax which is a lactulose syrup (liquid) ask at your pharmacy to see if there is an equivalent. Draws water into the large bowel to soften stool. -
Pain In Left Side
petite-size-me! replied to birthygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's how I found out I had a hernia, coughing kills! Mine were ingroinal, so between hip and pubis but still abdominal iykwim? They were cause by twin pregnancy, not sleeve surgery tho. -
I originally went in because my hernia wound was open and bleeding and they said while I was there they would pop a cannula in and give me some fluids since its so hard to stay hydrated post sleeve. it did help, felt a bit more energetic while telling hubby off. Lucky we live in Australia because the access to food I would kill him for is much greater in Texas! Spinach enchiladas for one!

Have To Hold My Belly When I Walk
petite-size-me! replied to lowe1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I had hernias repaired with my sleeve and finally got an abdominal binder as the hernias are in my groin, apron/ pannes region and feel like they just swing about. Have a look at shape wear like spanx or go a step further to binders or compression garments. Definitely helps! -
My husband stopped on the way from hospital with me in the car and got KFC drive thru. I don't eat KFC. Even pre-op. But I got really irritated with him anyway! I had been in emergency for 4 hours getting fluid drip. My stomach was trying to eat itself. Although no way I would have eaten KFC, I was angry he didn't go on his way to pick me up instead of after getting me? Even if he had thought of bringing a resource drink for me would have helped. I was definitely angry but not cause I wanted his food!

Sleeve Vs Gastric Bybass

Maybe go for a second opinion if u can? -
My sleeve surgery was perfect! Only nausea from meds after but once they changed OxyContin and endone over to just targin, beautiful! The hernias, still suffering 18 days out but they were open surgery through my old caesarean scar, so feels like I've had my caesarean all over again, except this time I have toddler twins to cope with! Happy to be sleeve buddies and share your journey!!

Telling People - Or Not
petite-size-me! replied to enigmachik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesterday I went the grocery store in another town, an a pushy lady was offering ciobani yogurt samples. I simply said do u have a plain one? She said I do but try this one. I said no, I've just had surgery and I'm on a restricted diet, just the plain thanks. She said OH lapband? I said no, sleeve. Then proceeded to explain the differences and answer her questions. I spent way more time than I really had but she was a bit overweight and her questions seemed innocent enough. Then she looks in my trolley and says, surely you shouldn't be buying those cookies then? So I'm standing there explaining to this woman I don't know why I have a pack of cookies in my trolley! I have a husband, a 17 and toddler twins! The older 2 like cookies, eat in moderation and do not have weight issues. Just rude IMO! -
I think you can click on my profile and see all the posts I have made. The first couple were detailed about taking care of yourself post op and healing your self before looking for weightloss. Information gleaned from hospital nutritionist.

It's normal! Sleeve or no sleeve! Step away from the scales! Put them away! There's a trainer in Australia that uses the WWWW system Wednesday. Wake. Wee. Weigh. Always the same day, always the same time. Always the same scale. -
The ROD not rid
-
My surgeon knows how to check the bougie size (from my lay understanding, the rid inside your tummy they use to gauge how much tummy to leave? They staple against it) I don't think I want to chose that! Pylorous? Isn't that a landmark of the tummy or esophagus they use when cutting? In my opinion, no. Chose a surgeon u trust and let him use his degree to your benefit. But I'm sure there are other opinions. (and I could be completely wrong with what I understand these to be!) Melbourne girl here!

In Australia my surgeon used a laparoscopic tool that cuts, staples and double line sutures at the same time. Wish I could remember the name of it. Ultrasonic or ultrasound something. I watched a utuve video of one of the Mexico doctors and she used the same device.

Hot Flashes When Eating?
petite-size-me! replied to TMyers1471's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only 17 days post op but yes! I think though it's usually when I eat too fast. Does it happen sometimes or all the time? Me sometimes. I had my gallbladder removed at the same time due I gallstones I had know about for 2 years. Sometimes I get diahrea and get the hot flashes just before that as well. I've put it down to digestive upset, things moving too fast. -
