Five Years Post Op N Gaining Weight
petite-size-me! replied to NOLA Lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have had a rough patch. You have fallen off the wagon, but you have not been run over by it yet! Hop back on and take the reins!! We are all cheering for you. We want to see you succeed in dropping that 25 lbs and succeed in reclaiming that inner strength and drive that took you so far before! I do take an anti anxiety/depression medication written by my obesity nutritionist (also a GP or pcp for u guys). She says ppl who use food to cope need help when you take that away. There is no shame seeing a therapist nor taking medication for chemical imbalance (depression). If it was insulin medication, no one would think twice, it's the same thing. Exercise releases feel good endorphins, find something you love, crossfit looks cool! And lastly remember--- the best revenge is looking good!! -
Yes to milk! Slow goes.. Just to make sure u tolerate. I need smart milk now

Lactose Intolerance
petite-size-me! replied to LorLor00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard and seem to experience that cows milk is hard for humans to process. Something about complex proteins made for a Cow digestive system, they have 4 stomach pockets! Now that we don't have our whole stomach to process them, we can't handle it. Recently though i have heard that its not the protein but the casein, A1 vs A2. I have been able to have smart Milk (A2) with success, but regular milk (A1) and sustagen both cause something akin to dumping for me. Here's a snippet from an article I was reading: For many who find dairy hard to digest, the problem is not lactose, but casein, one of the main proteins in milk, explains Peter Nathan, CEO of dairy company A2. "About a quarter of people have a perceived intolerance to dairy but only about five per cent of people are diagnosed as lactose intolerant," he says. A2 only uses milk from breeds of cows that produce milk with a form of casein that many people find more digestion-friendly. "Many people can drink A2 where they couldn't otherwise drink milk," Nathan says. -
Pre op I loved a decaf long black! Post op I have been told its fine, but I'm sadly off it. Doesn't sound good at all! 3 weeks since I've had a coffee. I have had a couple of spiced chai latte with A2 light milk... Yum

Almost 3 Weeks Out, Things Aren't Great.
petite-size-me! replied to blossom12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm just over 3 weeks out and Popsicles are the easiest and best thing for me haha Fluid but no Protein. So I use them as reward, get my protein in in, get a Popsicle.. Nut said during the week she wanted me giving up shakes and just having food but since 3 bites is still my limit, there's no way, she said 2 shakes 1 meal but have food as Snacks to get my levels up. It is nauseating to eat when u don't want to. -

That is awesome! Enjoy! Now.. In perfecting the self portrait, u wanna lift the phone slightly inducing a downward angle instead of holding it in front of you! This was told to me by my 17 yr old. Apparently gives a flattering angle (at 17 aren't all your angles flattering??) lmao! -
Need Help Managing Major Back And Postoperative Pain
petite-size-me! replied to Newbie girl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There are new pain meds that replace the traditional opiates and do not adhere to the stomach. I wonder if you can see a pain specialist of some sort? Just for a medication review. I was taking 2 traditional opiates just after surgery and I was so sick and they seemed not as effective. I was given targin (in Australia, may have a different name in the USA) no more nauseau! Another thing is that some long acting pills no longer work as well as before. Who would you see for a full medication review that would know enough about your pain and the sleeve to be effective? -
Who Are The Best Gastric Sleeve Surgeons In Mexico ? Decisions Decisions!
petite-size-me! replied to Hoping2BSleeved's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I think the consensus would be that ur OP needed only the list of doctors you are considering and a request for any experiences with those doctors. 'naming an shaming' other people's doctors would be insulting the choice they made previously and definitely would get their backs up. I had my surgery in Australia, but would probably be offended if someone denegraded my choice of surgeon for whatever reason. Whether it be truth or not, there is a considerate way to address topics and a sensitive way to treat people. I hope you get the experience you are looking for. -
Lost 12 Kilos (26 Lbs) Since June 21
petite-size-me! posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hey all, Went to NUT today. Felt like a pop quiz. What are you eating, are you taking Vitamins, are you getting Protein, hows the Water intake, are you tracking? Not sure I left with any knew knowledge, except that pre op testing showed I was already very low in VIT D (32). She weighed me and said, down 12. And walked to her room.. where is my BOOYAH!! thats one of my toddlers!! PMSL! That is 26 pounds in 3 weeks.. without trying specifically to lose, just following the plan and getting protein. I am feeling cranky but I think Auntie Flow may be about to visit and this darn seroma over the hernia repair is the size of a grapefruit and it HURTS! Good news is the practice manager has put me in with the surgeon tomorrow for a wound review and hopefully will get some relief from the seroma. -

List Of Can/can't Eat Foods...
petite-size-me! replied to Parker's Dad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only issue I've had is with sustagen-- think its the milk and sugar combo. Everything else (although only week 3 and haven't had veggies, bread or cake) has been well received including puréed roast and mince with lentils puréed. I switched to A2 milk, it's Protein is broken therefore easier to digest. Not sure what u call it is USA tho. -

She usually says no more shakes after todays appt but has decided since I am not eating enough I can keep them! I need them to make my prtein! I chew 3 bites of refried beans and I am full! -

2 cents from the dental point of view (especially sipping all day) put a tooth in a cup of soda and it will dissolve in a couple of days. If u r going to 'treat' yourself to soda, do ur teeth a favor, drink it at one set time and either rinse with Water or brush after. It's like baby bottle tooth decay, constant drinking milk from bottles, taking bottles to bed and such causes the teeth to be bathed in sugary goo and they rot away. Some ppl I know suck lemons frequently, same result as coke, way to much acid to put on it teeth over and over. This is not sleeve related, I know, but just thought I would share.
