  1. I also hate to cook. I live alone, which makes for a truck load of leftovers. I eat a lot of protein bars, and string cheese. This is really easy to fit in with my work schedule, too. Sometimes I cook meals for dinner, and sometimes my parents invite me over and send me home with leftovers. Lol. Also, I try to add the Special K protein pack mixes to my water. Every bit helps! Oh, and I love to snack on mixed nuts, too.

    Stupid Slider Foods

What are you eating/drinking? I didn't have to do a pre-op clear liquid diet, but post op I alternated like an ounce of a clear liquid every 15 mins. I set a timer. I had chicken broth, different flavors of sugar free Jello, crystal light "popscicles" aka ice cubes I had made, Water, etc. I know it gets boring, but just think that it's worth it long term.

    Where are my Flirty Thirties?

Thank you! These past 15 months have def. been a journey, but the LORD has a plan and I'm trusting in Him. in the grand scheme of life things could be much worse. Despite all my illness, I'm really happy with my weight loss. And on really bad days retail therapy is sometimes the best medicine. Lol.
  4. Hooray for you! Keep up the good work!

    Where are my Flirty Thirties?

I lost around 120 lbs in the year after my surgery. Right after my surgery I found out I had been growing a benign tumor in my spinal cord for years and I had a congenital brain malformation, so my weight loss kind of became secondary to other health issues. I've spend a lot of time in the hospital ( 4 surgeries since my WLS) and they mostly pumped me with fluids, and wouldn't let me eat. I'm happy with the amount I've lost, but now that I'm ( hopefully) finished with surgeries, I'm wanting to focus on a healthier diet and strength training exercises. Thankfully I found this site for ideas and support!

I Did It The Baked Ricotta!

. I've been making it in mini loaf pans. I really like it, but it's just me and I don't want to eat it every night for a week. . I don't really cook a lot, b/c a. I hate it, and b. it's just me and cooking for one can be difficult. But I'm trying to cook more. And I teach pre-k, so I have no idea how to spell big words and I can't count past 20.

Fries in a Wendy's Frosty = delicious! At least it used to be... Lol.
  10. Hey UTGal99! I cannot recommend that you do or do not have the surgery, only you can make that decision. I can however share with you a little bit about the experiences I've had since I was sleeved in March '11. After I was sleeved I did develop a truck load of gallstones and had to have my gallbladder removed. Yes, it was painful, and yes it sucked to have another surgery, but it really wasn't that big of a deal for me. In the middle of all this, however, I found out I had a 8 inch tumor in my spinal cord and a somewhat rare congenital brain malformation. Thankfully, the tumor was benign, however it caused a lot of nerve damage. So, since my sleeve surgery in March '11, I've had 4 other surgeries... The gallbladder, 2 spinal related surgeries and brain surgery a little over a month ago. I tell you all of this, not to garner sympathy, or sway you in any way. I tell you this b/c I am the google queen when it comes to surgeries, diseases, conditions, etc. I've learned to take all of the " horror stories" with a grain of salt. For every bad story, there are 10 amazing ones that aren't being told. At least thats what I think. I def. think the opinions of others matter, but don't let it carry the most weight in your decision making. Oh, also, the tumor was completely unrelated to my WLS. I had been growing that bad boy for years, and I had I not had the surgery and lost a decent amount of weight, I would probably be paralyzed right now. Good luck to you!

    Playstation For Some Exercise?

I say go for it! I don't think it could hurt you, and if you aren't getting any results after a few weeks, just try something different. I've used the Wii for some exercises. It's fun!

    Body Dysmorphia In Reverse

I completely understand what everyone is saying. Now I'm trying to adjust to the new me, but that's not a bad thing. I catch my reflection in windows, etc. and frequently stop and look b/c I can't believe it's my reflection. At the same time, I see old pics of my self and think, " I can't believe I was soon big!" It's def. an adjustment, but I like adjusting to the new me. . Good luck to everyone on your WL journey and may you enjoying watching your body transform as much as I have enjoyed my transformation!

    Swimming!

I really like to run in the shallow end of the pool. Great resistance and fairly low impact. But I recommend wearing water socks b/c it tears up the bottom of your feet.
  18. I'm new(ish) to the board, too! Welcome and good luck!

    Swimming!

I love to swim! My parents have a pool so I have the luxury of using theirs and having privacy, but even before I lost weight swimming was a given. I live in Texas and it's too hot to not get in! But it's a great workout!

    Keeping Surgery A Secret.....

I told a few people before, but I've been honest with people post-op for several reasons. 1. I know the struggles of being overweight and I would be very upset if someone lied to me about how they were losing weight if I asked them. 2. Several other teachers I work with have had some type of WLS so I have a great support group at work. We are like a giant family. 3. After I had my surgery I had some other health issues that popped up. They were completely unrelated to my sleeve surgery, but I had to have a few other surgeries after the sleeve. People offered to bring me food, so I had to politely decline and say why. I def. didn't post it on my fb that I'd had WLS, but if people ask I tell them the truth. People have generally been very supportive and encouraging. If anything I hear, " you're too skinny," and "you need to eat.". It wasn't so bad at first but it got a bit old.
