  1. my surgery was at 2:30...went in at 3 everything was done by 4:30, sat in recovery until almost 7. It takes a while for me to get going after going under. I hope to recover quickly...tomorrow will tell! Ha!
  2. I did it! Woo hoo! Man was I scared and a big baby, but that surgicenter has the kindest and caring nurses and employees I've ever seen. I' m a little sore, but seem to be doing great. I did take some pain medicine when I got home. I never realized just how crappy the freeway is between the Springs and Denver, not until I felt every bump and pothole from there to here! Got home around 8...now I'm thinking about doing the stairs to get to my room...hmmmm! HA! Thanks for everyone's support and I still can't believe I really did it. For you guys on Monday and Tues...it's not nearly as bad as one can imagine. I sure blew it way outta proportion in my head. Keep us posted! Tater, Tater, Tater...how ya doin? I've crossed over to the "lighter side", and I was still down 12# on the hospital scale....gotta get that ticker thing done!:clap2:
  3. Hey Mal! I'm scheduled for 2:30. I still feel like I might chicken out. I've got this anxious feeling in my gut and I think that I could start crying at any time. My Grandma called and wished me luck said she loved me very much and that she would pray for me all day. Goodness I started crying. What a baby, huh? My Mom has never supported this (although she is watching my boys while I am here) and I know she had been crying when she got to my house yesterday. We've had a lot of personal loss in my family so everyone gets very anxious with hospitals and medical things. But this is very important to me, so I just gotta "suck it up, buttercup!" I look at the before and after thread with the pictures and those damned pictures that I took of myself yesterday. That oughta do it! The worst part is just sitting here waiting for 1:00. I have nothing to do. Can't eat or anything...heehee! So I have been sitting here on this thread (brought the laptop) and playing games. Tater! Tater! Tater! Today! I'm so glad it didn't snow too much! Drive safely and I'll be waiting to hear from you. You can email my msn account if you want to, too. :clap2:
  4. Oh, ya, I took before pictures yesterday. Oh my. I looked at them. Not posting those until things really change. Ever look at a picture of yourself and just think, "is that really me?" I don't feel like I look like that. Must be all the years of avoiding cameras and morrors. (I'm the picture taker in our family) It was quite a good reminder of why I am doing this.
  5. DynamoMini and Lap Dancer~Monday's the day! I'll wish the best now, but I know that I will be back on before that. :clap2:
  6. Thanks! I'm certainly on pins and needles! The huge storm seems to have diverted and is mostly south-east of here, so looks like I get to go home afterwards...Yeah! It will still be a yuckie drive through the county line, but certainly not impassable. Wish it was later already.:nervous
  7. Thanks DynamoMini! I'm up in Parker tonight and it hasn't snowed since I got here about 3 hours ago, but I guess it's getting ready to. We'll see how much there is by tomorrow at 1. It's only about 1/2 mile up the road to the surgical center from here, so hopefully it won't matter how bad it is. We brought the 4x4! Hee hee! My hubby and I went out for my "last supper" HA! Applebee's salad....mmmmmm. I will cherish that salad...
  8. Sunnysea~Supposed to snow like nut thurs night and friday...fairly nice sat and sun and snow again on monday...sorry! Don't know if the Cherry Creek area is safe at night, but it is certainly a beautiful area during the day! Going to Parker in a couple of hours...One more day. Goodness I'm nervous!
  9. Hey, Tater! Well, that blizzard that's coming is supposed to hit Thursday eve or afternoon. Waaah! So we decided to get a room in Parker for Thursday night possibly Friday night. Not really what I want to do or where I want to be(nothing is better than your own bed) but the Doctor's office just doesn't seem to think that it's going to be that big of a deal and the show will go on. (I called again today) The surgical center said they give a day's notice if it is to be cancelled...so we'll know tomorrow? I got a room at the Hampton Inn in Parker because they offered a surgical discount. (the holiday inn would not offer one for those nights.?) So, whatever you decide! I don't really know what area of Colorado you are coming from. I'm getting quite jittery though! I'll be glad when it's done!
  10. Hey, Mal! That was me, I had on a brown sweater. I was at the office forever cuz they put me in a room to see the Doc after the med student went through most of the pre-op stuff and I was forgotten for about an hour! My 2:30 appointment was not over until 4:30 or so. I wish you had said HI! I will probably go to a support group at least once, even just to meet some of you. I'm glad to hear that some of you can take whole pills. I take Effexor XR and it is a slow release capsul so Dr. K. changed it to regular Effexor twice a day...what a pain. I forget to take the other sometimes. Lets see how often I forget to take it twice a day! Tater~the storm thing has me uptight too. And Dr. K. looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if there were any weather circumtances that it may be cancelled. I wonder if my hubby and I should just spend the night in Parker, and maybe Friday night so that we don't have to drive through any bad weather. A car wreck after surgery just doesn't sound all that fun to me! Jabell76~Welcome! Call the nutritionist and ask how many carbs you should be getting. I have pretty much followed the induction part of Atkins and have not had any bread, pasta, rice, flour, sugar, or potatoes. Pretty much just meat, eggs, cheese, veggies and various fats(salad dressing, mayo, etc) DynamoMini~ they told me I should take a chewable vitamin. I'll be taking meds like my kids...oh my. You know, when you give them the big fake smile and the "oh, it doesn't taste that bad". Now they can watch me and the faces I'll make with the taste! Ha! 3 more days!
  11. Okay, I'm back from the pre-op appointment and the good Doc said the surgery goes on pretty much regardless of the storm, so! I also found something else out today...the crushed and liquid meds are not just for the first month after surgery, they are forever. Can any of you take regular meds after the band? This isn't going to change my decision but it's going to be a pain to crush meds twice a day instead of taking one extended release capsule once a day. And the med student that Dr. K has on right now said the pre-op dulcolax suppository isn't optional. :faint:oh no. (that's all I got to say about that) Congrats, Drewslou...I can't wait to be 35 lb from goal...
  12. Tater, it's supposed to be more than cold on Friday. It's supposed to storm big time. I'll find out today if there is a chance for cancelation related to the weather. How far are you coming? It's only an hour from here, but the roads north can be kinda rough. Old highway 86 is my most direct route, but it isn't as well maintained during storms as I-25. Maybe I should stay the night in Parker Thursday night to make sure I can get there? I'm so excited and twiterpated over this that my mind goes a hundred miles an hour. I, too, am a bit freaked out over the suppository thing. I haven't had to deal with anything like that since high school when I had a flu from hell. (was too sick to care) Mal, you'll like the Doc. He'll put you at eaze about the whole thing and your decision to change yourself. We'll probably miss each other in the office, so let us know how it goes. No undies, huh? What about that car crash your mom always warns you about? Not only should you have them, they should be clean, if not brand new. And you should bring extra just in case the undie-stealing gnomes get to them in the surgicenter! Hee hee! Have a great day!
  13. Hey everyone...just got back from Las Vegas...very fun, even without cocktails! (Paula told me no way before the surgery!) Got to see Josh Groban at the MGM Grand and it was great! (My Christmas present from my hubby) And somehow, I managed to stay on my hi-pro diet. (no cheese cake buffet for me...:cry ) But I had a lot of shrimp and prime rib...mmmm. I guess pretty soon a lot less will do it for me. I'm down 12 pounds since the pre-op diet started, and all the walking on the strip.:clap2: Tater, I did know that it was in Parker, which is good for me because I'm in the Springs so it's a little closer. Hope that the weather is better than today. The drive home from Denver this morning was nail biting. I'm not sure how many people I saw crash on the way through Castle Rock, and how many more close calls. (25?) Machele, thanks for letting us know that it's easier than this huge deal we are making in our heads. I'm still pretty uptight, even after an awsome weekend. My pre-op consult is tomorrow at 2:30 and I'm really getting excited! OMG! 5 more days!
  14. Hey, all! Thanks soooo much for the support! It really does help!
  15. Hey, Tater and everyone. I'm getting excited too...maybe a little too excited. I tend to suffer anxiety :nervous which I take something for. I went to bed with heart palpitations last night (which I haven't had for years) and woke up at 4am with a panick attack. Rats. I'm not having doubts and I really want this done. Did this procedure start getting to anyone else this way too? Maybe it seems a little more real now because my loan went through yesterday to actually pay for this. :clap2: I found a place in the Springs that will order the IDS liquid protein vials for me (I don't have to get 12 of each or pay shipping!) and he has a lot of other really good proteins and ideas to help out with deficiencies. 10 more days and it's really going fast. Wish I wasn't such a nervous nelly. Sorry to spaz on you guys, but thanks for listening!
  16. Shesha~ Congrats on the pant size! Yeah! I managed to keep my pregnancy weight from my Hubby too, and then, close to the last day while in labor, the stupid nurse hollared it across the labor/delivery floor to the nurse taking notes behind the desk. Oh, the horror!!:embarassed: Heehee! 17 more days!:bolt:
  17. Thanks for the supply sites, Tater. I'll go there after here. I guess I do need to get stuff together. I was a little more than 5 lbs over on their scale too. Like 5 lbs really matters in the relm of things when you are 120 lbs over weight. :girl_hug: The reason I got the 13th is because someone cancelled, other wise I think that it was going to be the 25th. Maybe unlucky for someone...not for me! I really liked everyone there. Dr. K has a very reassuring way about him, does he not? Very matter of fact and positive that this system works. I was a little apprehensive before, but not anymore. Does their nutritionist help you set goals (she is out of town for a week) or is this something that I do? I'm like you, I don't want to be too careful so that I am not "let down" again, but need to be where I really need to be. I also have one other question about this site...when you see that someone is viewing on here, is there instant messaging ability? Just wondered.
  18. Hey, Tater Bug!!! I finally got my date with Dr. K, and I am also April 13th! Mine is at 2:30...how about you? Man, they weighed me in the office today and I guess that my home scale is a bit off. Rats! Oh well, guess that is all about to change anyways. You know what else? My husband came with me today and actually heard what I weigh.:embarassed: It's not that he doesn't know that I am fat, (really!) he just really never knew the exact amount. I'll live! Can't wait! :clap2:
  19. Tomorrow morning is my consultation! Hee hee!:clap2:
  20. DrewsLou, that would feel like a long time to go without losing. (I'm happy when I don't gain in 4 weeks!:biggrin1: ) But looking at your posts it looks like you're pretty active now, so perhaps you're building muscle. Did the Dr. office give you some good advice? Hopefully! Lapdancer, you'll like Parker, it's cute. I wouldn't mind living there at all. Your consultation was/is 5 days before mine.(I'm the 23rd) I hope that I am able to get a date as quickly as you are. I would be thrilled to get this done before summer. Here's to us! :welldoneclap:
  21. DrewsLou...I think that you are doing great! How long has it been since you leveled off? I hope that I do as well as you have. It's also good that you get great support from Dr. K's office. Sometimes I need to have my "hand held" through things. (support or needy? hummmmm:confused: ) Hope that their advice works for you!
  22. It's pretty great to see all these other people going to Dr. K. My first consultation with him is Friday...getting a little anxious just about the consultation. Don't know how I'll ever make the countdown to the actual procedure. Speedy recovery to all of you. Is Dr. K. the only doctor to treat this as outpatient? Parker is a little closer to me than Aurora as I am in The Springs. I'll probably be posting a bit more. It seems to help with the anxiety :paranoid
