Shesha~ what a bummer for you! Did the Dr. (either one) tell you how common something like this is? Are you one in a million? (maybe you should buy a lotto ticket too!) Hopefully it's not painful now. You'd probably be better off to come here to get fixed. (oh my that came out wrong!) To get the port re-adjusted. Is there something that causes it? Sit ups or something? I'd be happy to leave crunchies and sit ups out for the good of my band! (ha!) You know, I've never felt like I went to a "Lap band essembly line". That other Dr. may want to look at his practice too! Especially with the hoops he wants you to jump through to be "worthy" of paying out the nose for his care! Spot! Don't pass on the fried cheese curds! In fact, eat some for me, too! Everything in moderation and cheese is supposed to do just fine with the band...cheese curds are soooooo good. And if your a carb counter...hey, they are just fine! -

Well, I'm glad to hear (well not glad, but you know what I mean) that I am not the only one with a bit of swelling in the afternoon and evening. And let's face it, we're women and we always overdo it and always have a bit more expected of us, physically and mentally. (taking care of kids, work, house, fixing dinner, etc.!) We all felt pretty darn good afterwards but didn't let it get any better than that. It's good to hear that you're all doing better now though. It's hard to believe that today makes 2 weeks since I had it done. Can't believe it! My husband is so proud of me. And I am able to eat whole foods now too. I haven't tried anything too crazy, but I have tried some soft chicken and softer lunch meat, cheese and unblended soups. Thank goodness, I was going a little nuts! I'm glad too because with the liquid/mushie stages I was doing a few more carbs than I care to. There is only so many products you can do on that list! :omg: It's also good to see you all back on here and I don't have to wonder how you are! I do understand the curling up in bed and leave me alone thing though. Have you all been quite tired also? There have been days that I could sleep all day and still go to bed by 9! And my house truly shows it! I forced myself to get down one and a half of those 42gm pro vials from IDS and the last two days have been much better. At first they made me really sick to my stomach, I even had to do the dreaded phenergan sup. Didn't wanna, but it sure helped. Lap Dancer, Im so proud of you for reaching you goal this month! Good job! Did you come up with your goals yourself, or did someone help you out? I wasn't sure what to do and sort of made up some numbers for the next year and a half on the morning of surgery cuz I needed something to distract me. I had no idea that I would be down 22 lbs this month, so I'm not sure what needs adjusting. Plus, things have stopped moving on the scale, so who knows what is realistic for goals. Have a great day everyone! -

Spot, I'm so sorry that you have to postpone your date. You must be heartbroken. But you'll still get it done, just a little later. And once it's done, it's done. It's crazy all the stuff they need to refi, don't you think? Hang in there, it'll go fast for you. :spider: -

DynamoMini~ I would love to get together to meet everyone. I think that I will try and get to the meeting in May. Did you get an email from Susan about that? How are you feeling? I wake up pretty good, but by the end of the day my "top roll" of my belly is really quite swollen and sore by the time I go to bed. And I'm not whining, because I am thrilled to have this done, but I have had a couple of bad days. Two days ago I really wanted to eat something. I have to fix dinner for everyone and I think it's worse while I am cooking for everyone. I didn't realize how much I taste and nibble while I am cooking. I actually cried. Silly girl. Then yesterday, I don't know why, but my whole gut hurt almost as bad as 2 days after surgery. Maybe I've just overdone it. Who knows. But I had to take pain meds and I haven't needed them for a while. So, there is my whining...all done. Sorry, but thanks for listening. Has anyone else had any "bad" moments? Not regrets, cuz I don't think any of us has that. Where did everyone go? Angie, Lap Dancer, Tater...how is your healing going? I'm thinking of you! Mal...still excited? Hope to hear from ya! :typing: -

Good morning, Spot and Dynamo~ We had some really great piles of snow come through yesterday! Seems like when we get blizzards, my internet goes down. I'm on DSL. Talk about withdrawl! But, after messing with my modem box and rebooting everything, I'm back on! Woo hoo! Spot, Talk to Dr. K's office. My surgery was the 13th, and I paid on the 9th. So I paid 4 days before. They didn't seem to think that it was that big of a deal. And I was like you. I had to take out a home equity line of credit to pay and even though we closed on a certain day, the funds weren't available for 3 more days. My funds were available on a friday and I paid on monday. It was all very close. Just let them know! -

Good morning, everyone. I had my one week appointment yesterday. It was really short. He took the tape off the port site and took a look at the incisions. (by the way, my guts didn't fall out ) Said that I wasn't allergic to the tape, but to the glue they use to stick it down. I've got benedryl and cortaid to try and clear it up. Well, my weight is down 20 lbs now. Not since the banding, but since the pre-op diet and the liquid diet. I haven't lost that much weight since I did the Atkins years ago. I think that I lost around 37 on that. (But it all found me again, plus some!) I suppose things reverse or level off when you can eat food again, huh? I have my appointment for May 11 to get my first fill. It seems things are going pretty quickly. SunnySea, how are you feeling now that it's been a few days? Do you feel like things are where they need to be? Are you still having trouble or do you feel like you need more of a fill? Have a great day everyone...hope everyone is getting along well! -

Great pictures, Lap Dancer! You look like a pillar of strength going into surgery. You don't look nervous at all. At that point I was crying. What a baby huh! It's so cool to actually start to put faces to all the posts! -

Wow..what a ton of great info tonight....I'll know everything before I get there tomorrow! Okay, okay, okay....now with this full liquid thing....her it goes...if something can melt and become liquid...that makes it a liquid..right?? Soooooooooo, does that mean that chocolate is a liquid? NOT that I want to pig out on any left over Easter chocolate or anything...(yes I do) I was just wondering. :decision: HA! -

:omg: OMG, SunnySea! That is the most horrifying story I have heard yet! Thank goodness you are okay. So much for me ever getting a fill. Hope it's tight enough right now forever! And your ordeal with the other doctor, not exactly compationate, is he? Are you feeling better now? What are you supposed to do in that situation? Does Dr. K tell you what you are supposed to do in this situation? So like I wasn't anxious enough with just getting the bugger in there! Thank you for sharing though. I mean, we do need to know that these things can happen. And you are okay, right? Do you have to wait to have a fill now? Or did the other doc only take part of it out? Look at me...100 questions! Sorry about that. Just surprised that it could be so bad. Take care! -

Thanks for the advice, Tater! I have a follow up appointment tomorrow with the Doc, so he can see what he thinks. I tried just a little cortaid cream (cuz that's what I had on hand) and I think they may actually be getting lighter in color. Made sure not to put it on the actual incision. I look like a monkey with fleas! How are you feeling, Tater? Glad your feeling pretty good, Angie. Thanks for all your advice and support, DrewsLou! I hope that I do as well as you have...Can't imagine my 1 year bandiversary. I don't know if it's mentally healthy or not, but my Hubby and I have set up little prizes for me at certain goal weights. It's extra incentive, I guess. (seems to work for my kids! Hee hee!) Hope you feeling okay, Lap Dancer and Dynamo! -

Good morning, Mal. If I remember right, you're a local? I guess we are pretty lucky from what I've heard fills can cost. I think I am finally starting to calm down from everything. Haven't needed any pain med for a while and the swelling in my gut is going down. The only problem I have had is a reaction to the tape they use over the incisions. I have some of the biggest, itchiest welts/hives on my tummy. Doctor told me to remove the tapes, which I did, but they don't seem to be getting any better. I left the tape over the port site cuz it seems so big and I don't want my guts to fall out! Hee hee! I've hit the calm after the storm and I've finally let some of the family know I had it done. (actually, gramma told most everyone! Aren't they cute? Hee hee!) I guess the real work comes after all the healing. I think that I have lost more weight now than I have in quite some time. We'll hafta try and get us all together so we can meet, maybe at the next meeting. We'll pack his little waiting room right up! Hope everyone is feeling well today! -

Yeah, Dynamo!!!!! We've been waiting to hear from ya! So glad everything went well for you! The cotton mouth is hell, isn't it? Do you still have that patch behind your ear? If you do, get rid of it. It really causes cotton mouth. Glad to see you posting and I hope the soreness goes away quickly. Are you still in the "I can't believe I did it" phase? I'm still there. Woo hoo! We're bandsters!!!!! -

Hi Angie! Dr. K. doesn't do any tests at pre-op. His medical residents just go over that you can't eat or drink after midnight, how soon to be at the surgicenter, what to wear, he gives you perscriptions to get filled today so that you have them tomorrow when you are all done. That's about it. He asks you if you have any last questions and is again very reassuring. That's it. Oh, and they take your vitals and record them and make sure that you have been following a good pre-op diet and explain the need of the dulcolax suppository the night before.(not as bad as it may seem) They want you to buy hepicleans to wash your tummy with tonight and tomorrow morning before you go. Kinda dries your skin out, but I guess it kills all the micro organisms and stuff. And...when you get to the surgicenter tomorrow...don't pee before they take you back! They need a urine sample when they take you back and gown you...and I actually had just used the bathroom...so they upped the iv fluids until I could go...oops! But no one told me out front to not go...they even told me where it was up the hall. ha! Oh well. Don't feel guilty about the money anymore...let it go. My hubby and I took a second loan on the house (heloc) to pay for this. And I'm sure that if you keep going over and over it, there are other things that the money could be spent on...but is there anything more important than your health? If anyone even knew the half of my family medical history, there would be no question that this is the best way to spend 10K. I've done this for more than just me, I've done this for my husband and my two boys, (one is 7 the other is 4) who deserve a Mom/wife that's a little more active and not always depressed and ashamed of herself. I've not heard of the replacing one addiction with another though. I guess it's an interesting idea. That to me would be more like an OCD issue than addiction. Let's hope I replace mine with more meaningful things like scrap booking, playing with the kids and going to the park! You'll do great and good luck with everything. Funny how people on this thread can mean so much to you without ever meeting them face to face. Hopefully we can all meet face to face! -

Hey Angie! Good luck! You haven't posted here very much and I was wondering how you were doing. (unlike me who had to post every hour or so to keep the courage up! HA!) Hopefully we'll hear from Lap Dancer and DynamoMini today and hear about their experience and how they are doing. Well, I hope! The surgical Center called me yesterday to see how I was doing. Let them know that I was doing pretty good. Being from Phoenix (here for a year) that surgical center is so nice and attentive compared to what I am used to. I can't imagine what this experience would have been like had I had it done there. Well, I think that I will try some full liquid stuff today. Paula told me 3 or 4 days of clear liquids, so maybe I'll slip in some coffee with milk and go from there. I have some protein shake stuff too. The broth stuff is so salty! I've only had about an hour of nausea (yesterday) and it went away when I layed down for a little bit. Supposed to stay full liquid until the 24th. For some reason, that seems longer on this side of the band! Taterbug! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I felt so bad when I found out what happened, but tomorrow will be the day to gitter done! Good luck to both of you! -

Tater, Tater, Tater!!! I'm so happy for you! It's so great that he could do it that soon! I was worried that you would have to wait as long as the first time. You are so brave and strong! You should pat yourself on the back for your couragousness! Congratulations!:clap2: You are in my thoughts and my prayers! -

Howdy, Mal. I'm doing better every day, thanks! I was able to sort of lay on my side to sleep last night, woo hoo! I can't sleep very well on my back. Don't be too nervous about breaking the rules. This is something you want and I don't know about you, but I was self pay and that amount of money really helps to keep you on track. I even went to Vegas and managed to keep it right (lordy I wanted a cold beer so bad!). I don't know what to tell you about all the family events though. My family has always had everything revolve around food. Good times, celebrations, new babies, holidays, even funerals have tons of food and booze. I guess we'll just have to take it one event at a time and not look at the long term of how many we will have to make it through. That was my Mom's whole objection to this surgery. She doesn't know what else to do with me but feed me. I know that I am 38 now, but I'm really close to my mom and she truly loves me with food. We'll have to learn some card games or start some crafts like scrap booking or something instead of sitting around eating goodies and talking! If you've come this far, you can do it. Just making the decision to do it and realizing that you gotta lose some weight for your health is the big step. People are stronger than they think and the people here also help bunches! So don't worry! -

Lap Dancer, DynamoMini!!!!! Today is a new day!!!!!! (chicken little) I know that you won't see this until after you're all done, but I'm thinking of you guys and sending all the good vibes to you that I can possibly make! I'll pray for an easy recovery hour with no nausea and for your strenght before hand and good effect from the pain killers afterwards. Go Get'em girls!!!! :clap2: Tater, let us know what they say for your reschedule and I hope that you are feeling better! -

okay, I'm two days past banding....and I'm still sore. But getting better. Here's a situation I've run into. I never realized, on a regular basis, how much nibbling and tasting I do while I am fixing my boys their dinner. This is going to take some real concentration on my part for the next three liquid weeks. I thought that I would feel bad enough the first few weeks to not even think of eating solid food...wrong. (I'm a true fatty through and through! HA!:biggrin1: ) Also this tape over my incisions is really really itchy. Anyone else get itchy? Lap Dancer and DynamoMini...tomorrow is the day! I'm so excited for you! Hope that you don't get as silly as I did right before. They are really considerate and caring people. Then Mal, Spot, and Tater...woo hoo! We'll have to go to a support group to meet each other and Drewslou, Sunnysea and anyone else I may have forgotten that lives in the area. (pain meds can make you denser than normal!) I still can't believe I actually did it. And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have without everyone on this thread! THANKS AGAIN!!:cheer2: -

Thanks, sunnysea... I think that I did it. I always managed to get it made, just not over onto my signature. Tater~If you heard someone crying (other than yourself) that was probably me! I got quite panicky right at the end there until they put the sedative in the IV. (the nurses called it liquid courage, ha ha) I wanted my Mom too, even though I knew she was at home with my boys. I think that I saw your family though...I think. Was going to say hi to them, but they took me back so fast (outta the waiting room). I'm glad your feeling better... -

I had it done in Parker. What a really nice facility! It's failrly new and they have a player baby grand playing as you go in the doors. Very caring, helpful, and sincere people. I only have hopitals from Phoenix to compare to, but compared to them this place was like a resort. sunnysea~ I set up my weight ticker thingy, but I don't know what to do to have it show up with my post/signature.
