    Post op and sweets

Has anybody tried sweets? I'm aware of the "sugar dump" and I'm pretty afraid of getting it
  2. I got my sleeve March 14th and I just started eating what my nutritionist calls "soft foods" (anything that can be mashed with a fork, I guess?) and after being on all liquids for so long, I've been giving myself a hard time about eating; like if I eat "normal" food again, I'll be right back where I was. I know that's not realistic but I still can't shake that "post-eating regret" Anyone else having dealt with this?

    Post op and sweets

Thanks you guys! Yeah I would definitley consider dumping a blessing in disguise. I can handle premier protein and Splenda well, I just want to know if I can have a little bite of cake sooner or later

    Beating yourself up after eating

I was sleeved on 4/14/13 and I've lost 50 lbs post op but 120 lbs all together (with the pre-surgical liquid diet and such) and I'm tolerating foods just fine... but I just feel like even eating a small bite of whole grain pasta makes me regretful. I am way WAY too hard on myself

  8. I didn't know that diet and exercise didn't work for everyone but I feel so much better now that I've found this site. I am still pre-surgery but am so excited to change my life for the better. A little background for those interested: 17 years old and have been overweight my entire life. The most I've weighed is 320 lbs but currently weigh 282 lbs. I am a highschool senior on the varsity waterpolo team. I've played polo for 5+ years and it's my life. In spite of playing one of the world most vigerous sports and eating healthy, weight loss has ALWAYS proved difficult. Name a diet fad & I can bet that I've done it. Surgery is a last resort for me and I've never been more inspired, dedicated, hopeful, focused and driven until I knew what this could possibly do for me.

This Entire Time I Thought I Was Alone

I'm glad my age is accepted and I'm supported in my decision here, because in "the real world" I'm reprimanded for my decision to "cheat" at such a "young age" My point of view is, if I know something isn't working, why should I keep doing it? Afterall, insanity is doing the same thing over & over and expecting different results. (Oh, Einstein <3) So thank you for your support and advice

This Entire Time I Thought I Was Alone

Oh, thank you! Yes, I believe all options were presented to me and I've decided that the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy is best for me since there is no bypass of the small intestines and that there is very little chance of absorption issues (my mom had the Gastric Bypass surgery and she had a lot of issues with nutrient absorption and needed regular iron transfusions) I'm doing MASSIVE amounts of research (at 2 am like a madwoman) and I'm working with Stanford university so they're giving me loads of tools and are very helpful.

I didn't know that, but that makes me feel a hell of a lot better about my workout/diet regimens!
