I'm 13 months post band. Overall doing very well. I had a small fill about a month ago and I have had a few vomiting episodes - most likely my own fault for eating too fast or too much. Tonight I went out for steak dinner - ate about 4 oz and tried to chew very well. I had a piece stuck which I eventually vomited. That was about an hour ago, but I'm still throwing up the clear stuff. Dinner was 3 hours ago. Anything I can do? Did my band slip?

Thanks guys, I'm in the clear! I'm staying away from steak!

I'm 13 months post lapband and everything has been going well. I've lost 68 lbs. Today I had surgery to remove a cyst under general anestesia (sp). I has a small piece of lasagna for lunch and threw up the liquid I sometimes do if I eat too fast. I scrambled 2 eggs for dinner and did the same thing, then threw up the eggs. I have not actually vomited food since having the band My discharge papers say to call surgeon if I vomit, but I'm not sure if this is just a band thing. . Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks Karen. I'm feeling a little better today. I managed to get some yogurt down. I'm going to stick with liquids and mushy food today.

Thanks Judy. I did have general (it was a big cyst). I have had sliming before, but not recently. I didn't have real pain, it just felt like it does when you do the slime thing...but I've never actually thrown up actual food before. I'll try ice. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm 8 days post surgery and feeling really great. Pain is mostly gone except for the occasional shoulder pain. First post-op appointment is tomorrow. My incisions were glued and healing. They itch like crazy! I would like to put lotion on them but not sure if that's ok. I am drinking 3 5 oz protein shakes a day, obviously that's not enough protein but I'm afraid to drink more. I think I could get at least a cup down at a time but is that too much? I'm on full liquids and kind of struggling with when to eat what? Am I making this more difficult than it needs to be? -
I wondered about the cheese sauce. I will be ordering some. Thanks

I ordered the sample pack from Unjury (unjury.com) It came with a chicken broth flavored protein, not too bad and a change from the shakes. They also include chocolate, unflavored and strawberry. I bought Muscle Milk Light, Adkins and EAS. They all taste about the same. I can't wait until next week to add some yogurt and milk as another way to get protein in. I'm not hitting anything close to 60. -

My dr does first fill at 5 weeks. I think each one is different. I am also a side sleeper, getting into position is tough but once I'm there, it's all good. I hold a pillow on my stomach when I turn over. Walking is helping the gas. Hang in there, we'll get through it together! -

I was banded on Monday. I also had a hernia repair. My pain has mostly been from gas and at the incision on my upper right side. It is getting better each day. I'm somewhat nervous about eating but so far so good. I continually drink water, have 1/4 - 1/2 c of protein shake a few timers a day then sf jello and popcicles. The walking definitely helps the gas pain. -
Anyone In St. Louis Approaching Surgery Date?
KaranK replied to suzeeq67's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery was yesterday and it went well. The doc repaired a hiatal hernia while he was there. I think that is accounting for some of my pain. I was released from the hospital around 11 this morning and was able to vote! So far clear liquids are going well, no nausea, but lots of gas. I plan on taking it very easy until my check up next Wednesday. I will get my walking in, but not much else. I'm terrified that I'm going to eat (drink) too much so I'm being very careful. I'm on my way! Thanks for your support! Karan -

Anyone In St. Louis Approaching Surgery Date?

HI fellow St Louisans! I have surgery on Monday. Nervous and excited. My doc only requires 3 days of liquid diet, I started one day early, so Thursday. I've lost about 7 lbs. It's tough but worth it. I am drinking mostly Muscle Milk Light. It's pretty good, so far no poops! My surgery is at Des Peres Hospital, Dr Follwell. He will only be there until the end of this year, so I'll have to go to someone else for my fills. I think there is a Dr Scott in his office, does anyone know? Des Peres has support groups on the 2nd and 4th Thursday. I plan on checking it out. -
My surgery is Monday, Nov 5th. I'm very excited. This has been a long process for me, I've had lots of issues with insurance. I have told a few family members including my adult children and mother. I've also told a few of my closest friends. They are all very supportive. I haven't said a word to anyone at work. I just told my boss I was having surgery...he assumed something "female" and didn't ask.
