Less Than 48Hrs Till Sleeve
hbritt replied to Ladybug78's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My sleeve was done last month. The surgery was not too bad. There will be some discomfort but you will have pain meds to combat it. You can also given IV meds for nausea if you experience it. You will be feeling better in just a few days. I actually went back to work exactly one week after my surgery. I wish you the best of luck! Don't worry...you'll do fine and, trust me, you will loose weight! -
Just Got Surgery Date Of July 25Th!
hbritt replied to Jlewis229's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was yesterday. I'm back home and doing well. Taking it slow on the liquids until my stomach can adjust. I was only able to have ice chips yesterday and started back with clear liquids today/60cc per hour. I should be able to go back to full liquids tomorrow and continue for two more weeks. The surgery wasn't bad at all. I had a brief bout of nausea yesterday but it was short lived after I was given Zophran. Don't plan on resting after your surgery. Between the vital signs, respiratory therapy treatments, nurse visits (i.e. check on IV, dressings, etc.) and lets don't forget the lab...it seemed like someone was in my room constantly. But the care I received was AWESOME! Good luck to each of you. I hope your experience is as good as mine was. -
Just Got Surgery Date Of July 25Th!

Dr. V is doing my sleeve this coming Monday, July 9. I'm on day 12 of the liquid diet and it's going pretty good. You'll do fine. Just don't give up. You have so much to look forward to. I wish you the best of luck! -
I received a lap band in 2009 (had complications with it and had to have it removed in 2010) and now getting a sleeve on the same date, July 9. I can tell you from experience, the pain is minimal. If you do experience discomfort, you will be given pain meds to minimize it. Gas pain is probably the biggest cause of discomfort from this type of procedure, although not as common as in years past. If you experience this type of discomfort (pain in your chest, shoulders, back, etc), walk as much as possible. This helps to disperse the gas. I can tell you that this surgery is a very safe, not only as a patient, but as a medical professional. I am a Surgical Technologist and can attest that this procedure is extremely common and safe. There a many abdominal procedures that use a laparoscopic approach and patients tolerate it well. Your experience will most likely be a good one. When you return home, you will have a new life to ahead of you. This is my third trip to the operating room (as a bariatric patient) and it's well worth it! I am so grateful to have this second chance. Good luck to you all and God Bless!

Just Got Surgery Date Of July 25Th!
hbritt replied to Jlewis229's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is a week from tomorrow, July 9th. I too am excited. I'm on day 7 of my liquid diet and it's going well. Each day gets better. I've stuck to it...haven't cheated. I also had to complete all pre-op testing prior to a surgery date. My surgery is a revision. I had a lap band in 2009 and lost over 80lbs until I had a complication and had to have it removed. I thought it could be replaced but that wasn't the case. After a year, I gained most of the weight back. My surgeon suggested the sleeve and feels I will have better success. I think I could have lost a lot more weight from the band if I didn't have complications but I'm so grateful that I have a second chance. Good luck to everyone here! God Bless you all! We're all in this together! -
I'm right there with you...same surgery date. I'm on day 6 of liquids and feeling better. Nothing is going to stop me now.
