Best and worst "compliments"
CBT replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've been called scrawny. Asked if I'm healthy (implying I'm sick). Told I look like I'm wasting away. Just people being insensitive. I really don't allow myself to focus on it. No stinkin thinkin. They have their demons. Unhappy, I suppose. I also hear: "OMG you look so hot! You rock those pants! Hey, skinny. You look sooooo good. I bet you feel great!" I know what I'm listening to! -
Best and worst "compliments"
CBT replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I saw my BFFs DH today. I haven't seen him in a year. After saying hello he started digging in his pockets. All of them: pants, shirt, jacket. I asked him what he was looking for? He said, "five bucks so you can get a cheeseburger or something!" It was really funny. I know it's a compliment coming from him. It was all the theatrics. So funny. -
Busy stomach all the time! Is this normal ?
CBT replied to Sleevenit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It gets better and eventually goes away. We used to joke around my house about it. It'd get so loud my kids would do the "there was an old lady who swallowed a (fill in the blank)." -
Okay: tucked in shirts and belted blue jeans )

There is so much variation! It's amazing to me. You sound similar to my mom. She was 98 pounds most of my childhood. She's about 110 now. She's wispy and thin. I'm more athletic build and I don't want to be wispy. What a journey!!!

I do see an endocrinologist about every 4 months. He's part of the surgical practice. He calculates my BMR, etc. He told me I'd have to eat above 1800 calories a day to stop my weight loss. I have a lot of muscle. I don't want to lose any muscle. That's important to me. The endo can always guess how many calories I've been eating by how much weight I've lost since I last saw him and the BMR. I'm surprised every time. (I have a rough idea from MFP) I guess I will make an appointment to see what he thinks, too. I like to read the range of responses. Thank you for sharing.

Anyone tracking JUST protein? How?

Also I should like to say that I did not read through the thread. I only answered the OP so as not to appear to be challenging anyone with my opinionated self -
Anyone tracking JUST protein? How?
CBT replied to mistysj's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I track my food and exercise in MFP. I track everything but only look at whether I hit my protein goal. I do not believe (not does science) that all calories are processed in the body equally. So the calorie in and calorie out of MFP is bunk as far as I'm concerned. I like have a general idea of calories but I do not think eating a snickers and then running it off is healthy tracking. KWIM? I'm not suggesting anyone here is doing that, I just think that MFP can be misleading this way. I also get lazy about building recipes so I sometimes cheat :-0 and log something close. Like split pea soup from a restaurant versus the one I made. The point is, I do this sometimes. Otherwise i'd be overall misleading my self. Blah blah blah. I pay attention to protein. -
New Goals for the New Year?! :) Before and after pics.

I too want to refocus tracking. I have been trailing off at the end of the day. That's the part of the day with the most "risk" for head hunger behavior. I have not succumbed to it; still, take one thing away and it becomes a slippery slope. I also would like to have plastic surgery this year. -
Being able to swap clothes, shows and boots with my friends and taking their hand-me-downs so I don't have to buy clothes until I recover from PS Hands down THE BEST NSV is while hugging me, my son says :awe mom, I can put my arms all the way around you!"

Congratulations, Butter, et al. I've read all the way through. I have a consult scheduled for 1/10. I wonder if any of you who've had TT noticed a benefit to lateral or medial thighs? Also, how much did TT help lift pubis area? How you all describe post op positioning and pain/discomfort reminds me a lot of my post op ventral hernia repair. I think I may not be a TT candidate because I have mesh in my lower abdomen. I'll know after 1/10.

Is there a setting so my searches, in general, only show posts from VSG members? I really don't want to sort through so many other post that totally don't apply/help/inform. Thanks!

I love Emma Patterson. She saved my life. I've had VSG then three months later, a hernia repair that could not be done during the sleeve. I did not care for one of her PAs but that person is gone now. I have great experiences with all of her other staff. I also get along well with Dr Raum.

My hips get sore when my I.T. Bands get tight. They're hard to stretch. So, I foam roll. No lie, it'll make you sweat bullets until the fibers break up and it's totally worth it. You Tube search foam rolling good luck!

Pumpkinhead321 I track daily! Add me!!! -
I guess I also want to say, "because tracking my food does work for me". Lol. Also, I don't weight my food. I too used to weight and measure everything in every diet i tried since age 10 and I am pretty dang accurate. So glad that's behind me.

The research on WLS patients 5 plus years out with 10 pounds or less regain do three things: track their food, exercise and belong to a community/support group. I'm 10 months post op and 16 months working with my medical team and tracking. I think I would honestly consider why I want to stop tracking and evaluate my answer for long term success before I stopped. If I was bored of tracking that wouldn't be a good enough reason for me to risk regain, for example.

What are you doing for exercise?

A couple thing are coming up for me. One is that it sounds like you are overtraining. You've been managing a lot of inflammation for about a month. I get it. I go through periods of overtraining. Usually I'm chasing endorphin and adrenaline and feel like I can fly until I'm sore everywhere. Second thing. Cardio and resistance training schedules are so personal. Some of it is how you and feel some is science. I really encourage you to listen to your body. I dance for cardio an hour three days a week. Some weeks way more if there are jams (dance equivalent to marathons). Think 11 kinds of movement blended with martial arts all in an hour. It's crazy fun. The best part is each routine has three levels. If I'm injured I will dance level 1. I mostly dance level 3. This can be an issue for retaining lean muscle mass. It's a lot of burn. Still I build a lot of core muscle and leg muscle. I do not go more than 24 hours between resistance training sessions. Forty eight at the most if I need to recover. I work out in a very nice club that promotes all the trends in fitness. What I know is that the PT have clients on a mix of straight up resistance training and Crossfit. I do cross fit once or twice a week at the most. Because I crazy dance and that is my love. If I did Crossfit two-three days a week at 45-50 minutes, I'd be overtraining and I'd have to drop one of my dance classes. I think you love crossfit and you could consider changing your running schedule. Crossfit is so explosive I mix it up and I have great results. I'm not tired or hitting the wall. It's finding that training sweet spot for your body. This is what works for me. No" shoulds" and all I "want to". Life is good. Sleeved life is awesome. Good luck!
