One Week Post Op....feeling Overwhelmed!
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You can do this, I know you can! It is soooo worth it. Trust me 6 months from now when people start noticing how good you look you will smile knowing it was worth every minute you struggled, questioned, and endured your new lifestyle. I believe in you. -
That's got to be the best feeling! You go girl!!

Just When You Think You've Got The Band All Figured Out......

Good luck to both of you.

My full sign is I can feel the food moving through my band slower. If I continue to eat....it WILL get stuck. Sometimes my band starts gurgling....very disturbing at a dinner table. My daughter will say, I think your band has had enough. Lol.

Do Lap Banders, really need BREAKFAST?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Helen Bauzon's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I agree with everyone. I have to wait till 2 hours after I'm up, that is when I get hungry. If I'm not hungry I don't eat. By evening I get all my calories in, that's for sure! -
Just When You Think You've Got The Band All Figured Out......

The syringes have marks for tenths of a cc. You would think that small amount wouldn't make a difference, but it does. I was amazed. -
If length of time is not a problem, I would take a week to 10 days. Give yourself time to heal but also time to learn how to manage your new eating habits. Are you on liquid? Does anyone at your work know? If they don't and you're on liquids then you could get questioned. I took 1 week off and to be honest if I could I would have taken 2 weeks. Not to heal but to get through the liquid stage. I found it difficult working, liquid diet, and nosey coworkers.

Just When You Think You've Got The Band All Figured Out......

I am female and going thru menopause so who knows there.... lol -
Memphisfan, What about drinking a Protein shake in the class room? That would hold you over till lunch. The hardest think for me to learn was (is) small bites especially if I'm really hunger. My doctor says a bite should be the size of a dime. In order to make my bites small I always eat with a knife and fork, even sandwiches and `finger foods`. It helps me.

I was trying to figure out the nutritional information for okra, so I Googled it and found this really cool website. Calorielab.com. This site gives you ALL the nutritional information on a ton of foods. Check it out.

Congratulations on your success so far. I was also banded in February and have lost over 50 lbs. I have had several fills, not sure how many total. Don't worry about the fills, they are easy. The hard part is the day to day lifestyle change, but it sounds like you are doing well with that. I also use myfitnesspal, its a great tool and has kept me honest! I just sent you a friends request (ajtexas0).

Help! Don't Know Whether To Tell Coworkers..
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Wisdom2KnowTheDifference's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you are ready to tell them you will. When I first got my band I didn't tell anyone other than my husband and parents. I had no intention of telling anyone either. But when people started noticing the weight loss, my approach changed. If I was asked how I was loosing the weight I sometimes told, but it was based on a gut feeling. I had no rhyme or reason behind it. Now most people know and yes some think its the easy way out, etc... but I don't care about their opinions. This is the best think I have ever done for myself. I will say that most have asked a lot of questions, like what do you eat, how much, do you have to exercise, etc. I think the biggest problem is the lack of knowledge about the band and how it works. I can't tell you how much time I have spent explaining the band to people. But I don't mind, I will continue to help educate as much as I can. Bottom line is do what is best for you when you are ready. Good luck. -

I agree with Sam. I have wine every evening, now I do factor the calories into my diet - they are liquid calories and that can hurt you. But for me I include them in my food plan. I have lost 57 pounds having my wine at night.....

Kjoy & Webb designer - Don't give up!! This lifelong journey we are on will have ups & downs, if we stick together we can make it! I am currently on an up. Had a doctors appointment today, lost 4.6 lbs in 2 weeks. Feeling really good about myself right now. However 3 weeks ago I was miserable. I wasn't loosing weight & I was frustrated as hell. I didn't give up, I spent more time on this site looking for support, i took the recommendations given by my co-banders and kept trying. Finally I got results. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is you are on your way. You are here, looking for support and you didn't quit. I know you will see results. This is for life! We will make it!!!! This I know. You are doing well, keep it up! **hugs**

Changes After Losing 50 Pounds?!
♕ajtexas♕ replied to guitar4life3000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My biggest changes: 1. No longer have high blood pressure. 2. Went from 2x to 16 in clothes. 3. Always cold in the office, instead of sweating! 4. My boobs stick out further than my stomach. Lol
