Something Great Happened!
♕ajtexas♕ replied to JIFuentes927's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations! Hearing things like that is music to your ears. Keep up the good work. -
I am new to this. I was banded in Feb 2012, lost 46 lbs. Feel like I'm loosing focus.... 4 pounds away from weighing under 200. For some reason this milestone scares me. I haven't been this weigh since high school (46 years old). I have a fully supportive husband and family and until now I've been doing this without using the support groups. I think it's time to reach out for support. I don't want to go backwards and I keep finding myself making bad food choices, eating too much, etc. I haven't gained but I haven lost in the last month either. Is this a plateau or am I sabotaging myself????? I really need a buddy or 2 to help with this journey.

Glad you are feeling better.

I love how you sugar coated it to ease the pain..... lol (luv ya, tmf) Good luck with your journey. We are her to offer you support when you need it. The pre op diet is about preparing your liver for surgery and the post op diet is about your stomach healing. Try not to worry about weight loss during this time. Make sure you have a good supply of sugar free Popsicles they saved me during the liquid stage. Take care and keep us posted.

Congratulations on your weight loss, that is great. I agree it is not easy. This is a lifestyle change and the band is one of the tools we use. It doesn't help with the food choices we make, that's all on us. It doesn't help the head hunger or the emotional eating, or the boredom eating that is all on us too!

♕ajtexas♕ replied to MsAngie224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 6 weeks post op are for your body to heal and not about weight loss. It's not uncommon to gain during this time. -

Boyfriend Totally Against Me Getting Lap Band
♕ajtexas♕ replied to a1990's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
a1990, When I decided to get the band my parents where very much against it. After talking with them trying to convince them that I needed and wanted this I realized that the biggest problem was they didn't know anything about the band. My doctor had given me Dr. O'Brien's book about the lap-band so I asked my parents to read it and they did. Well I think my dad read the book and told my mom about it. He then when on the internet researching the procedure for himself. Once they had an understanding everything changed and they where behind me 100%. What I am trying to say is most people are against things they know little about, its safer that way. I would recommend trying to give your boyfriend as much information about the band as you can. If you have any books on it ask him to read them (not the whole book cover to cover, but pick out important chapters). I got Dr. O'Brien's book through my doctor (True Results) its good but a better choice is Jean McMillan's book Bandwagon. It is awesome. Every lap-band patient should have a copy. It would help both you and your boyfriend. You can order the book through the link at the bottom of this site, Jean is often on here too. Anyway, don't mean to ramble on but education is bliss and just might resolve things for you and your boyfriend. Either way do this for you. We will support you all the way. -
Give your husband a kiss for me. Compliments like that is what keeps us going!

You can't change it from the remote apps, you have to go to the full websit and update it there.

Welcome Georgia! We can definately be buddies, send me a PM any time. Tell us your story (your profile is blank). Take care!

sguyan, Where do you live? Your profile doesn't say. I'd love to be buddies! Feel free to send me a PM anytime. Do you track your food? I use myfitnesspal (user: ajtexas0) add me as a friend if you do. It really helps keep you honest. Track everything even if you have a bad day, you can then look back and may see a pattern. I know I have found patterns, that time of the month is killer, stress can do numbers too and for me bordom during the evenings reall gets me. I'm a big evening eater! Also look at your food choices. I do Low Carbs and try to eat 60-70g of Protein a day. They say protein first, the veggies, the carbs. Plus keep to 1 cup of food total per meal. "Just because you can eat more doesn't mean you should", I'm sure you have heard that on this site a few times. Well it's true! Do you exercise? This is a hurdle for me. I hate the though of going to the gym, etc... I have a desk job so I have very little movement during the day. I am trying something this week, I set up remionders on my work computer at 10am & 2pm that say "Go for a walk". So far I have gotten up from my desk and gone fore a 15 minute walk (course it's only Tuesday, but it's a start). Keep coming back to this site. The support you get here is great, it will keep you motivated! Good luck!

Emotional Eating And Overeating: Five Triggers To Avoid
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Melissa McCreery's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Great advise. I'm going to try these. I'm a big evening eater, boredom eating. My goal for the rest of the month is to change my evening habits. -
I eat between 1000-1200 calories a day. I do low carbs and about 60g of protein. About once a week I have a treat day where I eat about 1500 calories. I am loosing about 1-2 lbs a week right now (that can change at any point). My thought is mix it up. If you do the same every day your body gets use to it. I want to keep my body guessing. Lol

What Is Your One Main Motivation?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My health and how I felt about myself was my initial motivators. Now, what keeps me going is I like myself again! And I keep catching my husband starring at me. When I ask what he is looking at, he replies "my sexy wife" That feels sooo good! -
Went To Seminar, Confused And Have Some Questions
♕ajtexas♕ replied to knknosmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Carolinagirl. I was banded in Feb, lost 60 lbs so far. My goal is 100lbs. As for steak, I eat it. It depends on the grade of steak, higher quality is easier to chew but since you eat alot less it costs about the same....plus I'm worth it. Just have to chew chew chew the SMALL bits. Don't drink soda anymore, didn't like the gas issues. I don't miss it. The band is a tool and you do have to make lifestyle changes. It is worth everyone of them for me! -
I have fruit at least once a day. Mostly berries, but i do enjoy a banana about once a week.

I took 1 week off and am very thankful for that. If I could I would have taken 2. You might want to see if you can take more time. -
