Why Do People Think Lap Band Is The "easy" Way!?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Before my band I would drink Starbucks caramel frappuccino coffee drinks. I loved them! Well tonight I made a Protein shake that I think matches them.... 3/4 cup cold coffee 1/4 cup 1% milk 1 scoop vanilla unjury Protein powder 2 tablespoons Torani Caramel coffee syrup sugar free Hand full of ice 127 calories, 1g fat, 7.2g carbs, 22g protein. They are sooo yummy!!!!!!! Just had to share.

When it comes to shakes everyone has different tastes, so my advise is start trying different ones and see which you like. I have both powder and pre made shakes in my pantry. I like the unjury powder shakes. You get them online at www.unjury.com, they have a sample pack of all their flavors. As for pre made I drink Atkins Advantage or EAS low carbs. Now is the best time to try different ones and figure out which you like and which hubby likes (might be different). As for other items for the liquid diet. Stock up on sugar free popsicles and your favorite Soups. Some people made their own broths before hand and froze them others likes the Chinese restaurant soups, they would strain the soups so it was just the broth. I like V8 so I had that. Good luck to both of you, keep us posted on your journey.

My husband complains that I burp and fart way more than I ever did before my band...guess I'm not a princess.

Hate to tell you this but, yes it is normal. Welcome to bandster hell! Now is the time that you really have to work on the diet you may not feel restriction for a few fills. It took me 7 fills. Just keep your eye on the end goal and you will get through this. Good luck.

I love it. Made me look at my drivers license...... new goal to get to the weight on my license!

Don't rush the working out. Walk as much as you can, but my doctor said no exercise for 4 weeks and no ab stuff for 6 weeks. But as with food all doctors a red different bla bla bla......

The hardest part of all this is understanding the signals or lack of signals..... at this point you won't feel hungry. It took me a while to figure out the new signals. Sounds like you are doing it right, your just not getting the response from your body that you are use to.....completely normal. As each day goes by your body will heal and you will learn the new signals. Keep doing what you are doing.

Maybe we should request that Alex correct yours....

The reason you do not feel hungry or thirsty is because your stomach is still swollen from the surgery. I somedays I have a hard time with Tuna and I have been banded for 7 months (band being tight somedays). My advice is 1 call your doctor and tell him your concerns and 2 eat only 1 cup per meal, slowly, and drink slowly. The eating habit is a learning process. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Take care & good luck.

I completely understand. I had an unfill a couple of weeks ago because I was on steroids for a back injury and it made my band too tight. Now tbe drugs are out of my system and i an always hungry. I can eat anything, bit after bit without any restriction. I was in the green zone and they only took .2cc out. Wow, what a difference. Can't wait till my fill on Tuesday.

Boyfriend Totally Against Me Getting Lap Band
♕ajtexas♕ replied to a1990's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations. I am so happy to hear that your boyfriend is supportive now. Good luck on your journey. -
I think acknowledging the problem is half the battle and you have done that. I understand fighting the sabotaging yourself, I do it anytime I get close to a goal. Why? I don't know. Fear of success? failure? or just wanting to make things hard on myself cause that is all I've know? What I do know is if I keep at it and meet that goal, the pride I feel is overwelming. It gives me the courage to keep trying. Those little voices in our head can really mess with us! But we CAN BEAT THEM! just do it one day at a time, or one hour, or one minute, whatever it takes to get through it, Remeber the serenity prayer it helps me get through a lot of tough times. I also had an alcoholic husband and spent a few years in al-anon. It's funny how us "co-dependence" seem to beat ourselves up more than anyone else. Take care.
