    Getting Sick And Having Lapband

I also keep anti nausea meds on hand. As for colds/stuffy nose, the sinus drainage will make your band tighter. I have allergies and when they act up my band gets very tight. I have to do liquids for a few days. If it continues over a week I get a small unfill. This is one if the reasons it is so important to keep the relationship going with your doctor. We all chose the band because it was adjustable. So we have to commit to doing just that. Going to our doctor and managing our band. Sorry for the rant, I'm off my soap box now. CG (aka PP), don't worry, just listen to your body. You will know what to do and when.

    I Need Help!!!

Floridays is right. Please call your doctor. They need to make sure the band is working correctly, if you have been vomiting for years your band might have slipped. Just concerned for you. Take care.

    How Fast Is The Weightloss?

As previously stated each person is different. My doctor told me the average loss is 1-2 lbs a week. You don't want to loose too fast, well maybe we do want that. What I mean is loosing too fast can be unhealthy, etc. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

    Headache Help!

Don't know if you have CVS Pharmacies where you are at, but they have an adult liquid Tylenol, it's there own brand. That is what I take.
  9. Missy, Glad to here you are back on track. I think we all loose focus on portion sizes sometimes, I know I do. I just got a fill and an eye opening yesterday. I gained 3 lbs in a 2 week period. I had been eye balling my portions.... My eyes aren't that good at portion control. So today I got the scales and measuring cups back out. And last night I re-read my doctors diet instructions to refresh myself. I have been doing this 7 months now and I needed a refresher. So, regroup. Onwards & upwards my friend. Take care.
  10. Finally got a fill today, back to where I was before hurting the back. Onwards & Upwards!

    I Figured It Out... It's Elastic's Fault!!

Floridays you got me to look in my closet. I also had elastic everything and now my 14s all have zippers & buttons. Elastic has lost me too. Love it! Congrats to you & thanks for shedding the light for me.

    I Cant Start Working Out!!

Go for a walk around your neighborhood. Do an exercise video at home, if you don't have one there are hundreds on YouTube. I don't like going to a gym so I exercise at home. Pick one thing and do it each day, even if its only for 10 minutes, then after a week add something ( more time or a different element) and keep adding each week. That seemed to work for me.

    Would You Do It Again?

Veteran? Don't know if I qualify, but yes I would do it again, hands down! The band has given me my life back. And I still have 25 lbs to go.

    Undecided?!?!

I suggest you research all your options. I chose the lapband because it was less ivasive and it was adjustable. It had worked well for me, 7months post op and I'm down 65 lbs. With all wls there is a lifestyle change, if you are willing to change you will succeed. Good luck to you.

Eating If You Don't Feel Hungry?

I'm with Maddy. If I'm not hungry I don't eat. I say listen to your body. If you don't get in all the protein & calories today it won't kill you. Just don't make a habit of it.

    Newbie On This Journey

I go to True Results here in Austin, TX they are great! I was banded in Feb of this year and have lost 65 lbs so far. Everyone has given great advise so I won't repeat. My additional advise is to get Jean McMillan's book Bandwagon and start readings (there is an ad you can click on at the bottom of this page). This book is my bible i reread it all the time. Good luck on your journey. One note about True Results, you will meet your surgeon once before the surgery and see him day of surgery. But chances are you won't see him again after that. All your fills are done by the nurse practitioners. If that is a concern for you, you might consider a different doctor. Personally I love the NPs at my office, they are very knowledgeable about the band and diet requirements.
