It depends on your doctors orders. Every doctor has different post op diets and it is important to follow your doctors orders. Call your doctor if you are unsure. Take care.

Try mixing things up. Eat more or less than you have been ( don't know what your calorie intake is). Do you exercise? If so change what you are doing. I know it sucks when the scale doesn't move, but what about inches? Take your measurements, bet they have changed. Don't give up! This too shall pass!

Two Weeks Post-Op And I Am Craving Regular Foods :(

You are still healing slipping on your doctors order could damage your band and I know you don't want that. So, get back on the post op diet your doctor gave you, drink more water and if you are still struggling call your doctor. This is the hardest time, but you can do this! You are strong, just keep thinking of the end results. I believe in you! -
Holy Stuck Episodes !!!
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Domika03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor requires 24 hours liquid then 24 hours mushies foods after a fill. It sounds like you went to foods too soon. I suggest going back to liquids for 24 hours, then mushies and see. Also you will need to relearn how to eat with this fill. I have to re educated myself every time I have a fill. Good luck. -

Yes your band can slip, yes you could have problems with your port, but there are complications with every surgery. I think your doctor was letting you know that it isn't 100% guarantee that it will be perfect, but what is perfect? You need to decide if the cons (complications mention) are worth it to you. They where for me..... I was banded Feb 2012, I've lost 63 lbs, with 27 to go. I'm off all my HBP meds, down 4 clothing sizes and I feel like a million bucks. I just wish I'd of done this sooner. Good luck to you.

How Long Until You Saw A Difference?

For me it was when I bought new clothes that fit. Like Honk said when the clothes fit (not baggy like we use to wear) you notice. -

I would do it again in a heartbeat. The band saved my life. I was 250 lbs, pre-diabetic, on 3 different medications for high blood pressure and would be out of breath just walking from my front poarch to my car. Today, I've lost 63 lbs, no longer pre-diabetic, no longer on ANY prescription medication (BP is normal) and I can walk anywhere for as long as I want. I don't remember any major discomfort after the surgery. But then again, I've had quite a few surgeries over the years.

February Bandsters?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to mrsmyers2010's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! That is fantastic!! -
Crissylu nailed my band on the head. Mornings & stress cause my band to be tight. Also if my allergies are really bad then my band will get tight. One bandster said the band was like a toddler, you never know what's going to happen from day to day. That's my band, the toddlers. Lol I know several bandsters do not approve of drinking alcohol with the band, but if I have a really tight band I'll have a glass of red wine before dinner, it relaxes my band so I can enjoy my meal. It works for me.

Welcome wrapgirl! I was banded in February 2012. Before my lap band I took 3 different medications for my high blood pressure and was pre-diabetic. Now, I've lost 62 pounds, I'm 28 pounds away from my goal weight. I'm no longer pre-diabetic and the biggest victory is I no longer have high blood pressure, No more daily medication. The lap band saved my life. Now that being said, the band is JUST A TOOL. You have to change your lifestyle completely. I eat 3 meals & 1 snack a day, my meals are 1 cup in size with 3-4ozs of Protein, and 1/4 cup of veggies and maybe some carbs. I also exercise daily, I walk the stairs at work (30 flights a day), ride my exercise bike for 30 minutes each evening and spend the weekend outside gardening, walking and playing. If you are willing to follow the band lifestyle then it works wonders. But, you need to find what works best for you. Do your research. Learn the good and the bad about all your options. Go to a seminar, talk with your doctor, and read everything you can find on the subject. My husband supports me completely, he is my biggest cheerleader. I think the biggest help for him was learning too. Be sure to take your husband to seminars, talk with your doctor, etc. Make sure he is educated too. Good luck to you.
