In my opinion (this is not based on research or stats), if a band is too tight it slips and if that slip goes undetected then the band erodes into the stomach.... again my opinion. The stat on this occuring are low (don't know the numbers exactly). There is a forum for Lap Band Complications and you will find stories about this and slipped bands. Again, my opinion. Every surgery has the chance of complications and yes we have a foreign object in our body so there is the posibility for complications. I felt that the risk of such complications was worth getting my health and life back. Does that answer your question?
