Discomfort from stuck episode
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Wgbem's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea, you will. I still eat too fast & get myself in trouble.....& every time I say "won't do that again". lol -
I see a lot of newbies asking what they can have during this or that stage of the pre/post op diet. Doctors give different diets to different patients; however the foods on the different stages are often very similar. Here are the 4 stages I had during my post op diet (straight from my post op paperwork): Stage 1: Clear Liquids · Water · Broth or the clear liquid poured off of soup (strain out solids, no creamy soup) · Black coffee (may be sweetened with artificial sweetener; preferably decaf) · Clear juices (not OJ ~ it’s not clear); 100% juice (not from concentrate) · Crystal Light · Sugar-free Jello (with no solid fruit) · Sugar-free Popsicles · Gatorade/Powerade · Herbal teas (caffeine-free) Stage 2: Liquids · All clear liquids · Protein shakes (low-fat, low-carb) · Fat-free milk · Orange Juice · Low-fat instant breakfast mixes · V8 juice Stage 3: Full Liquids · All clear liquids · All liquids · Apple sauce · Oatmeal/cream of wheat (thinned) · Smoothies · Low-fat creamy soups (strained out solids) · Puréed soups/vegetables · Low-fat, low-sugar pudding · Low-fat, low-sugar yogurt · Puréed fruit · Low-fat ice cream/frozen yogurt Stage 4: Soft food (aka Mushy) · All of the items on the liquid food list · Tuna/egg/chicken salad · Well-cooked mushy vegetables (no stalk or crunchy vegetable) · Thinned scrambled eggs (if tolerated) · Baby food · Soft, over-cooked pasta · Soft canned fruit (in natural juice) · Thinned mashed potatoes · Soft sweet potatoes/yams · Thinned oatmeal · Greek yogurt · Thinned low-fat refried beans · Low-fat cottage cheese · Soft/rip bananas This is just what MY doctor had for ME. Your doctor will have different orders. I wanted to post this list to give an idea of some of the things on each list. I hope this helps.

If new pouch stretches out??
♕ajtexas♕ replied to suzannetx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me if I stretch my pouch they have to unfill me completely and I would have to do 2 weeks liquid, then they would see if the pouch has settled back or not, If it has they start fills again slowly but if it hasn't then it might require surgery. -
You could just track your food on paper, see if that works better for you. I understand the weird math, one app that helps me is "recipe convert". It converts different measurements (ie cup to tablespoons). I have an android phone but I'm sure it's available for iPhones too. Stress is a huge head hunger trigger and this time of the year is the worst! Keep checking in here and we'll help you through the rough spots. Best of luck to you.

I'm self pay, first year of fills where included in the surgery fee. After that I can pre-paying for 6 months unlimited fill/x-ray for $300 or $75 per fill/$125 for fill with x-ray.

Two Points, one to brag and one to ponder
♕ajtexas♕ replied to lassie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Humm, good ponder point. My guess would be your body structure changed over the years. But, that is just my non-medial knowledge speaking. lol Interested to see what replies you get. Congrats on the new size!!!! -
How long have you had the band?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to wozzicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI was 37 when I was banded. Lost 75 pounds in 10 months and now my BMI is normal. The band is the best thing I have done for myself. -
I can't post images on my Signature, I'm desperate!

Among other things. -
Try keeping a food/emotions journal. Every time you eat log what you ate, the time of day, and how you felt at the time. You said you at 3 Cookies, what where you feeling at the time you ate them. Happy, sad, angry, bored? You will start to see a pattern and identify what the emotional trigger is. I have said many times, if only we could band the head. The head hunger is the hardest battle for me. The other thing to try is when you crave something or you think your hungry drink a 8 oz glass of Water first and if after the water you're still hungry and want whatever you crave then go ahead and have a measured portion of it. Goo luck to you. I hope my suggestions help.

Post op 8 days havent lost a pound!
♕ajtexas♕ replied to CandyM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now is the time for healing, try not to focus on the weight. I suggest putting the scale away for a while. Once your body is healed and you are on regular food, then start weighing. Good luck to you. -
Happy Bandiversary and congrats on your success.

You're welcome. I look forward to hearing about your progress. I know you will do great.

I was self-pay, worth every penny. I don't "work out" I walk as much as I can, I use a pedometer to track and try to get 10,000 steps in a day. Start slow and work up to it. You will get there, one day a a time and one step at a time.

Brand new and freaking out....
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Stephleupagus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone goes through the emotional roller coaster one way or another. It is a life changing event. Take a deep breath, relax and you will be fine. You want to be healthier and happier. Now you have the tool to do that. As long as you follow your doctors orders, learn the band rules and lifestyle you will be a success. You can do this! Good luck to you and know that we are here whenever you need us. -
ROFLMAO IT Genius...right!

From the android app click profile click on the picture spot (the head profile) & it will ask from carama, from gallery It's that simple, lol.

Sounds like you might have taken too big a bit, or not chewed the egg up enough and it had a hard time passing through your band. If you get food 'stuck' you will know it. you get a very heavy painful feeling in your chest, your mouth starts to salivate a lot. Sometimes the food comes back up on it's own (aka PBing) and sometimes you have to wait it out and the food finally passes through. If you eat 'one too many bits' you could experience the same feeling as getting stuck or just uncomfortable for a while. You will learn to listen for what we call the 'soft stop' warning. This is your band saying 'ok that's enough, one more bit and it's not going down...' lol Hope that answers your question. Good luck.

The most important thing right now is stay hydrated. Sip Water all day long, the appetite will come back (with a vengeance). You are still healing so don't worry about calories or weight loss. Sip your liquids and you'll do fine. Good luck.
