    Soo hungry!!!

It is very important you follow your doctor's orders right now. Your body is healing from major surgery. The band is stitched to your stomach and that needs to heal. If you start eating too soon those stitches can break and you could have complications. I don't mean to scare you (ok maybe I do) but it is really important to follow the post op diet. Don't worry about calories at this point. If you are hungry have another Protein shake or more Soup or a sugar free popsicle. I know it's tough but please stick to your doctors orders. You can make it through this.

Just a question about your goals

When I first got banded I didn't have a goal weight. I just wanted to get the weight off! Then about 4 months after being banded someone asked me what my goal was. I said I don't know maybe 160. So that became my goal until I talked with my doctor and told him my goal. He said that was too low of a weight for me (my BMI would be 22 & hard to maintain). He recommended a BMI of 25 which put me between 170-175. So my goal became that. The weight is great, but really my goal was to be happy with me & I am. I look in the mirror & I like what I see. I think that is what it is all about. Liking the person we see looking back at us in the mirror.

    Please Help to Clarify

You might want to clarify with your doctor the amount of food. I eat 3-4 oz of protein, 1/2 cup of veggies & 1/4 cup of starch if I'm still hungry & usually not. It takes me about 30 minutes to eat that. I do wait 30 seconds to 1 minute between bits. This is a learned skill and it will take you a while to find a rhythm that works for you. Good luck.

    question

It will take a few fills before you feel any restriction. You are in what is referred to as Bandster Hell, the time period before you reach restriction. It will be hard but you need to follow the band rules and eat 1 cup of food per meal, Protein first and drink your Water. Yes, it will feel like a diet but you can do this. It will take several fills before you feel restriction. Good luck.

My allergies are out of control !!

I didn't say it would damage your band. Drainage makes my band tighter & therefore I can't eat normally. Just wanted to clarify that. It is best to check with your doctor.

    New to forum

Welcome & congratulations on your success. I was also banded in February. I find hiccups are a soft stop for me, but I get them while I'm eating & not 20 minutes later. One thing that I discovered I was starting to do was not following the band eating rules like I should. I was eating too big a bits and too fast causing a lot of discomfort after the meal. You might see if that is what is causing the hiccups and the throwing up. I would also suggest asking your doctor. Good luck to you.

How my metabolism has changed so much

It's great to be able to enjoy the holidays without food controlling them. Congratulations on all your success.
  10. When you say 'fake nails' do you mean acrylic nails? I would think that is fine (it's not like they will fall off). But, I would check with your doctor or the hospital to be sure. Good luck with your surgery.

    1mo 1week post op

You probably didn't damage your tummy, but please get back to your doctors post op instructions. I know it's hard and as the swelling goes down it gets harder, but it is important to follow your doctors orders. Good luck to you.

    I went a little overboard.....but that's ok.

You did fantastic! You where honest with yourself, you logged your food, you exercised and you got right back on track the next day. This is a journey with lots of hills and valleys. It's okay to go over every once in a while (we all do) and you handled it with full control. Be proud of yourself! Congratulations, that is a success. Happy New Year!

    I needed that....

Your honesty is uplifting. Thank you for that. I have just reached my goal and entering into the new road of maintenance and this scares me more than the weight loss journey did. It is so refreshing to read stories like your, because as Missy said we are all human and we are going to have ups and downs. The key is being honest with yourself and doing something about it. & that is what you are doing. Again, thanks for your honesty and good luck to you.

My allergies are out of control !!

I have Fluid removed when my allergies are bad because the sinus drainage tightens my band. I suggest a slight unfill for now.

I feel like such a fraud

I was so excited that my clothing sizes where shrinking that I danced into the normal section..... lol I still have a hard time believing that I wear a size 10. I'll pick up a pair of 10 pants and think "too small" so I always take size 10 & 12 to the fitting room..... yep, the 12's are too big, I really am a size 10. You will get use to the change (& it's a great change)! Good luck on your journey, enjoy all the NSV like this!
  18. Holidays are behind us. On to a new year and continued success in our weight loss journey.
