Hello this is my first post
♕ajtexas♕ replied to beffy12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on your new healthy life. One thing I always say is if only we could band our head. The band helps with the physical eating but it does nothing to our head. Your dreams are your head messing with you. The head hunger, emotional eating, boredom eating, etc will not change with the band. It is up to you to battle that (& that's the hard part!) But with us to support you, I know you can do it! Good luck to you!! -
You are correct, couldn't said it better.

Mushies ah heaven!
♕ajtexas♕ replied to VictoriousPassion's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ahhh, it's the mushie things in life. Congrats to entering the next stage of your journey. Time to start practicing your band rules. Small bites (nickle size), chew chew chew and wait 1 minute between bites. Good luck on your journey! -
I take EcoDrink, it's a powder that you add to a 16.9oz bottle of water. NUT approved & I get my water in & my vitamins for the day. I get it at Sams but they also sell it on amazon,

Don't give up Tammy! Appeal if you have to. I was self pay because my insurance didn't cover WLS. But, it was the best 10K I ever spent. I love my band! In the mean time hang around this site and meet all the crazy loving bandsters! Read about the successes and the failures, learn the band rules (you'll need them) and everything else. My fingers are cross for you, good luck!

Great Idea Cheryl. I'll be doing this for work lunches, thanks! -
Ahhh to cross legs. I find that is what I do every time I sit down now, because I CAN!!! Don't know about the bike thing, never been on one...... Congrats Maddy!!!!!

Lately I have had to do a re due. I had to get my phone out to time between bites.... Funny almost a year into this and I still have to go back to the basics.

I'm a risk analyst for the Texas Comptrollers Office, in other words I advise the different divisions within my agency how to keep their data safe.

Congratulations on your new healthy life. You will stay motivated by looking at the big picture, don't get stuck on the head game of it. When you are on liquids don't count calories, get on the scale. or worry about your weight. If you are hungry have more liquids. And if you get frustrated come here for the support. We will help you through it. Good luck!

Congrats & happy birthday!!!! -
((((((Big Hugs)))))) You are not alone. We will support you in this journey. Give hubby time to adjust. You just went through major surgery that is going to change you for life and he needs to adjust to that. It's life changing for our families too and we forget that sometimes. You said "I think he feels he's lost his partner in the dinning realm" and you are probably right, so give him the time to accept the loss In the mean time enjoy your journey, don't give up cause a health you is what hubby and your daughter need.

Congratulations. I have been at my goal for about 1 month so I'm just learning the maintenance stage of the journey.

Question for the ladies...
♕ajtexas♕ replied to aprilmmason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its not uncommon for your cycle to be thrown off, if it continues you might want to mention it to your doctors. -
First, welcome. Second, you are dragging your feel and scared because this is a life changing decision you are about to make. It was the best decision I have made and I just regret not making it sooner. My band has been a wonderful tool that has helped me loose 75 pounds in ten months. I now eat healthier than I ever have, I don't drink soda, don't go to fast food restaurants, don't eat a lot of sugar or white carbs. I have completely changed my lifestyle and I love it. If you have been 'lurking' for a year then you have read the success stories as well as the troubles/failed stories so I don't need to recommend that. lol. Good luck on your journey to a new health life.

White meat vs Dark meat?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never had a problem with either dark or white meat. But I can see Honk's point, the dark meat being moist would go down easier. Interesting to see if others have found this to be true. -
Thoughts & prayers for a speedy recovery.

Dr.s Office just called....
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you! Great way to start the New Year. -
Like Floridays I never felt like I was in bandster hell. I focued on my portion sizes, eating protien first, bit sizes, chewing and not eating too fast. And I was fortunate to see a steady weight loss through the whole time. I guess I was lucky.
-
I was self pay and it was less than 4 weeks between my initial visit and surgery. Itdepends on your doctor as to how long it takes. Good luck to you.
-
I believe it. Having a positive attitude can do amazing things and positive attitudes come from happy people. At least thats my opinion.
-
Luckily its not exact science. You will find what works best for you. Just go with that and you will do fine. Good luck to you.
