New to LapBand 2 weeks Post op

2 weeks post op. what diet does your doctor have you on? Your body is still healing and as the swelling goes down you will feel hungry more & more. Drink lots of Water, eat sugar free Popsicle and keep yourself busy (clean closets, garage, walk, do crafts, etc). You are entering into the stage we call Bandster Hell, the time between the surgery and having restriction. Also, focus on your meal sizes, small bits, chewing and waiting 1 minute between bits. It's tough but you will make it through this! Good luck to you.

    Eggs betrayed me

A lot of bandsters have problems eating scrambled eggs (fortunately I am not one of them). My band is tighter in the morning, I don't try to eat anything for the first 2 hours and I always have coffee first. My only suggestion is don't give up. Try having your coffee first (hot liquids do relax a tight band) and then try the eggs. You might find that works.

    Impatient

The other thing I did early in my journey was I kept a journal. I tried to log every day, logged what I was feeling, any issues I had especially with food. figured out that I eat when I'm bored, so for me keeping busy was critical. The head hunger is going to be the hardest battle. If only we could band our heads. Bottom line is don't loose focus on your goal, do everything you can to get there and don't let anything stop you! You can do this. Oh and come back here daily, this is the best support you will find!

    Impatient

Create your game plan. How are you going to manage your meals, Type of meals, pre make meals, etc... Exercise, what are you going to do? Walk? Go to the Gym? Do you have a Water bottle? What are your food triggers (head hunger)? Do you eat when you are bored? Upset? Stressed? How will you cope with that? And if that doesn't do it, start cleaning out closest & draws in your house. Do whatever you need to do to stay busy and focus on the mission at hand. To be healthy. Good luck to you.

Just downloaded the app to try. Thanks Terry.

First mushie meal 9 days post-op

Congrats on your first meal. Try to remember those signs. As the swelling goes down these signs may slip away until you get fills and restriction. Practice the eating habits every time you eat. Almost a year banded and I still have to slow down and take smaller bits.....very easy to forget. Sounds like you are doing great, keep it up!
  10. If you cheat you are only cheating yourself. You can get through this. Go for a walk, have a sugar free popsicle. Keep your eye on the target, you want this surgery and you have to do this in order to accomplish what you want. ((hugs))

    Fills!! How many??

It took me about 8 fills over 8 months. I did loose weight during that time and was within 10 pounds of my goal once I was in the green zone. I focused on changing my lifestyle to a healthy life I could live with. And it's working for me. Good luck.

    Liquid diet vs low-carb diet

I did Adkins for 2 weeks pre op, my bmi was 37. I still focus my meals around high Protein and low carbs. It works for me. My bmi is 25.4 now.

    No Exercise

I hate exercising, formal exercising, gyms all that stuff. I don't have a formal exercise program but i do move a heck of a lot more that before my band. I started off slow, got a Fitbit (pedometer on steroids!). It motivated me to walk more each day and it tracked my stair climbing. Next thing I knew I was taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Now I'm doing the Challenge a fellow bandster posted (walk 100 miles in January). Go figure and I hate exercising. Don't right it off, just see where this jouney takes you. You may surprise yourself. I know I did.

    Im starting to freak out

We all fear failure, thatis a normal fear. It's good to be scared, I was scared. I knew I was about to change everything about my life with one simple surgery. Now almost a year later I can't image my life any other way. I eat healthy, I exercise, I've made life long friends here and my goal is staring me in the face. Wahoo, best decision I've made.

    Need Advice

If it was me, I would wait and let things settle both with the stress and the band. I would see how I do for the next couple of weeks and decide then. Just my thought. Good luck to you.

    mind over matter

One thing I did when I first started on this journey was to keep a journal. Every day I would journal how I was feeling that day, happy sad, etc... How I felt when I ate. Was I bored, sad, mad, happy. This helped me identify my head hunger and its triggers. Now, I know the triggers and I've replaced the food with other things like going for a walk or having a cup of hot tea, etc... Hope this helps.
