I was bloated for about 7-10 days after surgery. Don't worry about the weight loss right now, let your body heal.

how am i supposed to consume 1500 calories a day?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to angieband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you met with a nutritionist? They could help you with a meal plan. I track my food on an app called myfitnesspal (quite a few members use it). This will help you track what you are eating and your Protein. I ate 1100-1200 calories a day, 60-70g of protein when I was loosing, now that I am at goal I still average 1200 calories (some day's up to 1500). If you use myfitnesspal you can add me as a friend & see my food log (user name: ajtexas). Hope this helps. -
Emotional after surgery?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me the hardest part was the mental things. If only we could band our heads. That would help so much, control our emotions and our head hunger then it would be so much easier. But we can't so we are stuck with working through them. Having a good support system is one of the things that made me a success. I have a wonderful family that didn't always understand what I was going through but was always there for me. I have a support group at my doctors office that meet once a month and I have all my LBT friends who I lean on every day. If you need a shoulder to lean on know that I am here & would be happy to be part of your support system. Good luck to you. -
Tifagirl you rock! You are well on your way. Congrats, so proud for you!

Hi Lemens ~ I was banded February 2012, I'm 46 in Austin, Texas. You say you are struggling, can you give me a little more information as to what is going on? I'd love to help you. Offer you my experiences over the last year and support you. If you prefer PM me and we can chat a little. I'd love to help.

Emotional after surgery?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, high emotions are normal. You are changing your life, wow! That is big. I was banded a year ago yesterday, looking back it was an emotional roller coaster. the surgery, my first fill, my first stuck experience (with PBing), my first unfill, eating in front of family, eating in a restaurant, the list goes on. Wow how did I manage? Day by day, situation by situation. The beginning was the scariest and hardest. What helped me was I started writing in a journal (I didn't discover this site until 4 months post-op). I would write about my emotions, food I ate, doctors appointment, really anything that was on my mind. It helped express the emotions that I felt. Once I found LBT I would post & blog those emotions so my journal was replaced. I understand how you feel and if you are anything like me you are going to have happy & sad feelings throughout this journey. We will be here to offer support to you, that I promise. -
Chris for me, I needed to find what worked. My doctor allows drinking with meals, just wait 1 minute after a bite take a drink & then wait a minute before the next bit. Sometimes I drink with a meal, sometimes I don't. Mostly I don't because I find that I get the satisfied feeling & it lasts longer if I don't. I also eat sweets in my day. Frozen yogurt bars, snack bars, sugar free pudding, etc. I found that I had to make my new lifestyle something that I was happy with & that I could stick to. I also drink a glass of wine before my dinner every night, again my doctor has no problem with that & I enjoy wine. I belong to a wine club with a Texas winery in Lubbock heading there tomorrow for a wine & chocolate festive tomorrow night (& yes I will also sample some chocolate). All in moderation. Find what works for you. I did and some of the things I found that work for me are thing my fellow LBT friends say are no-nos...but they work for me. Good luck to you.

I'm speechless. Why are we hurting each other? Why?

Much better. Doesn't mean we are going to stop. js -
During my weight loss stage of my journey I would have days where I would eat 1100-1200 calories and then I'd have days where I would eat up to 1500 calories. Having the ups and downs with the calories seemed to help with my journey. I lost weight every month.

I was banded one year ago today and boy what a year it has been. One year ago I weighed 250 pounds. One year ago I wore a size 22. One year ago I was pre-diabetic. One year ago my blood pressure was out of control high ( I was taking 3 different meds trying to stabilize it). One year ago I couldn’t walk up a flight of stairs without gasping for air. One year ago I hated myself. Today I weigh 171 pounds. (lost 79 pounds) Today I wear size 10. Today my blood sugar is normal. Today my blood pressure is stable with only 1 mild medication. Today I walk up the stairs to the eight floor of my office building. Today I love myself. I achieved this success by following my doctor’s orders, eating a 1200 calorie diet that is high protein (60-70g), and moving everyday one step at a time. Most important with a great support system; my family, friends, doctor, support group and LBT have all supported me every step of the way. I thank and love each and every one of you. Happy first birthday yellow rose!

Thanks everyone. I couldn't of succeeded without the love & support from family & friends, especially my LBT family. You guys are awesome.

Do you log your food? You said you have junk foods at times, how much? how often? It's surprising how much we eat when we don't log it. I log my food, everything, every day (I use myfitnesspal). I eat 1200 calories a day, about 60-70g of Protein. Also you might talk with your doctor and/or a nutritionist, they can help you structure a meal plan. Good luck to you.

Alcohol is empty calories so a lot of doctors do not want you consuming empty calories. I enjoy wine & drink a glass every night before dinner (have since day one). I counted the calories into my 1200 calories. Now that I am at goal I enjoy a martini once a week, too. Carbonation is off limits (beer & champagne) unless you let it go flat first. Ask your doctor what he recommends.

Congratulations, you are doing great.

Non scale victory.

What a wonderful day. Congrats!

Congratulations. You have made 2 huge accomplishments. First, you recommitted yourself and second, you were honest with yourself and your doctor. Kudos to you. Keep that attitude and you will do great. I believe that. Good luck with your upcoming surgery.
