Yes we can eat oranges with the band. We can eat ANY food with the band. Some people have trouble eating some foods and therefore choose not to eat them. I keep my band looser that most on this sight and I have no problems eating foods. Some foods take a little more care to eat than others. By care I mean smaller bits and chewing a lot more. I enjoy oranges, in fact I had one with my lunch today. Enjoy.

It's hard to give you help when your profile is blank. When were you banded? Have you had a fill? What are you eating? Are you exercising? How much Water to you drink? Need some more information then we might be able to help.

I just take small bits off a roll. Be careful of the seaweed that is hard to chew & can get stuck. Enjoy!

Dinner tonight
♕ajtexas♕ replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't wait for dinner. Got a fill last week & it was too tight so had a small unfill this morning. I am now able to eat. So dinner will be parmesan pecan baked tilapia with crnberries & green beans stir fried. -
Dr O'Brien in Australia (a lap band pioneer) promotes a glass of wine a day. It worked for me. I think the key is if you can manage your drinking then great. But if not... could mean trouble. Good luck to you.

In the beginning I only told immediate family. Told work I was having surgery, but no details. Now, I tell anyone who asks. I was even interviewed at work about it. That article went out to 3000 employees. Guess everyone knows now. Lol You will tell who you want when you are ready. Congrats on starting a new healthy life.

I have wine every night before dinnet. I have since day one. I count the calories and keep within my 1200 calories a day. It never hindered my weight loss.

I have never had a problem with eggs. Cooked any way they go down. But everyone is different.

I was banded on February 7, 2012 my starting weigh was 250 pounds, I wore a size 22 and my BMI was 37. Today I weigh 171 (lost 79 pounds), I wear a size 10 and my BMI is normal at 25! stacy.bmp

And you are seeing results. Just keep doing what you are doing. Keep us posted!

Only you know the answer to that question. As you know the band is a tool to assist you in loosing weight. We have to change our eating habits as well. You lost 64lbs before your port revision, so there is no reason to think you won't loose weight now. Talk with your surgeon and nutritionist and create a game plan for yourself. Good luck.

How badly do you want to be Thin?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bad enough to spend 10k of my hsrd earned money on myself and to completely change my eating/exercise habits. Best 10k I've ever spent. No regrets, I am thin & health. I love my band & new life. -
It's more important to log when you fall off. I know it's hard but it makes you accountable and maybe next time you'll think twice cause you know you are going to have to put it to ink. Keep doing what you are doing. You'll get there. The head hunger and cravings are a real B*****.

Birdie, we all have triggers that cause us to binge. What I did was I kept a food journal. I would log everything I ate, time of day, how I was feeling, what happen during that day and anything else I wanted. This helped me find patterns to my head hunger, once I knew what to look for I could take measures to divert it. Be proud that you recognized your downfall and you got right back on track. This journey has lots of bumps along the way, you will get through them all. Good luck to you. You can do this.

5 days post op and shoulder pain?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Alexrv1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes the shoulder pain is from the gas used during your surgery. GasX will not help this. Walking and a heating pad is what is recommended. As for Mylanta you should call your doctor and ask. Sorry you are suffering, but it will ease up. Congrats on your new healthy life. -
As you know I reached my goal a couple of months ago and am now in the maintenance stage of my journey. Simple, all I have to do is maintain my weight. I still check in with my doctor every four weeks (my choice not his). This last month has been full of ups and downs with a lot of changes, basically life has been happening. I had to battle the head hunger on more than one occasion. Then about a week and a half ago I started noticing that my daily calorie intake was creeping up. 10 calories more, then 20, then 30, etc… I was starting to get hungry (physical hunger) in between breakfast and lunch, this hasn't happened since bandster hell. That was the deciding factor for me, I needed a fill. I went for my four week checkup today and to no surprise I was up two pounds. After discussing things with my doctor I got the fill I wanted (just a small one .2cc). My point here is that once you reach your goal you’re not done. In fact, It’s harder to maintain your weight that to loose, in my opinion. Guess I need to change my ticker now.

What a great analogy.

First day of full fluids didn't go so well.....suggestions??
♕ajtexas♕ replied to NurseKelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you might of drank too fast and maybe too much at one time. Your stomach is still healing and swollen. When I started the full liquid stage I could only drink small amounts at a time (2-4 oz). As long as you stay hydrated you should be fine. But be sure to follow up with your doctor. Hope you feel better.
