1st fill tomorrow.....scared!!!!
♕ajtexas♕ replied to meganb0216's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Relax, fills are easy. For me they are like getting a shot, just a pin prick. Don't worry, it will be over before you know it. Every doctor does fills differently so it is hard to say how your doctor will do it. You will do fine, promise! -
Has anyone else experienced this?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Miss V's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you are feeling is probably normal. I find that my head messes with me as much as my band does. You are super sensitive to every new feeling and therefore you question it. Stay on liquids and slowly try mushies as you get hungry, eat small bits very slowly and see how you do. Be sure to keep in contact with you doctors office. You might have gotten too much of a fill to start with. Good luck to you, it will get easier as you learn the new feelings & signals from your band. -
Might ask your doctor is there are other brands of Protein shakes you can have. See if there is some you like. Good luck.

I have wine every night, I have since day one. Just remember that they are empty calories, log them in your calories for the day & enjoy!

1st year anniversary approaching

You will do awesome as you have since June 6th! You are an inspiration to us all. We love & support you every step of the way! -
Warm liquids help, tea or coffee. Some choose to just drink a Protein shake for breakfast. I drink coffee first then eat breakfast about 1 to 2 hours after I get up.

No time for TV, life too busy. Only have an antenna, don't miss any shows!!! I say, turn the TV off and do something!

Yes, but we like them!!!

It will pass! Lesson learned, measure your food. I am a year post op and still measure my food. The eye is not very good in the measuring department. lol Your body will let you know when it is hungry again, just listen to it. If doing liquids makes you feel better then go for it, but I don't think you hurt anything and need to do liquids. It is a learning experience. remember the first feeling you got before you felt over fill, that was your soft stop. Next time, stop when you feel that. Good luck to you. PS I am still learning, it never ends.

Have you ever taken a bit of something and as you are chewing it you think “this is way too big of a bit” so you stuff half the bit in your cheek and swallow the other half? And a few seconds later you swallow the half in your cheek… How did that work out for you? It has never worked out successfully for me. Usually within minutes I am at the sink or toilet watching the bits go down the drain… sorry if this is TMI. I hate it when this happens and often it happens when I an overly hungry or the meal is really tasty. That makes it even worse because it ends the meal completely for me. So, I have to remember to take small bits, even when it is really really good and chew them completely, otherwise my yellow rose will reject them and I will not enjoy my meal. Lesson learned; I am not a squirrel!

The band is a wonderful tool and it will help you if you do your part. I found the green zone after about 6 months (20 lbs from goal). I reached my doctors goal at 10 months & my goal at a year. But, I like my band on the looser side. You will read about people who want gheir band tight. Not me. I can eat any foods and very rearly get stuck. I have had small unfill because I felt too tight and couldn't eat like I wanted. You will need to figure out what works for you. Follow the doctors orders & diets, meet with the nutritionist and follow the 8 golden rules. You will be successful. Plus, hang out here. I've made some great friends here who have supported me every step of the way. -

The 10k includes a year of after care, so you can go as often as you want. Once the year is up you can pay for 6 months at a time $240 ($40 per month). Again go as often as you want. Definately a good deal. -

You can & should schedule appointments in advance. When I went to my first post op appointment I scheduled my next 3 appointments. I go every 4 weeks (still). I don't always get a fill, but I check in. Once you are in the Green zone it will be your choice how often you go. For me the appointments kept me on track. -
That is awesome!

I went to True Results in Austin. I recommend True Results without question. My surgeon was great, but even better is the after care that True Results give. I was self pay, too. They have everything you need, nutritionist, counselling, great nurse practitioners and x-ray on site. You are in good hands. Will you be travelling to Dallas for your aftercare, too? -

A little info from the veterans plz....
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Tashaplus3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can eat anything I want. What I want now is very different from what I use to want. I, like Dee, use to think I could never live without certain foods, but I can & do. I do treat myself to things every now & then, but a small amount (bit or two) is all I need. There is a lot of adjusting in the head with any wls. You will change your eating for the better and it will make you healthier. Good luck to you. -

Get your ass moving AJ! You have been slacking on this. The Fitbit doesn't lie. It shows that your daily steps are way down, no where near the 10,000 step per day goal. And what happened to taking the stairs at work???? Slacking there too! Vacation is over! First tine tomorrow you will get moving. Tomorrow, hell, what is wrong with right now? Stop typing and get moving! NOW!!!! Will do, just as soon as this video is over. OK, as long as you dance during the video!!!

Missy is correct. Plus you will continue to have issues if you eat to big a bits and too fast. Practice small bits, chewing till mush and eating slower. Then discuss with your doctor. It is a learning experience that doesn't stop, I'm a year banded and still have to slow down sometimes. Hubby often says "that looks like an awfully big bit." Lol he is usually right. Good luck.

You just hit the nail on the head. The head game is the hardest part of this journey, in my opinion! In time it will get easier, just keep plugging at it. As for the before & after pics, go to your settings, click my surgery, click my photos (left column) and you can add your before & after pics there.

Actually, I've been at goal for about 2 months. I updated my ticker yesterday & that statement came up. Won't go away. Lol Thanks so much!

SaraJ, As for exercise. when I'm at work I take the stairs (work on the 8th floor) and try to log 10,000 step each day. On the weekends I do a lot of gardening. I live on a 13 acre farm & there is always work to be done. So yes I exercise but no I don't do the gym regiment. Thanks for the compliment.
