Thanks everyone, you guys are the best!!! Today was a new day and it's onward and upward!

I was banded a little over a year ago, I've lost over 80 pounds and I am at my goal weight. I also drink wine every evening. I don’t hide this from anyone. I have posted such information several times and when I get PM’d about it I answer honestly. I knew when I decided to get the band that I would have to change my life and I was more than willing to do just that. But, I was not willing to give up my wine. I enjoy wine, I like the taste. My husband & I often go wine tasting at some of the Texas wineries. So, I decided that wine was going to be a part of my lifestyle. From day one (& before) I have enjoyed my evening wine. Yes, the evening of my surgery I had a glass. I count the empty calories (110 calories for 5oz of wine, approximately) and I am careful. I know that wine relaxes the band right along with you. So if you drink too much and the munchies set in…..everything will go down & then some. I am responsible with my wine. I don’t drink for the effect of the alcohol. I drink wine because of the taste. You wonder, does my doctor know? Of course he does, I tell my doctor everything. Hiding information from your doctor only hurts you. My thoughts are this, if you have something you love and you can manage it then you should enjoy it. Make it a part of your plan. I have a friend that has a treat once a week of their favorite fast food meal, and another who has a single serving bag of Cheetos every day. Depriving yourself will not work. If you are anything like me, you will get resentful and end up splurging and hating yourself after. Enjoy your love, just manage it and you will succeed.

Thanks Arlene. One of the things I stress to myself as well as other is to be honest. Writing this blog and logging all 9 ice creams in MyFitnessPal is being honest to myself & that is important to me. You are right tomorrow is a new day.

Way to go!!

Agree. I just want the newbies to know that they do not have to give up the things they love. All they have to do is manage them in moderation.

I gained 3lbs since yesterday

Don't say that it goes straight to their heads.... -
There are a lot of great food recipes and recommendations in the Food & Nutrition forum. Also, a lot of us use MyFtinessPal to track their food and share their diary with friends. I am user: ajtexas0, feel free to add me as a friend & you will see what my days are like. I plan my dinners a week at a time so I can do my grocery shopping, then I make my lunch for work the night before. So the only thing not planned is Breakfast & that is usually eggs or oatmeal. The best advise I have is get a notebook & plan days of meals out. When they are written sown and your in a slump, don't know what to plan, you can look back for ideas. It works for me!

Do you really lose fluid in your band
♕ajtexas♕ replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Trust your nurse. There are 'theories' that the fluid can evaporate from the band, no scientific evidence to back it.... If your band leaks, you will loose fluid, but otherwise you will not loose fluid. -
I have reached my first goal!

I gained 3lbs since yesterday

You were banded 6 days ago. PUT THE scale AWAY!!!!! Your body is healing, it's swollen, full of fluids & gas..... the scale is not going to be your friend right now. I would suggest you stay away from the scale for a couple of weeks, get through your post-op diets and let your body heal. You will see results soon! -
Drinking alcohol during pre-op
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Connie26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is always bet to do as your doctor says. I enjoy wine, I have a glass every night before dinner. I did when I was pre-op and I did when I was post-op, my doctor knew and had no problem with that. It did not hinder my journey. Communicate with your doctor and do what works for you. Best of luck to you. -
Happy Meal (and not the Mickey D kind)
♕ajtexas♕ replied to parisshel's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So you didn't get a toy...... lol Congrats! Eating out doesn't have to be stressful. I always bring half of my meal home, I either eat it for another meal or my chickens get a treat (& they love that). -
I have no problems eating any foods, bread & tortillas included. I choose not to eat bread/tortillas most of the time but I do enjoy them on occasion. You will have to test the waters and see what works for you, good luck,

Congrats and have a great time on your trip! -
what's this feeling?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to TEAM SASHA PINK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To fill or not to fill..... You are feeling some restriction. Is it enough? Could be, but in two weeks it might not. Don't worry about having a fill right now. Wait until your appointment and see how you are then. I went through this every time I was scheduled for a fill, get one don't get one. What I ended up doing was talking with my doctor and deciding that day. Good luck to you. -
Good idea or really bad habit???
♕ajtexas♕ replied to jbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No judging. We all have demons in our closets otherwise we wouldn't need WLS. You admitted it and now you choose not to continue to do it. That is huge! One of the hardest parts of this journey is the head and those demons. You are working on them and therefore you will succeed. Good for you, I am proud of you. -
Good idea or really bad habit???
♕ajtexas♕ replied to jbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never done it. Personally my though is it would be a very bad habit. I changed my lifestyle, food is not my enemy I enjoy food, I just learned to eat health food in moderation. -
First of relax, chances are your band is fine. I would suggest doing liquids for another 24 hours, then do mushies for 24 hours. Your band is swollen and irritated so best not to push it. I would also suggest a call to your doctor to let them know what happened, they are best to advise you. It is a learning curve after every fill. You think you are eating small bits slowly, but the band tells you otherwise. Best of luck to you.
