When can i eat solid foods
♕ajtexas♕ replied to clarissa83's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Didn't your doctor give you post op instructions? Pain meds? If you are in pain please call your doctor. It will get better in time, you are healing right now. -
Am I Doing Something Wrong?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Bjc1227's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BJC do what works for you. If your current diet works, why change it. I have a friend who has had the band for almost a year now, never had a fill and has lost over 100 pounds (117 to be exact). She often asks if she should get a fill and I say. Can you go 3-4 hours without feeling hungry? Do you eat more that 1 cup of food a meal? If you can go 3-4 hour without feeling hungry and you are only eating 1 cup of food or less then you do not need a fill. And it sounds like you are doing great with what you have. Keep it up! -
Why? Why can't you eat Beans? I know there are some foods that I have to take extra small bits with and chew extra long, sometimes wait a little longer between bits, but I can eat anything. I just wonder why you feel you can never eat beans again. The beans are having a sad!

Congrats to all your success, you are rocking it!!! -
Yasso makes a great frozen greek yogurt bar, 80 calories, 6g protein. They have strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, coconut & vanilla bean. I often have one as a snack.

I enjoy wine, in fact I have a glass every night before dinner. I have done this since day one of my journey. I count the calories (110 calories for 5 ozs) and I keep it in moderation. My thought is don't deprive yourself of something you love, find a way to have it in moderation.

That is a new one to me, but if you want crushed ice then have crushed ice. The important part is to stay hydrated. Congrats on your surgery!

Erin, You have made progress, not giving up is progress. You haven't given up on yourself or the band. When was the last time you saw your doctor? Had a fill? What are you eating? How much? Do you exercise? I could go on but I bet you have already started answering these questions. You can do this. Keep coming here for support. You will find a lot of support, information and friends on this site. Best wishes to you.

How strict are you day to day?
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Mizz_Megan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made my journey a lifestyle change. I still have my treats, like a glass of wine every night. I have cake, Cookies, etc on occasion. I agree with Missy with the 90%/10% rule. I can eat anything I want, I just choose to eat what is best for me to keep maintaining my weight. Finding the right balance is what works for me. Good luck to you. It sounds like you are on the right course. -

I totally agree with Dawn. YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. Yes I meant to yell. So quit thinking that way. The failure is your doctor. The amount needed for restriction varies from patient to patient. I would suggest going back to your doctor and demand a fill with x-ray so he & you can see how much restriction you have (or don't have). Remember the doctor works for you, you are the customer and right now you are getting crappy customer service. You are not failing, you have a tool that has not been tuned up correctly. If your doctor will not do as you ask then I would get another doctor. Good luck to you.

Cutiepie, time to get beck in the game. Fresh start, focus on what you are eating, 1/2 - 1 cup per meal, Protein first (3-4ozs) then veggies, then carbs. Weigh your food, log what you eat, and if you can consult with a nutritionist. You can do this. Change that helplessness and depression into positive I CAN DO THIS thoughts. As Ms. Carolinagirl says you have to have WANT POWER. & I know you want this. I believe in you.

Compiling a Issue/Response Guide
♕ajtexas♕ replied to Bandashoop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One suggestion to add. When I get stuck or eat too fast and have that lead weight feeling.... I walk around untill the food moves (down or up). The moving seems to help. One rule I have to deal with Head Hunger is I have to drink a glass of Water and do something for 30 minutes (walk, sew, etc). If I am still hungry after that I get a snack. Hope these are things you are looking for. Good luck.
