Been on Costco Premier protein shakes since June prior to lapband surgery. No issues. I put them in freezer for 30-45 minutes and drink like a slurpy. -

If you could give 1 piece of Pre-op advice, what would it be?
Rojasanoll replied to girlgetsLB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take your pain meds after surgery whether you hurt or not and try out your heating pad to see if it works. -
I did baby oatmeal from Walmart. Truly refined for a baby.

Costco Premier Protein shake ready to drink. Been on them for almost a year. -
Wow, they let you eat protein shakes after surgery. Lucky You. It was bland chicken broths, SF jello, SF popsicles for 7-10 days after surgery for me.Only when two weeks were up I was able to introduce additonal liquid foods.

How does a gastric band REALLY work?
Rojasanoll replied to Sally Johnston's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I guess lots of people here never received all this information from their doctor's office before surgery. I actually have a Allergan Omiform 14cc proto-type lapband here at home. My sister works for Allergan and i was able to read clinical studies on the band and what it truly does. Thanks for the insight. -
I often eat a bowl of soup for dinner. Early in the beginning I couldn't finish the soup, but now I can.
-
heating pad works, walking often helps moves the gas. sip lots of water and DO take pain meds so you can sleep.
-
Yes and they have a excellent candy flavor in childrens medicine that you can take as well.

Officially nervous about recovery pain
Rojasanoll replied to Shante92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had gas pain the first 24-34 hours and after that nothing. I drove less than 12 hours after surgery and felt fine. For me, the not knowing what to expect was the biggest pain. I used the liquid vicodin that first night and in early morning after getting up and never again. Use the heating pad on your upper shoulders even if you don't experience any discomfort. The heat will loosen all your muscles and they wont constrict as much so you will feel more relaxed and very little gas pains will occur. I use dthe heating pad on my upper shoulders 3 times a day (15-20 minutes each time) watching TV. It helps. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -

Has anyone else felt this way?
Rojasanoll replied to skinnyhereicome's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Unfortuantely, even with a band or other surgeries, to lose weight which some of us have had since birth is very hard. Determination is one way to get back on track. Admit that You have fallen off a bit and jump back in starting like you did before, the liquids but be very determine because you have had a big taste of food again. It will be hard but imagaine if you lost another 35 pounds. YOU have to attack this problem very hard. It worked for You in the past and only YOU can make it work again. Do It for your health and your future. Best wishes and keep the faith. -
I'll take two tacos , please!

2nd Fill yesterday and I'm miserable
Rojasanoll replied to Shalee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your doctor should have included to you a liquid diet only for the first 2 days after this fill which was a biggie. You must have a 14cc band for him to put in so much. When i get fills i usually add an extra day for recovery to the doctors 24 hours only. I would dilute the Protein shake with some Water or skim milk to make it less thick. Best wishes -
Has anyone had a colonoscopy after lap band?
Rojasanoll replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Prepare yourself and make it easier. You know the day of the colonoscopy, a day or two before procedure start eating Protein shakes at every meal. Get yourself to liquids, light Soups, this will make it better overall. The magnesium citratecan be taken 2-3 days ahead as to clean you out. When the doctor give you a laxative pills or liquids to take the day before, You will already be clean. This ensures a perfect picture and a good result. YOU definitely don't want to do this again. When I had mine done it was a big scare on my part but actually it was painless and very little discomfort. The hardest part is drinking the stuff to clean you which i poured in a glass and put in the freezer for 60 minutes to get it ice cold. The lemon lime or grape/cheery flavors are good. Best wishes and good luck with procedure.
