How Important Are Carbs In Post Op Diet, Banded 7/25, Protein Ideas?
Rojasanoll replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since my band on Aug 6, I'm on solid liquid for 2 weeks. Protein shakes,chicken/beef/veggie broths, SF popsicles. And I do look at all that I'm eating including carbs. You can make wise choices based on the amount of carbs between 2 items. If 1 item has 100 carbs, and the other item has 200 carbs, I select the least one in carbs. It's wise to start this way because when you do get off the stages and do start eating, You will count carbs again. Just as well stay like like this if you want to truly succeed. Best Wishes -
Liquid vicodin. This is my 3rd full day after surgery. Aches mostly in belly button area. Hiatal hernia was repaired as well and only hurt Monday night Aug 6.
-
Congratulations! I'm 3 days after surgery myself. Keep the faith.
-
Good luck with surgery!

Remember, your old brain will want water to drink, but try and sip the water rather than down the hatch. Let your stomach slowly get into any intake after the band. It won't bother you as much doing this way. Im on my 3rd day post op and I'm doing good. I drove my car day after surgery and some on Wed. Still no hunger pains at all and I have to force myself to drink all the fluids. Continued Best wishes on your recovery.

Just Home From The Hospital
Rojasanoll replied to caseyp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome home and Prayers for a speedy recovery. -
This is true. My sister works for Allergan and there are 14cc bands.
-
I'm feeling very good. Drinking my Protein Shakes Breakfast and lunch. Belly button ache and that's it. I think the hernia repair doesn't hurt me anymore. For dinner I'll try a cream Soup and see how it goes. I'm trying to stay light for a few more days. Coughing/hiccups hurts me, so that tells me I'm still tender inside. Now I don't have to take the liquid vicodin every 4 hours, but 6-8 hours. Been doing more walking outside my house several times. I drove a bit on Tuesday, went into a bank and had decaf tea with a friend at Starbucks. Today I drove 3 blocks to pickup cleaner clothes. I seem okay this quick after surgery. Best wishes to the others who also are recovering.

Congratulations and prayers for a speedy recovery. You still have lots of drugs that they use during surgery and your body is numb. As it wears out you might feel tender and sore. Have your heating pad ready. My shoulder discomfort didn't start until about 7-8 hours after surgery and remember to walk, it will help you get the gas out.

Your day is finally here. Prayers to you for a safe and speedy recovery. I banded on Aug 6. God Bless you

Finally! Banded Aug 6

For me, I expected alot worse pain and aches. Guess I'm lucky or can tolerate pain better. Walking is the secret in this, gets your gas to disapate out of your body, walking will circulate blood flow to all recovering areas with oxygen for a speedy recovery. SIP SIP SIP fluids all day, it will help give your new pouch and stomach a feeling that there is food so when you do eat food, you wont have any discomfort. Your stomach will learn quickly. Cheers -
Good luck to Aug 09 members and prayers for a speedy recovery. Keep the Faith. You will be recovering like myself before you know. Stokesmommy jellybean_2124 Fat_Librarian

Can See Port Under Skin
Rojasanoll replied to lindabug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know where my doctor put my port. Its only 2 days post op for me but i tried to feel for it and could not. In fact I don't know what size of band he put inside. I see him on a after surgery followup, on Aug 21. -
Best wishes to all upcoming Band Dates. Just follow doctors orders prior to surgery. After my band date on Aug 6, they fed me a meal. Veggie Soup, hot decaf tes, and Crystal light lemonade with Protein. IT was tasty and I was ready for a meal. Most of us have to just have clear day before surgery, and no aspirin, motrin/aleeve 10 days from surgery. I'm 2 days now in post=op and other than a sore bellybutton area all is well. If the doctor gave you pain medicine or a prescription, have the nurses at hospital FAX it to your drugstore. This way it will be ready and if its been close to 4 hours from last time the hospital gave pain meds after surgery, have your pain med ready. This way you will sleep, thank the Lord and have a restful sleep with NO pain/discomfort. And remember the ehating pad does work for any should blade aches/pain. SIP SIP SIP not chug a large glass of Water like before surgery. Drink it in 2-3oz at a time. Good luck and Prayers for your speedy recovery

7 bags of sugar before band date (Aug 6)

Help Me Get Some Pain Relief!
Rojasanoll replied to Lollicatt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I purchased from a CVS store in my hometown the same as Cindy. And like she stated you could use a childrens brand. Just talk to the druggist and tell them why and they will tell you which one and how much to increase dosage to work for you. Best wishes and use a heating blanket for 30-40 on shoulders, upper back and even lung area. It will make you feel lots better. -
What Weight Will They Turn In To Insurance For Approval?
Rojasanoll replied to audreycat123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon uses the first visit, office weight clothed with shoes and BMI. And I think thats the true way. All of us in the past have tried weight programs, Atkins, etc. We just yo-yo up and down with our weight. I had to originally lose 12 pounds before I saw the doctor, but Ive lost 34-35 pounds when I saw him. I started my diet on June18 and I saw him late July. I lost close to 1pound a day. costco Protein shakes for breakfast/lunch and a dinner salad with vinegar and oil with a broiled skinless chicken breat. Best wishes to you. Be positive! -

Banded Yesterday
Rojasanoll replied to chriszpumpkin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a band on Aug 6 as well. My shoulder pain was mild and I instantly used a heating pad and pain went away. The heat is on my back right now just in case. I also did walks of 1 city block 3 times today. I've drank about 24 oz Water so far, 12 oz nonfat milk and a decaf coffee. No Protein shake as to give my body extra healing time. 2 doses of multi-vitamins, 2 of Calcium Citrate, chewables. Try some chicken broth and eat it early not a late dinner. This will give you a chance to relax your stomach more. If hungry, a SF popsicle. Just made my post surgery followup with my doctor on Aug 21 at 10:15am. Best Wishes for a speedy recovery. -
Finally! Banded Aug 6
Rojasanoll replied to Rojasanoll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations and you will be home soon. My first day after and a little sore in bellybutton area but I can manage discomfort. Heating pad works on back and shoulder pains (gas) Be positive on your new journey. -
Just stay focused on what you are doing on Pre-op by eating right. I will be a 100% boost in your recovery state. Lots of protein and take all your vitamins. Have gas-x, Liquid Tylenol just in case. Make sure you have a heating pad and know where it is. I plugged mine on one day and checked it out. Have ice cubes for blender ready. Any food panty shelves, please use those for your lapand food items. For a few days you won"t feel like bending over, believe me. Being single, I purchased a pickup objects from Walgreen. It's mostly used by people who cant bend over and picks up lots of things off the floor/rub. Best wishes on you day. It will be here quickly!
-
Be positive and follow any and all doctor directions pre-op. Makes band day easy. Mine was easy. Very little discomfort except hernia repair. Banded 8 hours ago.
-
Was banded today (out patient) and not much discomfort. Left shoulder ache using heating pad helps 100%. A hiatal hernia was aslo fixed and more discomfort in the area. Taking liquid pain meds for hernia. Prior to hospital release I walked many minutes with a nurse. My doctor didnt want me to use ice chnips for 24 hours. I see him on followup in 2 weeks. Be positive and your day will be here soon.
