How Do U Kno If Time For A Fill
Rojasanoll replied to f1stborn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You mean WE have a say so on the fills? I didn't know this. I thought it was up to only the surgeon and how much he puts in the band based on weight loss. I don't think my surgeon will ask me othe rather than how I feel. I thought automatically all surgeons on the first fill put in 1 to 2cc as a start and then see if you maintain your weight or lose as well. -
i use my treadmill every other day for 30 minutes each session. then I lift dumbbells for 20-30 reps the off days from walking. Walking is a good and cheap way to burn calories, increase your lung volume and keep your heart in shape.

Do Lap Banders, really need BREAKFAST?
Rojasanoll replied to Helen Bauzon's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I will go back to work on Aug 16 after my band date of Aug 6. I wake up very early (0415) and I will drink a protein shake until lunch time, follow up with a small serving of nonfat greek yogurt and some crystal light until dinner time. Then another protein shake and SF popsicle later or SF jello. -
That is exactly what I did! I lost 31 pounds prior to surgery. I only had to lose 15 pounds according to dietian. And the doctor only wanted me too fast 24 hours before surgery. But I followed a liquid diet mostly to get my body and brain used too this is it for awhile. I've had no problems at all, even with after my band date of Aug 6. I'm recovering just fine and even the Protein shakes taste great. Best wishes and you're doing it the right way.

August 8, 2012 Bandster
Rojasanoll replied to SabrinaDollar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW, your surgeon let you eat sherbet and apple sauce. You are lucky I'm still on liquids (clear broth). I was banded Aug 6. My gas disappeared overnight. Heating pad on high on the back for 10-15 minutes. Then relax and before you go to bed put the heating pad on again.I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. Best wishes and Be positive. I would stop the tomato soup (acid) for 2 days and see if it goes away. -
I've been using knee braces on both knees and it helps alot. As you get older your knees develop sloppiness condition. I walk on my treadmill with the braces on. I just got banded Aug 6 and I've dropped lots of weight getting to band date and I continue to lose weight during my liquid stage post-op. My knees doen't bother me as much now. http://www.amazon.com/Futuro-Sport-Adjustable-Knee-Support-One/dp/B0016IZV9K/ref=pd_sim_hpc_1 Can be purchased at Walmart, CVS, Walgreen, a few different ones to pick.

Hi! I'm Jessica, And I Just Got Banded!
Rojasanoll replied to jessicakesbanded's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to this forum and Congratulations on yoru new journey. Here we all have something in common, to be healthy and take back control of our bodies. Take the pain meds they gave you rather than stomach any discomfort you might feel. It's okay and you won't get addicted. Heating pad for any shoulder aches and it aslo soothes your back. SIP your Water , don't drink liquids like in the past. Do your walking, even if you dont feel like it. It gives you more blood flow to areas that were disturbed during surgery. Best wishes and a speedy recovery. I was banded on Aug 6. -
How Do You Mentally Make Yourself Start Fresh?
Rojasanoll replied to JinTx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You must go back to exercising more. Its one way to burn any carlories/fat that are sticking to you. Write in a daily journal what you are eating. After a couple days, look to see what you are writing in journal. Do the simple math and determine what could or should be eliminated that is high in calories. YOU have to do it, nobody else. I think you already know what a dietian will say to you. YOU have to admit to yourself what you are doing wrong? It will be a simple "tweak" for you and diet. If you do eat more, exercise a bit more. Best wishes and get back on track. You've worked hard and had some discomfort getting this far. Don't lose what you started. -
Got Approved Today! Time To Quit Talking And Do It!
Rojasanoll replied to fostermomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be positive and follow the pro-op directions from your doctor. It's important. And just think of all the energy you will have after you lose weight. You will be stronger for yourself and for your kids. Best wishes and Congratulations! I was banded Aug 6. -
Had Surgery Wed. And Went To Work Today.
Rojasanoll replied to CB2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No matter what you do to cottage cheese, It's still cottage cheese. YUK! I used the nonfat greek yogurt, mixed a tad of crystal light to get a different and better taste. I have a crystal light lemonade nonfat greek yogurt that is quite tasty. -
May God Bless you and Be positive that one day soon, everything will get better for you . Best wishes

Congratulations and follow pre-op diet before surgery. Be positive and you will sail right through it. Guess I was lucky, my recovery was quite instant, some gas and then over night 99% gone. I'm off pain meds and I believe the only reason I had to take them was belly button pain/aches everytime i bend over or get out of bed. Keep your walking up after surgery to release the gas in your system. Use a heating pad even if you dont feel you need it. Put in on for 10-15 minutes on your upper back. Take any meds for a good nights sleep. Keep your fluids as much as you can drink, BUT SIP your water. Dont drink water like you're use to, your stomach will talk to you. Best wishes on your surgery date.

Sounds very delicious. Might ahve to try this when I can eat. I'm still on Stage 1 (liquids & clear)

I believe your doctor is correct. I've heard that a big weight loss helps with fibro conditions. I know your back and legs will feel better. I was banded on Aug 6 and I feel fine and no pain or aches anymore. I believe I had it easy during recovery. The hard thing for me is keeping up with all the Water you must drink daily. I'm in Stage 1 (liquids & clear) for 2 weeks. Best wishes and Good Luck on a successful surgery day for you.

Rojasanoll commented on RahRahRah's blog entry in Hurry Up and Wait
Sounds like your husband needs a consuelor to discus what you're trying to do. You come first because of yoru health, then you can become a better person. Let him pig out and You dont touch the junk he's buying. -
Use a heating pad at night for 10 minutes. It will relax your back muscles.

Just Some Questions Im On Day 4.
Rojasanoll replied to JDuhaime75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't play doctor, keep the tapes on. After showering, dont rub, pat them dry. My surgeon told me to stay on Stage 1 (liquids & clear) for 14 days. The longer the better to give your stomach a chance to relax. I can drink my Protein shakes per my doctor. I freeze them for 40-45 and make the ice cold taste great. I'm on 5 days since band on Aug 6 and I feel great. No more pain anywhere and no more vicodin. Best wishes on your recovery -
I agree that the BA multi-vtamins and Calcium Citrate are terrible tasting. I grind mine up and pour in a glass the I pour a Chocolate protein shake in the glass. Works great.

What Happens At The Learning Session?
Rojasanoll replied to Mama2girls's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doctor's office has a list of things/sessions/classes to fulfill. I recommend you getting a schedule of what is next. The reason I'm saying this is my docotr's office only has 1 weight reduction seminar a monthe, then you must wait other 30 days before it is available. There will be a nutrition class by a dietian and then your docotr might have a seminar discussing the procedure. If your doctor has a web page all this information is probably on his page and you will know when the seesions are ahead of time. Some of mine I would have to drive 1 hour away if I missed it locally. And its hard to determine what you will find out at a learning session since all doctors are different in how they approach weight reduction. Best Wishes -
I drove my car the next day and no issues. Went a drank decaf coffee at my favorite place. I didn't let the surgery get me down. Just be smart and don't over do it! I went to a weight support meeting on Aug8 and the people were surprised I was only out less than 48 hours. Best Wishes

Banded 5 Days Ago... And The Emotional Ups And Downs
Rojasanoll replied to Christy.Lynn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello and Congratulations on your band. Mine was on Aug 6 and I've always looked at this as a great opportunity to lose the weight and keep it off. Never once have I looked at it as a down or negative, even the food we have to eat. I volunteered for this ordeal and with God's help I will succeed. I've used my Protein shakes as smoothies. I put mine in freezer for 40-50 minutes. They are excellent this way. I'm grateful that my insurance paid for this procedure and I have this wonderful "tool" in my body. Best Wishes and Be Positive! It will get better and our goals are always the same, get healthier and look better. -
Sip Sip Sip all your fluids. Heating pad works if you get bothered by gas in shoulders. And like you stated already, keep the walking up. God Bless for a speedy recovery. I was banded on Aug 6.
-
Be positive and Keep the Faith. I got banded Aug 6 and my new journey has started. You will do fine and after surgery if you have discomfort tell the nurses. They are paid to provide you with everything you require. If youy have a long drive home, ask for meds right before you leave so you will have a painless trip home. Best Wishes on surgery day. May the Good Lord Bless You.
