Can I have milk?
Rojasanoll replied to lindsaybhill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i drank nonfat -
Its a walk in the park. WE all over react to the procedure. A little vercid drug to calm you down and next thing you are in recovery remembering nothing. Drinking the stuff to clean you out if the bad stuff. They pick on age 50 or so to do the first. Depending if they find something, you won't have to do another one for many years unless cancer runs in your family.

Is The Band Really Failing You, Or Are You Failing The Band?
Rojasanoll replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pitfalls can occur to many of us. All we have to do is to try and succeed. The stated facts are wriiten, continue eating wrong foods, gain the weight, lose good health and lifestyle changes, then you die. Try and jumpstart your life by eating porper foods and in smaller quanities. Follow your doctors/dietitian orders. The studies are out there for all to read. YES, it's hard work on our part, but YOU are the only one that can make it work. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -
Cleansing effect. It works wonders on band people. Many have to try this every so often. It's almost like a jump start to our systems.

Get busy and do more walking. We are all busy during the day. I park my car farther from my work building to make me walk an extra step to and from car. I work on the third floor and try not to take elevator. When I need a bathroom break, I walk to the farthest bathroom whenever possible. When you are shopping, park farther. If you have groceries use the cart to take them to car. Now you have resistance from the cart and a farther walk. ALL these extra steps add up each week. YOU must increase your walking and the weight will melt off. It does take many of us a long time to lose the weight. Some here get instant weight loss, but If you look closely most lose weight gradually and a longer time. With the added length, your knowledge will grow in what you can eat and what gives you weight loss results quicker. My band is a 14cc Allergan omiform. I have 6.5cc in it. I asked the nurse for the cc information and i got it from her. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

9 months and 14 pounds lost
Rojasanoll replied to sevenb7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Patience is hard on Banders. It will take a long time to lose the weight that it took a lifetime to gain. NO miracles, just hard work and a strong effort on your part. One day at a time. Start walking a little bit each day if possible. Get away from the kitchen table. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -
Big deal! You know what you did and now Correct it. Immediately! Give the rest of the candy to a neighbor. Start again by eating healthy foods and do a little walking. We will all go up and down, but we are in control of our bodies. Best wishes and Keep the Faiith.

Fill question for those who have met goal
Rojasanoll replied to Joy1961's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
So far, I've been following B-52 advice to all the band to relax. Actually your brain as well. The band can't stop you from over eating but YU can tell your brain to eat carrot sticks, more veggies with maybe a different dressing as your treat. I a bit over a year since my band, I'm hearing at the doctor's office and on this forum, a slight lean towards I will let the band do it for me. Wrong! YOU are the only one who can control the band. The band can be almost completely full so as to almost stop you feom eating, BUT if you are going to eat the WRONG foods, guess what happens to your brain. It likes this stuff your eating and wants more. You are on track to total destruction. Control what YOU put in your mouth for a long term weight loss. It's very ard work and requires total concentration. Try a week of liquids like when you were starting prior to the band week. Yogurt, Protein shakes, light clear Soups with spices in them for a bit of flavor. If you're real hungry, take in another shake. So what if you swallow another 160 calories. They are liquid and you also pick up an additional 30 grams of protein. Best wishes and Keep the Faith -

How many fills does it take before you feel like you actually have a band?
Rojasanoll replied to Katie L.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ive had 4 fills and im feeling restriction. My doctor has been very slow to give fills just to lose weight. He is very concern on the amount of Fluid in bands. He wants to to establish a good program and learn how to eat better foods. He doesn't want you to rely on the band. I must do the hard work or the band will not succeed. I get disappointed every now and then when i drive down to see him. He checks me out, ask a few questions, looks that im dropping weight from 4-8 pounds between visits and he says I will see you in about 6-8 weeks. I guess its the best way to lose weight and keep it off long term. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -

Taking medication (pill form) after the Lap-Band Procedure
Rojasanoll replied to rosieg54's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I take about 5 pills per day. Some are Vitamins and only one BP pill did i switch to a 2 pills a day format so it wa ssmaller to swallow. At first and right after the lapband for maybe 3 months i broke all pills except the time release pill. After i tried to swallow with lots of Water and now I dont have any problem with any pills. Lucky for me the biggest pill is 100mg size and it is small. Best wishes -
I do sip but very little as i eat. It helps me slide down thr food easier. My surrgeon believes in 30 minutes before and after eating, but in discussing with him after my 6 month blood tests (results were all excellent) that its okay to sip small amounts. Every surgeon is different and I usually drink hot coffee prior to Breakfast, then a very small breakfast (oatmeal, raisins, chopped nuts) and about 4 oz of milk after meal.

I'm 6.5cc filled in a 14cc band and haven't had a fill for many months. My doctor is very slow to respond to lots of fills. He truly wants you to try and maintain mostly on your own with little assistance from the band. You must control your brain and enjoy losing weight.

20 days till Surgery and Scared!
Rojasanoll replied to MACbabyxo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Plenty of time to recover. I drove thre next day without any pain meds. JUst used as heating pad for first day on shoulder. I did lots of short walks to help with any gas release and sipped plenty of Water. A couple freinds of mine went back to work the next day on their lapbands. But everybody recovers differently. -
UGH! First REAL STUCK! HELP PLEASE - Advice!
Rojasanoll replied to BeachBish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The two "stucks" that I have experienced, Water made the matter worse. But I excused myself from the table and I jumped up as high as I could and then down, several minutes, like a pogo stick or like plunging a clogged toilet. I wanted the same effect of the push through the opening and it worked rather quickly. I did this the other time as well with great results. The secret is eat the proper foods and if you do, chew and chew and chew before swallowing. -
