Did You Have A Catheter During Your Surguery ?
Rojasanoll replied to yourshoesareuntied's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They allowed me to go to bathroom 2 times. One was early when I had been laying down being prepped and one about 20 minutes from surgery. I already had the iv tree and sugar water being dripped in. they walked me over put the bag hanging on the bathroom door hook and no issues. Some places put the cath when you are already out prior to surgery so you might not know. -
This post got me to re-read your topic. I thought your surgeon was allowing you to eat pizza post-op. I was going to say LuckyGirl. Actually I haven't thought what I can eat in the future so I dont really know, I think I saw some that say they do but I think I also read on the internet, no pizza because of the dough.

Where To Find Solid Statistics On Surgeons?
Rojasanoll replied to AmberBryce's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I asked my friends who had the lapband procedure in the past and my family doctor reccomended my surgeon in Sanata Barbara and one in nearby Ventura, who he heard were top-notch surgeons on Lapband. -
Not for me, they allowed me to get up and use the toilet right before surgery. I believe its all the meds to put you to sleep for surgery and any pain meds for post op that could have "tweaked" your release system. SIp your water and get in those 64oz or so each day. You should pee like a faucet.

I drank 2oz of protein every 10-15 minutes first day or so. Same with water.

Surgeon Said Hospital Is Doing Less Lapbands Due To Issues
Rojasanoll replied to KJS1228's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, if you want to maintain weight control. Most of us can't go back without the band and keep the weight off. I look at this as , If I don't do anything about my weight, how long will I live? If the band works 10-15 years and through erosion, failure quits, I have a choice to make. My choice would be to replace it. -
Congratulations. We will all go in spurts in losing weight. Keep the exercise up and it will eventually melt off through your hard efforts. How long did it take you to get overweight, a long time. It will be the same in losing weight. Be positive and Best Wishes.

Working On Week 4 Post Op... Only Lost 11 Lbs...normal? Also Added Mushies Last Week No Gain Or Loss?
Rojasanoll replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And you're drinking lots of Water and still in recovery. When you get back in the swing, you'll be moving more, shopping, walks and appointments. All this will burn more calories. What you have is water weight and you will lose some weight, but you will notice inches changing. Be positive, you're doing great on weight control. You are way ahead of most people in losing weight prior to the band. The band fills will be later as you adjust to the band. Keep the faith. -

Surgeon Said Hospital Is Doing Less Lapbands Due To Issues
Rojasanoll replied to KJS1228's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well for one thing, Gastric bypass surgery carries more risk of death, leakage, infections and length of stay in the hospital. The band is least evasive and studies have shown that people who don't abuse the band can get 10-15 years usage. If you continue gaining weight or staying big, Can you guarantee you will be alive? And secondly, the surgeon makes lots more money (insurance or out of pocket) if he pushes Gastric Bypass. If I was money hungry, I would push GB over Lapband. I've seen Allergan studies on the band from lab studies. My sister works for Allergan. I was banded on Aug 6. And know, I didn't get any special deals from my sister's company. There is risk with any operation. -
I've been off 10 days and I love that I have taken so much time off. It makes me only concentrate on recovery and proper eating. I was banded on Aug 6.

On The Other Side!!
Rojasanoll replied to bonnielynn07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations bonnielynn07! Welcome to the Band club. Walking and if you have a heating pad please use it. It helps 100% with shoulder pain and trapped gas. SIP your water. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. -
Congratulations and prayers for a speedy recovery. YOU did it! When you leave if you have a long drive home ask for some meds before you leave hospital, for a pain free trip. Make sure the doctor faxes to your local pharmacy your pain med and it will be ready when you go. You should take pain med for a few days for any discomfort and helping you sleep at night peacefully. Have your heating pad ready and even if you dont think you need to use , sit in an easy chair and turn pad on med for 15 minutes in the middle of your back. It will help disapate and gas that will go to shoulder areas. I did this the first day home and i had a little shoulder ache next morning and then all gone and it didn't come back. The heating pad helped me prepare for bed as well, relaxing the back muscles. SIP your fluids, not like you drank Water before, it's SIPS now. Hugs
