Post Surgery But No Weight Loss
Rojasanoll replied to Arizonakimc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't weigh everyday and let 7 days go by. Heal first, SIP your water. You can worry about weight loss later. You have a band, but NO restriction, and you are full of gas. Heating pad and walks even if you have no pain. The heating pad helps relax your back muscles and release stress from surgery trumna. When your body is relaxed everything works smoothly. Be positive and Best Wishes. -
Can Anyone Tell Me About Your Full Liquid Stage?
Rojasanoll replied to Amoore627's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today (day17) I just completed post surgery All Liquids. Now I can have mushy/puree for next 2 weeks. I drank nothing but liquids and nonfat greek yogurt (plain with some splenda) Clear broths, chicken, veggie, beef, SF popsicles,SF jello cup, Crystal lights and for Breakfast & lunch costco Premier Protein shakes. I did NOT do jello, pudding. Put you mind to it and you can do it. I lost 14 pounds since surgery on all liquids, 48 pounds total. I would question your doctor on NO yogurt, becasue it has protein (as long as its greek plain yogurt). -
Congratulations! Im down 48 pounds since June 18, but only 14 pounds have been since Aug 6 band date. I saw my surgeon today and he will give me first fill on Sept 18.

I used the heating pad all the time for 10-15 minutes on high, right in the middle of my back. Even when I was sitting answering emails, I turned the pad on for a few minutes. The heat soothes your back muscles and relaxes your skeleton. Walk, walk, walk to get rid of gas. Gas strips did nothing for me, my stomach was okay. Best wishes

I went back to work today since Aug 6 band date and it was nice to hear lots of positive comments about my success so far. The neagative people I work with are changing sides to being very positive about what I did. So far total weight before and after surgery is at 46 pounds. I'm leaning the right way. Keep the faith Banders.

Pain in upper neck sent me to ER, what is wrong?
Rojasanoll replied to tdrose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's time to move on to a different PCP who cares about a patients health. How shallow of your current PCP and bad attitude. Patient's care is suppose to be his first responsibility. -

Two More Days... Surgery At 7Am 8/22/12!
Rojasanoll replied to prettysmart1913's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
But look how long it took you to get heavy. We must practice patience and Be positive with the lapband. Walk and drink (sip) lots of Water. What you do right after surgery will define how you, eat, swallow, exercise in the future. Try to practice good eating habits. You are starting over and don't go back to what failed before the surgery. Best Wishes and Keep the Faith. -
August 20 Bandsters, Tomorrow Is The Day! Let's Hear From You.
Rojasanoll replied to Gigi_Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm feeling fine. And my band day of Aug 6 was long ago. Recovery has been excellent and I'm coming to an end of Stage 1 (liquids) next week when I see my surgeon on Tuesday, Aug 21 for my first post-surgery follow-up. Best wishes and Good Luck on Monday, Gigi_Girl. Be positive and Keep the Faith. -
Does Anyone Still Take Your Vitamins?
Rojasanoll replied to hopingtobebandedsoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took them the next day after surgery, just like my BP meds. I purchased One a day chewables(multi-vitamin) and chewable Calcium citrate from Walmart and they taste great. The Biratric Choice multi and Calcium were terrible in taste. They were hard to tolerate. I actually hated taking them. Been taking daily vitamins for the last 40 years. -
Congratulations and Best wishes. It will get better. Hang in there. Walk some this early and SIP your Water NOT like before. Use heating pad on your back even 15 minutes whether you have gas or not. Get a head start on the gas. The heat will soothe your back and you can sleep better. Be Positive and Keep the Faith.

Can I Lose Too Much Weight In Pre-Op?

well mine has MEDICAL ID INFORMATION and in a font size Bigger than Drivers license font. You would have to be bling Not too see it. I'm sorry in your case, the medical staff wasn't as alert as they should be. I called 2 EMT friends of mine and they are "trained to look at all information in a wallet to find additional clues on the patient. Yes, they told me stablize the patient first, but some person is there that is suppose to look for all information. You are so lucky they didn't have to runa tube down your throat and accidently lacerate your stomach or other organs. Be positive and keep the faith.

Why Does Weight Loss Surgery Fail?
Rojasanoll replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Well I believe WE fail and not the surgery we have had. WE are the only ones who can defeat being overweight! Even if you try, you are winning. Doctors can only assist us in obtaining our weight goals, they are people just like you and I and usually don't work miracles unless our good lord allows this to happen. The article gives you an understanding of WLS and it's a good article to read. BUT, I must fullfil my goal and objectives on being healthy and working hard to my weight loss. Weight loss is really an individual thing, the surgeon has given us a "tool" and I leave it at that. Some "tools" work differently to all of us. But we are the only ones to make it happen and succeed. Be positive and Keep the Faith. -

When Does The Gas Pain End??
Rojasanoll replied to Roxygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was lucky as my shoulder gas hurt the first night after surgery. Once I felt it I got off the bed into a chair near pc and put heating pad on me and then I fell asleep in my chair. The next morning for about an hour moe then it disappeared. -
Thats why in my post I stated that the id card would be next to my drivers license. You see both at once.
-
I had mine repaired under the braestbone area. Probably more discomfort and aches than the band surgery. But now I have no gas and problems. Mine was large about size of a nickel and nothing worked until surgeon sewed it shut. I do have 2 additional incisions, one on each side of chest for the hernia fix. For me it only bothered me over night and the pain meds took care of all pain/aches. Pain was probably a 1, on a scale 1 to 5.

Amazon.com has a few lapband ID cards or braclet or medal. Youtube has a video on Lapband Medical ID card. I will make my own ID card with vital info and then laminate it and carry next to my Driver's License.

8 Weeks Post-Op, Band With Plication, My Port Is Sticking Out Of My Stomach?
Rojasanoll replied to Beth A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
they usually sew the port to a muscle instead of fat. So the port doesn't move. I can't feel mine so far. I'm down 46 pounds and 12 pds since Aug 6 band date. Maybe when I lose a little more I can feel it. I was told mine is near belly button. -
Get with your doctor and he can give you something else. My doctor changed 3 different times on me until he dial me in. Every now and then I get a high reading of 140/80 but not often. I'm hoping once more weight come off I will wean off BP meds completely. I grind my BP pills up and mix in greek yogurt in the morning. I can hardly wait when I graduate from Stage 1 into Stage 2 puree foods when I can mix it into apple sauce.
