Getting 1St Fill- What Do I Expect
Rojasanoll replied to diamante's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always schedule fills early in the morning. My doctor always reminds me to stay on liquids for 24 hours after the fill. Then soft foods for next 24 hours. I haven't felt my 2 fills so far. It's no big deal and you're released quickly. My doctor usually has me drink some Water to make sure I can. Don't think about the fills as painful, because it won't be and you might not even know it's done. -
Good luck with procedure. A new You will be starting after surgery. It's all about You, your health and weight control. After surgery be sure to drink plenty of Water. SIP the water. Take in your Protein shakes, SF popsicles, SF Jello and your broths. You wont feel like eating much the first 24-48 hours. I added a bit of dried diced onion to my broths for additional flavor. Think healthy and slender. Be positive! Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Drinking Before And After Meals
Rojasanoll replied to lvlymaggie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I order food, I always have a glass of water ready in case. But most doctors tell you too wait 1 hour after you eat. Guess if you drink water it will wash the food out of the pouch and you might get hungry again and over eat. -

I use to chop in a blender chicken breasts so they are shredded and smaller. Not much chewing this way.

They sometimes give you Vercid, a drug that you don't remember anything after its over. Its needed and a good way to check all the way to the stomach. They found my hiatal hernia with this procedure. Best wishes

Diet Before Surgery...???
Rojasanoll replied to fud233's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did on my own Protein shakes Breakfast and lunch, then a small dinner salad with chicken for dinner for 30 days prior to surgery. I lost 34 pounds. Then 48 hours and counting, the doctor said liquids only, broths,SF Jello and SF popsicles. Since I did lots before surgery going to liquids after surgery was easy for me. I didn't starve as much. I was already used to what I had to do. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -
You are still healing slowly. Some people will hit stops and no weight loss. Just keep steady on your foods and lots of water. It will come and then you will start losing weight. Be patient.

At First I Regretted It, Now I'm In The Sweet Spot!
Rojasanoll replied to wannabethin2012's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm very close in my fills even though I only have 4.5cc in a 14cc Allergan band. I'm losing close to 2 pounds a week and that's when my doctor wants me. So I believe next time I see him in December, he will not give me anymore saline solution. But, I'm not complaining and I'm close to no hunger at all. -
Banded Yeaterday
Rojasanoll replied to Krystle Austin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Use your heating pad right on top oif the pain areas. It does wonders. I had a bit of pain under my breast bone area after surgery on Aug 6 (hernia) and it did wonders to put the heating pad on top of my chest. The go to lower back for 15 minutes and on top of your shoulders. The gas gets trapped all ove ryour body cavity and the heat, walking and SIP the Water all helps. Take pain meds as directed especially for sleeping. DO NOT tough the pain out! Nobody cares if you're tough or not. Best wishes -
I talked with my sister who works for Allergan in Santa Barbara area and she hadn't heard of the company selling out of the band business. But all the literature I've been able to read prior to my band date was company studies on the band. It was all truly positive in very high results. Yes, some failures have occured but not different than any other product or experiemnet in the world. More people have probably have had a better quality of living than death results from the band. We can have side effects from a simple pulling of a wisdom tooth gone bad. I am very happy that after a year of studing Allergan and having the capability to read their personal lab results that have been published to AMA of having my band installed on Aug 6, 2012. I have lost close to 67 pounds and my quality of life is getting better each day.

I'm hoping you have been eating lighter to get ready for Stage 1 after surgery. Its much easier to do if you start early and have the foods necessary for Stage 1. Have your heating pad ready, SIP plenty of Water, buy liquid tylenol if you need it. You can even use the baby section to find all the liquids for medicines. I purchased a pill crusher at Walmart for a few dollars to make swallowing easier if needed. have Protein shakes ready, SF popsicles, SF jelly, Soup broths (Walmart, Fresh n Easy) have a good selection. I also purchased a small bottle of dried chopped onion spices to add a bit mor flavor to the soup. Best wishes and good luck

Sage, ask your doctor how much he/she is putting in the band. It's your body. Also ask your doctor what size do you have, 10cc,12cc,14cc.

I guess you might eliminate them from your can't eat list.
