Srewed Up Bad On Thanksgiving, Depressed!
Rojasanoll replied to show1980's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Get back on track, today. Go back to Protein shakes Breakfast and lunch, a dinner salad with a broiled chicken breast, oil/vinegar for today and tomorrow. You will be back where you left off. Best wishes -
Liquids Phase
Rojasanoll replied to Brandi's Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking your vitamins/minerals each day. This is important becuase you are healing, maybe bloated, some possibility of gas inside. It takes time to heal but sip your Water. My doctor said I could use crystal light flavors during this stage. I did and put the drink in the freezer and make a slushy smoothie out of the crystal light. Almost as good as SF popsicles. Best wishes -
Yes, it is. You have NO fills or very little restriction even with the band installed. The fills will constrict the opening of the new pouch. and it will take longer to eat and your full sensation will eventually get longer in time, so you won't eat more than a cup of food. Certain foods we eat will allow us to eat more than a cup because the foods (Soups in general) drop right through the opening anyway with or without restrictions. You will always have an opening, so we must make wise choices on the foods we still eat after the band. Best wishes and the fill is a piece of cake. NO pain at all. Don't even worry about it.

Surgery Is Monday! Starting To Become Emotional
Rojasanoll replied to duncanrum's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep it up and you will do good surgery day. Mine was a piece of cake and had very little discomfort for only 24 hours after I came home. I took pain meds as directed. I drove my car around town the next day and even attended my first post op meeting at 7pm that night. My dietitian was amazed because she knew i had surgery the day before. Walking, sipping lots of Water , and use the heating pad on upper back and on collarbone if gas pains hit you. Moving/walking is the best to get rid of the gas that they use to bloat the stomach during surgery. WE are all here for you. You are doing the right healthy thing in getting control back on your life. If you continue doing what you're doing, your life expectancy is short, health issues could arise, hard to buy insurance being overweight, different things may occur in your life. Please think of the new YOU after surgery. It was worth it for me, and I wish I would have done the "band" years ago. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -
The only thing with the narcotic pain meds if they are these kind, is constapation. Take the pain meds only as directed but do not stomach the pain. Walks and keep that heating pad on high, and on top of collarbone area. Use it in the high part of your back if you are sitting and playing on computer. Movement tends to alleviate the gas quicker. Best wishes

Congratulations and Best wishes. Sip lots of water.

Congratulations on a great way to attack your problem. I also did the same thing and mentally prepared myself and also used Protein shakes prior to seeing my doctor for the first time. I lost 34 pounds preop. And now closing in on 75 pounds lost. My band date was Aug 6. I haven't slipped into any sugars at all, but I never craved surgar or sweets before so I'm lucky in that respect. I still haven't had any bread/rolls since June. I'm so happy with my control on eating only the right foods and protein first. I was a big meat eater before my diet and surgery. I have yet to order a steak and eat it. I do usually broiled chicken breast with lots of different herbs and spices for flavor and some fish on top of lots of different salads with only vinegar/oil dressing. SF popsicles and SF Jello are my only two treats. Best wishes and a big Congratulations on your great efforts.

Banjo, it's all about a new YOU. YOU will do the pain, suffering and disappointments from the surgery and band or whatever type you do. BUT, you have pain already and maybe starting health issues right now. YOU are doing the right thing in getting control of your body and maybe some positive health. The band is NO guareentee, but its one of the best tools out there to help us eat less. WE still have too make all the correct choices when we do eat. I'm so happy for you because you have been thinking about this for sometime and for whatever reason, now is the time for this to happen. I'm sure you will do great after surgery as we all our doing. It will be one step forward each day for the rest of your life. Congratulations and Best Wishes for your new YOU. YOU will enjoy your new Body! HUgs

Gas Pains How Long?
Rojasanoll replied to lovely29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had them overnight. I used heating pad on top of my shoulders and this helped alleviate the gas. Sip lots of Water and walk, walk, walk. Hang in there. -
My first Thanksgiving as well after Aug 6 band day. I'm not worried at all and I already know I will stay on my journey by eating correctly and healthy. I've been too fat for so long, and I won't cave in on Thanksgiving day meal. Too many meals in the past of eating the wrong foods is why I had to go the band route. I will do the right thing on Thanksgiving and share the day with close freinds and family members.. Best wishes to all and Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm so sorry for your loss, but look at it this way, get heathy for yourself and for your immediate family. Good health usually means a long healthy life. I also lost my father on October 29, burial was Nov 6. He a ripe old 91 years old. His heart just gave out. I saw him alos die in front of me. And for me I made a promise to myself to stay on course of the band I got installed on Aug 6. Maybe I can be as old as my dad one day, but if I continue to eat anything and all things I will die in poor health. May God Bless you during this time. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Newly Banded Nervous For Thanksgiving!
Rojasanoll replied to Lilly07's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
protein shakes, lots of crystal lights, SF popsicles and sip plenty of water. -
Yes, as we lose weight in the port area, it is common to feel the port even more. It should be attached to nearby muscle so it doesn't move. I rather feel mine and know its working by the weight scale than in my past on my yo-yo diets. I do have a low profile port installed on band date and I still feel mine. Best wishes

My dietitian says NO coffee due to stimulants in the drink, which mat trigger you to eat wrong foods. My surgeon says it's okay just drink in moderation. I drink 1 cup every morning, sometimes 2 on a Friday. But, I was a big coffee drinker before my journey.

Five Years With The Band
Rojasanoll replied to Maincat's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations on your very long journey. What a successful story for all of us achieve. Best Wishes An dHappy Thanksgiving! -
I don't have any favorites on Thanksgiving. I like it all! But, this will be my first Holiday season after my band and I'm doing so good with my weight loss so I will stay on course and no "slide". I am so positive and strong minded in controlling my weight and getting better health results. My dad recently died (Oct 29) at 91 years old and his memories are still fresh in all my families minds. It will be a quieter Thanksgiving then normal for this reason. I want to wish all Lapband forum folks a very Happy Thanksgiving Day! Best Wishes and Keep the Faith.

Do your research well. Make sure you have a doctor who will do the fills in the future. Sometimes when you get surgery done elsewhere, you will have to go back to that doctor for any followups. Other doctors don't want to handle you.
