Searching For Protein Drinks...
Rojasanoll replied to BeeKipp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Costco Premier Protein Shakes ready to drink. Eleven ounces, 160 calories, and 30g of protein. You get 18 each for $24.99. They make chocolate and vinalla. I stick my shake in the freezer for about 45-50 minutes to make it slush or a smoothie. No after taste for me. Adkins Avantage gave me an after taste and not as much protein in each unit. -
When Did You Feel "normal" Again After Surgery?
Rojasanoll replied to AmyBK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I only had gas the first night and then on the second day I drove my car to a weight reduction meeting at my local hospital. But I had originally decided to take 10 days off to get used to the band and any side effects. So I guess my 5 to 7 days was about normal for me. -

Ready To Begin My Journey
Rojasanoll replied to prairiedog's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome prairinedog! You are not alone in the fight of dieting. We all have had Yo-Yo diets lose weight look good then gain it right back. The band is just a tool as stated over and over. WE still have to make the right choices in what we put in our mouths. The fills restrict the opening into ther stomach and you feel full longer so you don't eat as much. We all have to learn to eat protein foods first, then the rest. You are doing the right thing for yourself. There are lot's of people here who can help answer your questions. Remember, NO question is dumb, so ask away. New awareness will be obtained by asking of questions. I DID the RIGHT thing on Aug. 6, 2012 when I got banded Best Wishes and Keep the Faith. -
Unless you are slipping or failing talking with your doctor during fills is the way I'm going. This cuts costs way down and usually they both agree on the same foods. My doctor freely talks during my fills and asks how I feeling. This is when I steer him off medical issues to food types.

How Often Do You Weigh In?
Rojasanoll replied to Jenilou78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before I was banded, I didn't weigh myself. So, I changed all my habits that Didn't work in the past. That's why I weigh every other day to remind myself that it's easy to slip and this keeps me reined into eating properly. Best wishes -
Never been stuck so far. I chew and chew and chew.

Is It Possible To Be Low Carb And Vegatarian?
Rojasanoll replied to tym4me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
After Banding, I've switched to less red meat (prior a big red meat eater), more quality vegtables(steamed/cooked), and chicken & fish. As a side dish, lentils, Beans and lots of salads, vinegar/oil dressing. Heavy doses of Multivitamins morning and night with mineral supplements. I'm not a big exercise person all my life, so I watch what I eat daily (1200-1300) calories. I've done great so far, NO bread, sweets & pizza since before pre diet for the band back in June 2012. I've stayed away from all the starchy foods I used to devour and have stayed on course. I'm very pro good health and in my past I ate all and anything prior to lapband. Best wishes to all and Keep the Faith. -
What Obesity Is Doing To You!
Rojasanoll replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Alex for the Win! So true and correct. Lets get healthy together! -
Didn't your doctor make you drink after the fill and before leaving his office. My doctor always makes me drink some Water and asks and sees how I'm doing. And because I live 55 miles away from him, I have to sit in the office lobby with my water bottle and sip all the water slowly before I can go. He's making sure that I will not have any problems. Then for 24 hours I'm on liquids (Protein shakes, some light Soups, nonfat milk). The next 24 hours puree/soft foods. You received a healthy fill with or without xray. I'm surprised you received that much on your first fill. Best wishes

New Here - Meet My Lap Band Heroes
Rojasanoll replied to RosieGlow's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So many "hero's" here on this great forum, all helpful in some ways. We've all gone through the pain and discomfort of bandning. Some of us had it easy and others suffered to get ready for the band, others had many weeks to adapt to the band. Preparation and following your dietitian/doctors instructions are in order. Many great success stories here by people all over the world. Most share their truthful experiences here. Ask lot's of questions. Best Wishes and Keep the Faith. -
I had my hernia repaired as well during banding and I was never told I couldn't drink Water. Odd that you would be told this. liquids shouldn't hurt the repair. What if your testing fails, they surely won't go back in an re-repair the hernia this close to your other surgery. Ask your family doctor for advice on water. Walking, more walking and use your heating pad on your collarbone area on the side of gas pains. I used my pad for hours a day in 15-20 minutes at a time all day long. 24 hours and 99% of my discomfort was gone. Best wishes

Different Types Of Bands
Rojasanoll replied to diamante's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an Allergan omni form (latest band) 14cc band with 2 fills of 1.5cc each time. The surgeon pre-filled with 1.5cc during band date. So I have 4.5cc in a size 14cc band. My surgeon wants me around 2 pounds a week loss or 8 pounds per month. He really doesn't care about "green zone". He believes long term for a patient to adapt to good eating habits first rather than the band doing most of the work. I'm scheduled for a third fill visit on Dec 11, but I'm close to 8 pounds a month in weight loss. So, I might not get another fill until he sees a possible weight gain. I have a very cautious doctor. -
I use costco Premier Protein shakes everyday since being banded Aug 6. They are 11oz each with 30g of protein. My surgeon wants me around 60-70g of protein per day. Some days I get close to that amount and others way over. Since you are still healing so close to surgery, it will take some time to be able to drink enougfh protein daily. Just remember any chance you get to drink the protein first, then your SF popsicles, Jello or Nonfat Greek plain yogurt (another great protein source which I buy at Fresh n Easy) Best wishes and Congratulations on your band. Please keep us informed.
