    Crushed medications

I was told to crush my pills until Stage 4. I use to take some crushed with apple sauce because of the nasty taste. Each doctor is different. and check with them.

    Im a banded girl!

Congratulations. Make sure you take your medicines as prescribed. Don't try and tough it out. I also had hernia repaired and band placement. I had more discomfort under my breast bone where my hernia repair was than with the band. Sip Water and walk often. It will help with any trapped gas. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

    Consult Tomorrow

Since each doctor has different rules pre and post ask what type of foods should you have on hand before surgery. Some of us were lucky and a dietitian gave a checklist of things to buy or have in hand. Go to a drugstore and in the baby section, buy Ibuprofren, tylenol in liquid form. It's always wise to have it prior to head aches or other things. Make sure you have a driver or ride. You probably wont be in any shape to drive at least for 24 hours. I drove my car the next day and had no problems. Take a notpad and writing utensils. Best wishes

    Chicken??

You have to really chew the chicken 20-25 times before swallowing. Chicken is usually too dry to digest easily. I cut mine into very little diced pieces. I usually eat some chicken salad spread and I stick my chicken breast in a processor and chop it fine.

    first adjustment tomorrow.

No really, its painless. What I do the two fills I've received is ask the doctor, how much cc of saline he used. Then I keep a personal running total on my profile signature. You will do good. You shouldn't worry over the adjustments. I never feel mine.

    This Reflux Is Getting Old!

Ask your doctor about Dexilant, its a prescribed drug but very good. Most insurances cover it.
  10. I've taken vitamins daily for over 30 years. I really believe in them and I know my eating habits.

What About Our Fat Friends And Relatives

I'm sure we were all the topic of discussion because of our weight in the past and maybe we never heard it. WE are the ones that pursued a new beginning. I would never impose myself on anyone that wa soverweight, unless they asked me first. I have a few overweight guys and gals that I see and work with and I would never approach or brag about my goals except when asked. THEY have to be ready for Themselves to make the necessary changes in their own personal lives. Best wishes

    Getting Water In

You will do great during recovery. Give yourself some needed time to heal properly but please SIP the Water. A little bit all day. Then one day you will be at the 64 oz level. It doesn't all come at once. Be patient but follow the doctors directions and not over due anything. Heal first! Best wishes
  17. Some insurances will pay for the removal of a defective unit and replace it free. Some insurance companies figure that the added expense to them will be lots cheaper than if you continue being obese and all the possible and expensive health problems you may have over a long term career. I was out and on a breathing machine for assistance during surgery. There is a tube is put down your throat to assist in holding the band in place while your surgeon sews it to stomach tissue. The tube pushes from the inside to the outside of the stomach wall and the surgeon positions the band in a more level place. There are Youtube videos that show this procedure.
  18. there are anti-itch topicals you can buy at CVS or Walgreen stores that will not disturb the closure. Sort of like oral gel ointment.

    5 Days Post Op

Nope!! Your body and stomach area is still healing and this will take time. This is very typical on alot of us who have gone through this already. You should be able to drink your Protein shakes in post op, not just Clear liquids. You need the protein. Make sure you sip Water or any liquid while healing. I believe while I healed I had some 500 calorie days but the rest were 300-400 per day. Be patient and Best wishes. It's worth it.
  21. So your hubby would rather be fat or obese, with possible health issues, longetivity issues, possible rejections of life insurance increases and not look fit in any way. Sounds like he should look at the overall picture and be supportive of your needs in obtaining better health or keeping the health you have. Hope he wakes up soon and sees you as the same you from the past only lighter. Maybe he should eat and exercise with you rather than to throw slams at you. He must grow Up! Stay on course and keep on track. It's only YOUR health. Hugs

How Much Water Should You Drink Every Day?

My doctor suggested 8 glasses or 64 ounces of water daily. I probably drink 32 ounces of water, 8 oz of Crystal light, 2 cups coffee and 2 protein shakes, 1 at breakfast and 1 at lunch. My shakes are 11oz each.

    Coffee Rules

I drink mine straight, no cream or sugar.
  24. My doctor only gives fills every six weeks or so and only 1.5cc. I've had 2 fills, 1.5cc each time. My band was pre-filled with 1.5cc on Aug 6. Mine is Allergan omniform style 14cc. It's the latest Allergan band.

    Protein Shakes Fill Me Up

My doctor doesn't believe in protein shakes once you start eating food. I told him sometimes I drink a shake at breakfast and lunch Mon-Friday then a good dinner. He told me to wean off the shakes due to too many calories. I was shocked but I still continue to drink 2 shakes a day and I've lost close to 75 pounds, 34 prior to band on Aug 6 and the rest after the band.
