I tried Biratric Choice chewables and they taste like biting into a chalk stick. I went to Walmart, talked with 2 pharmasicts and they selected the same multi-vitamins for me. Other supplements I selected to get to daily levels. Most I take morning and night.

Bitter taste with protein drinks
Rojasanoll replied to soakley212's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've used costco Premier Protein shakes since I've started, no matter what Stage of eating. It's a way for most of us to grab a high amount of protein into our systems for Breakfast and sometimes eggs, oatmeal and other breakfast items don't do it for me. I find a Protein shake, gives me the protein with less amount of animal fats and lower carbs than an egg or oatmeal. We are suppose to move on to other food items to give us a balance, but most of us carry busy lives and I feel for my breakfast and sometimes lunch, a protein shake will do, then top it off with a generous dinner. This keeps me close to my 1200-1260 calorie intake. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -
Congratulations Uncle Ted for your upcoming Day! Many have posted for you with lot's of different results. I've been on close to 1200-1260 calories per day for awhile and when keeping this calorie intake I'm losing about 1.5-2 pounds per week. I was banded on Aug 6 and I'm close to 78.9 pounds so far. I've lost about 6-7 inches off my waist. So the inches came off me very rapidily. I do stretch bands every ohter day for close to 40 reps for chest, arms and legs. This has tighten my skin quite a bit so as I lose the weight, hopefully less loose skin will show. For me it's not so much I've lost a fair amount of weight as opposed to other's, but I feel healthy, am healthy for the first time in a long time. All my levels have greatly improved, lots more stamina and less stress to cope with. Common goals embedded in your brain will help you achieve your success. We all do this in our own pace. But please don't compare yourself to anybody here and believe you should be the same. Our creator made us all individuals with many different trits and habits. You will do great, just focus on YOUR goal! Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Had My 1st Appointment
Rojasanoll replied to kristlynngirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's good that you can have a selection available. Just remember, some insurances do NOT cover all the procedures even if the surgeon decides for you. Make sure your insurance provider will pay all bills on a procedure. Almost all, with some caveats (3-month diet prior) will cover the lapband. My carrier didn't cover the sleeve (too new at the time) unless the surgeon determined mutiple health issues that are life threatening. Here is this forum, you will meet members who have had all the different types of surgeries. On youtube, a few surgeries are available if you're so interested. I saw my procedure, lapband, several times from different doctors, prior to my surgery. I figured it's my body that's being cut, why not know what I'm getting into. When I was banded, I had an easy time with post op gas and discomforts. I drove less than 24 hours after surgery and even drove to a weight reduction seminar by my dietitian who announced that I had the surgery less than 24 hours ago. Some will tolerate or have no issues with the procedure, others here will tell you other stories. Best wishes and keep the faith. -
Tell him to become a member of this forum. The members here will straighten him out with lots of stuff. Sounds like he has trouble keeping food out of his mouth. That's an excessive amounts of fills/unfills in a 12 month period. My doctor would never allow this.

I actually lost weight during Thanksgiving this year and I'm hoping to do the same at Christmas time. Just stay more active, park the car a bit farther while at the mall and make yourself walk. Once you're in the stores so many people will be in front of you and usually the pace you usually walk, it will be slower. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

might be withdrawals to lots of food types. Sodas, sugars, coffee. Try some Tums.

Merry Christmas everybody. May the good Lord bless you and family. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Hey tigerlillie, turn this negative into a good positive and get better prepared. Start trying Protein shakes to see which you like. Then start the light dinners with some protein and learn how to chew the meat many many times (20-25) before swallowing. Start sipping your Water instead of big gulps and no straws. Once you know you're approved start buying some eating products you will need, most foods do not perish. (SF popsicles, sf jellos, oatmeal). Make sure you have a processor or blender and check to see if it works. I purchased lots of flavors of Crystal light and other sugar free liquids since carbonated drinks are not allowed by most doctors. Buy a heating pad if you don't have one, they are cheap at Walmart. And please use this forum to get instant tips from others. Best wishes and Keep the Faith.

Nope! Since I don't cook I will buy all my Cookies store bought in tins ready to give. Of course, there's nothing like a fresh baked cookie out of the oven. Merry Christmas

Congratulations! UJse a heating pad for 20 minutes on your back. It helps alleviate the gas and bloat. I put mine on even without bad gas. Heat soothes your back and relaxes back muscles so they work more efficient. Best wishes and Keep the Faith

Rojasanoll replied to rjcampbell2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You did so good on the first year. Wonder why it just working for you! Did you try and write down food intake to see if some foods were wrong for you. Was a dietitian consulted by you during the time it all of a sudden quit working. Guess all of us are different otherwis ewe would all be skinny. Best wishes -
Starving! I swear Thurs can't get here quick enough
Rojasanoll replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure you are close to 64 oz of water each day. Drink some protein shakes as well. Protein fills you and keeps you filled longer even without the 2cc restriction. Dinner salad with oil/vinegar will help keep you full. -
6 month diet......before surgery.....
Rojasanoll replied to bunchlane1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try out some different protein shakes prior to having to use them. Get your diet started early and shrink your stomach now. Best wishes and Keep the Faith. -

Soon to be banded...
Rojasanoll replied to MandaMom23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mandy, this is an excellent time to start by eating smaller portions and better choices. Try and buy some different Protein Shakes to you can try a few out prior to you having to use them. I went into my pre-op diet 2 months and counting and this made it lot's easier to adapt to a new style of eating. Since I wasn't a big "gym" person, I knew it would be difficult over a long term to not exercise very much and see the results I wanted. So, I ate 2 Protein shakes for Breakfast and then lunch, and a simple diet plate or salad with broiled chicken/fish/some steak at dinner. I lost 34 pounds by just changing my eating habits. In fact I was so successful, freinds of mine said Why the band? I almost didn't go through the surgery. Knowing the yo-yo affect over my lifetime on diets, I did get banded on Aug 6. I must say, it's be easier for me so far in being banded because of the slight restriction I have, but its the new eating habits obtained and selected by me over a longer time that has made it easy. Please start ASAP and get mentally prepared so when you do have to fast, or go to liquids only your stomach will be already smaller. Best wishes and Keep the Faith -
NEWLY BANDED!!! FINALLY!!! NOW WHAT???!
Rojasanoll replied to sunshine412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your topic tiltle scared me at first, the NOW WHAT! I wanted to know this all before I even got the band. It made my life easier by cutting down on food intake 2 months prior to getting the band. I was already in a good position to accept the band mentally and physically by eating better foods and taking in liquid Protein. Since I already knew that my doctor was very conserative in his "fills", I prepared myself by talking with former patients and found out if you are losing at a 1.5-2 pounds per week clip, the doctor doesn't do fills easily. He wants you to establish your eating habits over a longer period to teach yourself how to eat and not just rely on the band and fills to do it for you. Since it took alot of years to gain all my weight , I am prepared to be patient to lose the weight as well. I'm NOT looking at this as a "diet" like B-52 here on the forum, but as a way of my new life. Best wishes and Keep the Faith -
I've been doing this from time to time or an event coming up where I might eat the wrong foods and that extra spoonful. It helps "tweak" me in.

Best wishes and Keep the Faith. You will do great and a new YOU will start in your life. Hugs

Wow a good doctor. NO oats for me until mushy period. I ate oats with splenda or stevia and nonfat milk. Very yummy
